My doctor confirmed it yesterday The 2yr old was sick with a cold that lasted about 2 weeks. Lovely daycare germs. Just a virus, but required a few nights of sitting in a steamy bathroom and nebulizer treatments. I caught it last Thursday. I was knocked DOWN Friday-Sunday. Literally in bed from 7:30 Friday night to Sunday morning, only getting up to use the washroom and go downstairs to be with the family for short periods of time. Dragged myself, barely, to work yesterday and went to the doctor last night. My cold has turned into bronchitis and a sinus infection. YAY ME! But she was telling me that this is part of something very nasty going around right now. She has actually done a few flu tests because the symptoms look so much like the flu. (they have all been negative) Wash your hands people! Cover your mouths when you sneeze/cough (looking at you lady, in the pharmacy line last night!). Seriously, you don't want to get this.

I had the something similar. It kicked my butt for a good two weeks and I still can’t get rid of the cough. My dr said the same thing about it going around and being pretty bad. Mine also turned into sinus infection

Two of my granddaughters have been sick. It has lasted almost 2 months for one of them, and the other one developed pneumonia. She's been sick for about 3 weeks now.

Just took my DD 16 to her doctor this morning for the same thing after her father took her to Urgent Care on Friday. She received a puffer from them but the cough won't go away. Fingers crossed that the Tessalon Perles fix it and the poor girl can get some sleep. I knew she was sick when she missed 3 days of school in a row.

I work in a radiology clinic and the number of patients walking in here that don't cover their coughs astounds me. When they sit at my desk, I immediately hand them a mask and make them wear it. I pray this winter doesn't take us all out.

Yikes!! I know our prison (where I work) just went through sanitizing everything!! A lot earlier this year that previous. Something starts in here it is spreads like wildfire. Lots of lockdown days for the offenders but unfortunately it is a nightmare when just a few get sick and it spreads. My first winter here the flu had spread within days. It was not fun. (Knock on wood.. I haven't been sick from here!!) And we do the shots and everything.. this place is as clean as a hospital.

I got both the Tessalon and a narcotic cough syrup for the relentless cough yesterday... the perles worked better than the syrup surprisingly. Hope it does the trick for your daughter. I still couldn’t breathe through my nose and was up most of the night, but at least I wasn’t coughing the whole time. Baby steps I guess. I have already been sick for a week and my pcp said to expect another week before I feel better 😩.

he perles worked better than the syrup surprisingly The Tessalon pearls don't work for me at all. I wish they did. Typically the cough syrup with codeine works like a charm at night, and the pearls don't do a thing for me. This time the pearls are helping so much more than the cough syrup. I swear, it's like I am not even taking the cough syrup. I'm still feeling crappy, thankfully not as bad as I was over the weekend though. I need an ambulance though guys. Probably an appt with a funeral director. My husband, the poor man, has a scratchy throat and a 99.5 fever. I don't know how I'm going to go on without him.... 😏

That sounds awful. I hope you can kick this soon. I’ve been sick with rotavirus for a week and I’m exhausted - can’t imagine having a cough and lung infection along with it.

I think I have it too. I have the dry hacking cough for a few days and I swear my lungs rattled when I breathed yesterday but that seems to be gone. I had planned on getting my flu shot this week but will have to wait until the plauge passes.

When I got sick at the beginning of September, I assumed it was a regular cold and I'd shake it off in a couple days. Wrong! It's a mean and prolonged event. I was flat on my back for a long weekend too. Lots of rest, strong cough meds, and patience gets you through it. I hope everyone at your house feels better before too long.

Interesting thread because now I see my son's experience in all of you. He was here this summer as usual, to work the job he's had for years (director of a strategy gaming cam for older elementary age through middle school-ish age). He developed a cold after about a week and blamed the kids at camp. The cold got worse, then seemed to get better except for the darn cough. Then one of his ears became blocked, and the cough continued, and he just generally felt worse. H went to a doctor, got some antibiotics, and they didn't really work. He was still not feeling well when he drove back to Georgia, and then when he got home he felt a LOT worse and his throat started hurting. He went to a doctor down there who diagnosed him with strep AND mono!! Thankfully he has a lovely girl friend who swung into action.... she texted me that she'd picked up his medications, and was on her way to the grocery store to buy Gatorade and juice and some canned soup "just until I can make some tonight after work". He's recovered now but it took about a month.
