This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . If you are doing the Team Challenges, this challenge is worth one point for each page when you complete all 4. So that's 4 points for completing the Pokey Pea Challenge. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Fall is definitely in the air here. The high all week will be 68 degrees. I hate to think about winter coming, but my trees are rapidly changing so I know it's coming.
I am looking forward to Cardtober here starting tomorrow. I hope each of the Pokey Peas have time to do a bit of crafty, scrappy therapy this month. Notice in the above post that you will now get 4 points for completing this challenge if you are involved in team challenges.

Thanks for starting the new thread nylene. I'm looking forward to Fall - it's starting to cool off here overnight (into the low 70s) but it's still in the low 90s during the day

Good Morning! Happy October! How can it be already?! We are still hot and humid in the 90's here but have had a few days that felt like fall during September. It's supposed to cool off in a couple of days. I'm ready. I feel like I lost track of everyone last month. All it takes is a busy week at work and I'm down for the count. Yay for more points in the pokey challenge! I've got to get better about posting in this thread. linda I'm pretty sure I saw you on my team this month!! I'm so glad! I'm still wondering what kind of crazy I was the day I volunteered to lead a team lol. My son is getting settled into his new place and Rudy is very excited about his new room and I'm very excited to have my space back and hopefully more scrapping through the week! One of my nieces is getting married on Saturday. My mom fell and broke her wrist a couple weeks ago, and then ended up in the hospital this week because the pain pills were making her so sick. It's been chaotic for sure. But mom went home yesterday which is good. I hope to be around a little more this month and better able to stay caught up with everyone ETA nylene is on my team too!! Whoo Hoo!! Go Pokey's!

nylene, thanks for the new thread. I'm so sorry for the discouraging eye appointment. I hope that he will have good close vision to continue his amazing wood working for a long time to come. Hugs to you and him. Linda, happy belated anniversary!! and happy early birthday to your dd! it's starting to cool off here overnight (into the low 70s) but it's still in the low 90s during the day and this is not cooling off. lol. I know it is for FL. joyfulnana, I was hoping your work would start slowing for you toward the beginning of fall. I guess you'll get the influx of snow birds moving south for winter though. kellyr21, amazing. I love seeing this process. It's cooling off here as well, although not yesterday or today which is hot (mid-80s) and humid (80%). Probably still a welcomed temperature to you, Linda. We'll probably shut the pool down this weekend. My older brother reached out to me last week. He's going to be getting a divorce and is currently unemployed. He was an editor for non-profit print publications, however, I don't think he did well in the change over to internet based publication. You have to change with the times. His lack of work over the last few years sounds like the cause for the divorce. So it looks like he's going to come stay with us for awhile. He's never met my dd14 at all and ds17 was 18months the last I saw him. It will be nice for them to get to know their uncle a bit. Hopefully we can help him in a new life plan. DH has asked his dad and wife to Thanksgiving and one of his brothers. All have said yes. I think he's going to ask his mom too. So I best get to unpacking boxes and getting organized. Happy October!

Thanks for the new thread, nylene. Thanks for the extra points for Pokeys! I feel I neglected this little corner of the world last month, but hoping to stop in here more often in October. It is DEFINITELY fall, here. Some mornings the grass is crunchy with frost when I walk Kandi. The forecast had been for warmer this week. Hope it doesn't change. We still have most of our potatoes in the ground. They had not matured enough last week when we tested them, and they usually do after the first frost, so we left them. It is wonderful that your db has you to reach out to, LisaDV, but does this mean you are losing your new craft room to a full time bedroom? Noooooo…. I was thinking you had a lot going on before Thanksgiving, (it occurs here on October 14th!) but then I remembered that the US holiday is not until November. Whew! We will have dd and her little family here for our Thanksgiving weekend, and dh's sister's family here for dinner on the Sunday. I have committed to the turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy and a hot veg. Everything else will be pot lucked. Hoping you get some time to use your new scrappy space, joyfulnana. Will you still be seeing little Rudy every day? I will be getting some grandparenting in this upcoming week. Tomorrow I drive to dd's to stay with her little guy while she is away for the weekend at a conference. He will be in school Thursday Friday and Monday so of course I am planning to pack some scrapbooking tools and supplies. A bit easier to do this week b/c I will have my car so don't have pack stuff up to fly. Thinking, justjac, you will be busy with LOAD this month. You always turn out great pages for them. I have signed up for LOAD, and have agreed to do a sample LO for one of the prompts, but I am a terrible LOAD player. I might get 31 pages done this month, but they won't be done one at a time, one per day, each on prompt. I laughed when I saw your weather had cooled off, Linda, until I remembered the 100F temps earlier in the year there. Loved your challenge about fall colours. Just printed some pic's of dgs playing in the leaves, so I can definitely use some of those for that challenge. I set up the teams, but don't remember which one I am on... Well, I have a couple of other things to do here on the net, and then need to get moving. Our Thanksgiving is in less than two weeks, and I will be gone 7 days in between, so the crunch is on... Dh has some appointments in town this morning so it is my opportunity to wash the kitchen/dining/hallway floor. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit I have to do to clear stuff away before the actual washing starts.

