OMG, I just looked up the lyrics and all these years I’ve been singing “party on” when they were saying “ba dee ya”. I had no idea!

Glad there wasn't crickets, LOL.
DS just sent the question "do you know what tonight is?" to our family group chat and simultaneously DD and I responded "Do you remember?" (In DH's defense, he was watching college football.)
Of course now I have that song stuck in my head and I will wake up at 2am humming it. So I thought I would share the love with the Peas!
Ba de ya y'all!!

That damn song has been stuck in my head since I woke up today. They were playing it on the news on tv. Then tonight I was shooting the XC team at a local beach and there was a tiny wedding happening. They played that song! With amplification! 😂.
I don’t remember them making that song a thing last year or ever before.

No idea what you're talking about! But ba de ya back at ya! A song by Earth Wind and Fire from the late 70’s.

I'm so bad with lyrics. I totally know that song, but had no idea what the name of it was or that it said anything about September, let alone a specific date! ha!

LOL. I knew the song, the artists and the correct lyrics. (That happens when you are old enough to actually have lived thru the 70’s. Ha)
But this post sent me to search out the Wiki for the song and this is funny:
“Using a chord progression written by Earth, Wind & Fire guitarist Al McKay, vocalist Maurice White and songwriter Allee Willis wrote the song over one month. Willis was initially bothered by the gibberish "ba-dee-ya" lyric White used through the song, and begged him to rewrite it: "I just said, 'What the fuck does 'ba-dee-ya' mean?' And he essentially said, 'Who the fuck cares?' I learned my greatest lesson ever in songwriting from him, which was never let the lyric get in the way of the groove."

The most joyful song EVER! How can you not love it? It is also the night of my first date with my husband - we were 17 and went to a drive-in. Here we are 30 years later, and I'll always remember the 21st night of September!

I saw them in concert a few years ago in a theater type setting. Despite there being little to no room to dance, I've never seen more old people up moving and grooving at any other concert I've ever been to.
'September' stays on my playlist perennially.
