It came up streaming after I had watched Dateline, so not sure if/when this originally aired. Jenna Bush asking her Gammy (George Bush Sr.) questions. What an interesting life and he documented his life with letters to his loved ones and others. What an interesting time. So different than today. Great and endearing episode.

Is this the thread that you said hadn’t received any replies? I’ll reply (even if it is a positive thread about a republican! ) I haven’t seen the show, but I do really admire the marriage of George and Barbara Bush. Their marriage really seemed to be a match of love and mutual respect.

I haven’t seen this show either. I agree that the marriage between Barbara and George was one of the strongest I have seen. An amazing couple.

I didn't realize from the title of the thread who Gammy was (and just passed on by). I love the Bush family. Doesn't matter what political party they are in - a good family is just heartwarming.

i haven't seen it. but, i do find those kinds of stories fascinating. today we can say we "did without or went through" things when we were growing up but it's nothing compared to what that generation went through. The Depression, World War II, rationing. some had no cars, no refrigeration, no telephone, no TV. i really have to check myself when i get irked about not getting free Wi-Fi everywhere i go.
