I don't want to offend anyone who says it, but I just don't get it. Why don't you just say what you're feeling? Why do I have to guess?
I've seen it around here locally on fb groups, and now I've read it in a national publication.
Do people say this in your area? Is this an old time thing? I'm a pretty easy going individual but this just makes me feel some type of way.
from the slang dictionary: feel some kind of way
To be obviously upset by something; having obvious negative feelings about a situation is to be feeling some kind of way.
I could tell by the way she was acting she was feeling some kind of way about her boyfriend.

From the Urban Dictionary: some type of way
A phrase meaning I'm unable to express the complexity of the emotion at the moment. Can be used seriously or in jest.
That ain't even how you spose to talk to nobody. I'm feelin some type of way about ya dumb ass.
I'm feelin some type of way about this n***a callin me in the hoe hours of the morning.

it's not an old timey thing, its younger generations. I say it, like this sentence it's just a way to convey emotions that are hard to express. Or in a sarcastic sense which i also use frequently. ππ

It's not supposed to be literal or even make sense.
I don't use it regularly, but I use it jokingly sometimes... usually when my husband has done something dumb that's not a big deal. Like when I discovered yesterday he forgot my leftover pizza in his car the night before and I didn't have it to eat for lunch like I wanted.

I've heard it, but not recently. I'm not often around "the younger generation" so have no idea about their use or the resurgence of it. I hear it in my head with a southern drawl and emphasis on 'some,' not sure why. To me, it expresses that you definitely have feelings on a topic but aren't yet sure what they are. "What do you think of the new tax?" "Well, I'm feeling SOME type of way about it!"

I heard it first several years ago. It was said by someone in her late 20s and was a phrase she used often.
I've used it a couple of times, but always just in a joking manner. And the person I was talking to knew exactly how I was feeling.

People in my area are using it when they call 911 for an ambulance. It is crazy...I then have to ask...what kind of way are you feeling lol...just makes things take longer.

Never heard of it. I have always managed to find words to explain how I feel at any given moment if necessary. But if itβs a current cool phrase, then so be it. Language is always coming up with new stuff π

I've haven't heard that terminology before.
I would take it to mean "feeling out of sorts", "not feeling like one's usual self", with the cause being a variety of reasons >>> tired, irritated about something, annoyed, a bit under the weather healthwise, having one of those days where nothing seems to go right or as planned, etc..

It is definitely a younger/newer term, not old-timey.

I don't think it would bother me.

I think it's more about the level of the emotion than the actual emotion. Like when it's said, the emotion should already be understood based on the context of the situation, it's just there for emphasis.
