Who's watched? It's made me sick and angry and almost retraumatized. And I'm not finished.

I watched the first three episodes last night. I kept having to take breaks because of the reasons you mentioned. On a positive note, I'm so happy to see Merritt Weaver in this. I loved her in Nurse Jackie. And I liked the chemistry between her and Toni Collette's character.

I started it over the weekend. It’s so well done, and the cast is fantastic.

Is it worth watching? I ask because I saw the preview for it last night and I was so irritated with the way they seemed to depict that girl as making shit up. After the Kavanaugh thread yesterday it just had me walking away muttering under my breath that this is the exact reason why women don't come forward.

They didn't "seem" to depict it; it's what really happened, and it's based upon a true story. It's very worth watching. It's well done and well acted.

Started the first episode, but the assault scenes were hard for me personally to watch. Will go back to it when I am more mentally prepared.

trollie I felt like the assault scenes in episode 1 were the worst of what is shown. If you want to make it back to the show, I hope you can and that you will agree with me. (I have never been a victim of sexual assault...seems like a necessary disclaimer.) I loved the show. It's beautifully acted. I cried through the end of episode 7 and the final episode. Merritt Wever and Toni Collette are lovely together. @peano Did you watch Godless? I became a fan of Merritt's watching Nurse Jackie as well. She's fantastic in Godless. These kinds of shows are where I live. It's true crime and important storytelling and a depiction of our humanity all combined. These tough subjects are worthy of my time and tears. The most useful time I spend on TV/movies is the time I spend feeling truly moved.

I read an article on the case. It broke my heart. I don’t think I can watch it.

The first episode is the hardest. But it's an importantly powerful show. I think people should make a great effort to watch it.

The first episode was very hard to watch, but it’s worth taking the time to get through the series. I think the story unfolded very well. I had never heard of this case before, so I want to look it up. I was especially excited to see the actor that played the counselor is the girl in the hole in the floor in Silence of the Lambs. I haven’t noticed her in any other films since that movie. Off to go look up her name.
Edited to add: Brooke Smith is the actor who plays the counselor. Also, one of the police detectives in ep 1 is the actor who voices Patrick from SpongeBob.

Thanks! I will be watching the final episode later this evening

I have binged in my spare time over the last two days, will watch the last episode tomorrow.
This is so fantastic! It's how I (unfortunatly) imagine a lot of rape victims, and rape cases, will be treated by the police. One of the things that stood out to me is the difference in how the male detective in ep 1 treated the rape victim, compared to the female detective in ep 2.
I have a deep love for Toni Colette and Merritt Weaver, so this is my perfect show.
It's hard to watch at times, extremely frustrating to watch at other times, but ultimately one of the best new series of 2019.
And I miss Nurse Jackie and Zoe!

It's not sexualized, but dark flashbacks that play. I don't think anyone needs to binge it, watch at your own pace and when you're in a protected space. The first episode is difficult and it took me a bit to process it in my brain. But it was also healing to watch the remaining episodes.

Loved Merritt Weaver in Godless. Loved Godless. Excellent little series. She and Toni Collette are a powerhouse pair here.
About to finish. Glad I saw it through. I think it's timely, important viewing.
