I just finished my course of antibiotics (7 days) and I'm still weak and tired, and my insides are still sore. I've had infections before but this one made me pretty sick. Anyone BTDT? Thanks for reading.

It wasn't that long for me, and I had a pretty extreme case. I had bilateral pylonephritis which threw me into DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis). I was in the ICU for 3 days but was pretty much right as rain once I got out of the hospital. Maybe it was the the fact that I was on pretty strong antibiotics plus IV fluids.

When I had a kidney infection, I was fine before my antibiotics were done. It's been several years, but I'd guess by day five of meds, I felt back to normal.

Weak and tired is understandable. If your body is still physically hurting though, esp near where your kidneys are located, or anywhere along the urinary tract, and you’ve finished your antibiotics, you need to go back to the dr ASAP.
I went through a period (6-9 months-ish) where every 4-6 weeks I would come down with another UTI. My dr would put me back on an antibiotic for a week or 2. Things would clear up and then shortly after I stopped taking the meds an infection would pop back up. The last time in this ordeal I got super sick and the infection had hit my kidneys. My doc put me on some super strong antibiotic for however long. Then after that I had to take a lower dose of some other antibiotic for several months straight. It was great fun.
I hope you feel better soon!

Keep an eye on it. Sometimes it takes a second antibiotic, depending on the bacteria causing the infection. Did they culture it?
It should keep getting better, if it starts getting any worse call your doctor. I had a kidney infection that became septic, not fun.

When I had mine I was put on bed rest for two weeks. I was super tired for about the first ten days or so.

Call your doc and tell them you finished the antibiotics but you don’t feel better.

Call your doc and tell them you finished the antibiotics but you don’t feel better. Yep, now that I think about it, they had to switch my meds after about 5 days.

gulfcoastgirl If you're feeling tired, and generally wrung out, that can last for up to 2 weeks. However, if you have any of the following symptoms, definitely let your healthcare provider know ASAP: fever, sweats, chills, nausea, flank pain, headaches, burning with urination. Also - just another thought - lots of times pyelonephritis is treated with Levaquin which can cause some significant side effects. However, those should resolve within a couple of days after stopping that med. Please gets lots of rest - I've seen several very serious cases of sepsis from kidney infections. I don't want to scare you but simply want you to be really careful until you feel completely better.
