I was supposed to go yesterday, but am sick as hell and didn't want to infect the theater with this coughing, sneezy mess that I currently have. Think we are going next Sunday. Can't wait!!!!

I saw it yesterday! NOT disappointed at ALL!! We have it in one of our fancy LDX theaters so I spent the extra couple of $ to have a recliner with my feet up to watch! I did enjoy it thoroughly, and given the chance, I would go back to see it again. I do hope there is a second one!! There are so many ways they could take it. My teary time was the conversation between Mary & Granny.

nope couldn't find it. Amazon prime offers it in the US but not in Canada. Same with PBS masterpiece But my aunt texted me today. She wants to come to the movie with us & lent me the dvds so I can get caught up. I'll probably only get through the first season or 2 but at least it will be enough to figure out most of the characters They pulled it from Netflix right after the movie was announced. I wanted to watch it once more ☹ Also mad to learn that Amazon Canada is different than US but did I really expect any better? There are random episodes occasionally on a PBS channel. All the seasons are on Amazon Prime.

My teary time was the conversation between Mary & Granny. I think that was more real than just acting the part. Maggie Smith has categorically stated that she will not be doing any more. It was probably very sad for both of them that it was the very real end of their performances together.

DH and I saw this a couple days ago. I liked it, but I think the beginning felt kind of rushed. Mary gave Barrow like 5 minutes before she went off to get Carson. I do have a few complaints. I don't think the Earl would have been so nonchalant about Barrow mouthing off when he got replaced. I think it's unrealistic to think that Branson wouldn't recognize the princess. I know it's not like now with pics on every magazine, etc but there was coverage of her wedding, plus she lived in the area and it seems like their paths would have crossed at some event, or at least that he would have found out what the royal visitors looked like so he didn't make any awkward blunders. Also, the movie prominently features 2 of my least favorite characters, Daisy and Barrow. I could have used less of them, and more of Mr Bates. Heck, I'd have taken a scene of the Earl playing with his dog over Daisy's constant complaining!

After 3 weeks in release Downton chalked up much bigger numbers ($73MM US/$138MM Total) than either Rambo ($40MM US/$65MM Total) or Ad Astra ($43MM US/$112MM Total).
It makes me happy.

I think that goes to show that people want more "feel good" types of movies. There is already so much unrest and violence in the real world that it's nice to go to a movie and just escape for a couple of hours. <3

My dd and I saw it this past weekend. I loved it and my dd who had never seen a single show really liked it too and is going to watch them all now. Our theater only had about 30 people in it (Saturday Matinee) but there was the cutest group of about 15 women seeing it all together. They all had on crowns and were just having the best time. It was such a happy atmosphere! Mary and Granny's scene had me tearing up too. I just love them together!

Just saw it. Exactly what I wanted. I will watch as many as they make w/that same caliber of acting and cinematography. I don't need wild plot points, I just love watching them all in that beautiful place. Mrs. Patmore is one of my faves - I'd watch a movie just about her

I find it funny that Downton was expected to perform least well of the 3 big movies from 3 weeks ago and here it is still going: "Expected to open the lowest among the three new releases is “Downton Abbey,” the film adaptation of the hit ITV/PBS British period drama. The film is projected to open in the $16-20 million range, but has the lowest bar to clear to profitability with a reported budget of approximately $13 million." www.thewrap.com/ad-astra-downton-abbey-rambo-box-office/

We saw Ad Astra and I thought it was a snooze fest. No desire to see Rambo. The minute people heard the first notes of the Downton theme song in the previews, they were talking about it and couldn't wait for it to premiere.

Is it just me, or does this photo look like they are about to go to 3 different parties? They all look good, just such wildly varying degrees of formality!