Oh wow LisaDV! That's great that your brother will be able to spend time with all of you and get to know your kids! I hope he's able to get himself on his feet again soon. And busy busy getting ready for Thanksgiving! I bet that will be such a fun (and stressful) time! It sounds wonderful! It seems like you barely got the pool open though. The summer went so quickly! But I'm ready for the cooler weather and slower work days They are coming! grammadee you've already had light frost?! You didn't get a very long summer either! Sounds like you will be having a fun filled busy Thanksgiving as well! I haven't given much thought to it yet. I will probably still Rudy once or twice through the week, but will only have him for a sleepover one night every other weekend. I'm going to have withdrawal I'm sure! DS doesn't have all his cook wear sorted yet so they will be coming here to raid my fridge for dinner lol. I could never be a true LOADER. I just scrap too slow. Maybe when I have more time during the week my productivity will improve (and my team points lol)

nylene I'm sorry to read about Steve's eye appointment. It is definitely fall here. Highs of 5 C which is 40 F (I googled!) I remember when we hoped first snow would hold off until Halloween, but we already had it yesterday although it did all melt already. kellyr21 thanks for sharing your work in progress. LisaDV you are going to have a very full house in November! joyfulnana I love LOAD. Somehow it works for me. grammadee I didn't sign up for the October challenge because I don't need help with my mojo this month and honestly I usually just make my pages and then see which points apply. And the tallying of the points is a lot of work for me. I was always more of a LOADster and less of a Calvinballer. I will be hosting for Cardtober, though.

LisaDV , I hope your brother finds a new direction and change of life while with you. Will you have to give up that new scraproom? You are brave to host so many for Thanksgiving. I hope things go well for you and you accomplish all you need to do. joyfulnana , I'm glad Rudy is still close enough for you to enjoy. I'm sure he's excited about a new bedroom. I hope work slows down for you soon. You have had a busy month and here you are hosting this month. I'm happy to be on your team. grammadee , you have a lot to do before Thanksgiving. I hope you have a safe drive to your DD's and that you can scrap a bit while babysitting. Have fun with them. justjac , you are amazing to keep up with LOAD. I know I am a Pokey Scrapper, but if I could add an extra 12 hours to each day, I still would not be able to keep up! You are a trooper! Linda , do you have family plans for Halloween? ABCreations , you accomplished a lot last month. I hope this month is as productive. kellyr21 , how's the painting going? My poor husband! To add insult to injury, his glasses broke this morning. We hurried down at 8 am to see if they could fix them, but it's not possible. They won't be able to replace them until Friday at the earliest. We have Recovery meetings the next 3 nights and he won't be able to read anything. I know he is discouraged. He hasn't decided if he can be of any help at work the rest of the week. It's going to be a long week at this house!

nylene - oh no! your poor DH (and poor you) I hope the glasses will be ready asap. Not sure if we have Hallowe'en plans or not - I do want to take DD12 to the local farm stand and get some fall pumpkin photos. Maybe a local corn maze as well. I think she still plans to dress up but she hasn't asked me to sew anything this year.

Happy Wednesday! It is a beautiful day here and I loved taking my walk earlier. It has been so hot I couldn't do much exercise during the day so I was walking at night. So now it feels so good to be able to walk anytime I want to. Did you all watch any of the HSN craft shows? This morning when I was half sleep, I saw one of those Anna Griffin Christmas card kits on sale. I ordered that baby so fast! LOL! Even though I make my own cards for Christmas, I love her kits. All I need is adhesive and my imagination. Love that option. nylene- Thanks for the new thread! You keep us stable here. I appreciate you! So sorry to hear about your dh's situation. I hope he gets his glasses soon. He is a real trooper and so are you. Hang in there! My art is almost finished. One or two of the faces need a little more so I am working on it today. grammadee- Hope you are feeling better and enjoying your sweet new puppy. For years, no pets were allowed here but I have noticed the manager and a few others have small dogs or cats. So if the rule is lifted, I hope I can get a pet. A cat is easier for our apartment living but I really want a dog. So my fingers are crossed! LisaDV- You are so generous to open your home to your db. I hope things go well for him and your family.

Oh, poor Steve! I hope he can relax a bit and not drive you nuts this week, nylene. My BIL has been off work for almost all of September. He's been getting dizzy and has double vision and headaches. They've ruled out some minor issues and some major ones. They think it's some sort of palsy (I forget the name). However, we're hopeful that a fix can be had if appointments can be made. He's like Steve and always busy and working so sitting around the house is driving him crazy and my sister is taking the brunt of that. So, dear nylene, you have my empathy and sympathy. joyfulnana, facetime or google duo for talking to Rudy might help the withdrawals. justjac, I always love your LOAD pages. I admire that you can work with those prompts as I struggle with being told what to do. kellyr21, I'm so glad it's cooled off enough for you to walk. Today, it was 67 for a high here. But it was a fall 67 and not a spring 67. You could feel the cool crispness in the air and feel it. Many people had on jackets! I was just chanting, not yet, not yet. lol Linda, happy 13th to your baby girl!!! I hope she is having a fun-tastic birthday!

Oh nylene that's terrible about Steve's glasses! I can't even imagine how hard it would be to be losing your sight to begin with. I can understand why he's feeling a little useless right now. I hope things look up for him soon! And that the week went fast for YOU and wasn't too much stress! linda your fall photo shoot sounds fun! I think I would miss the turning of the leaves and having 4 seasons, no matter how I complain about them sometimes lol. A different niece of mine text me photos of costumes she is getting for her family. They are all going to be characters from Mario Bros lol. It's been a long time since I've had to do costumes for my kids. I hope DD will dress up, it's a little sad when they give that up. justjac I love the idea of LOAD but I know my limits lol I think it's amazing that you can complete it! And to be hosting for CARDtober too. I wish I had your energy lol. Man, 40 is cold! Way too early for temps like that. Yay for cooler weather kellyr21! I love fall. It's my favorite season. I cannot wait to see your painting when it's finished. Well LisaDV so far I haven't had to miss him LOL. Rudy was here while his dad and grandpa unloaded a truck full of furniture. He brought his chicken nuggets with him, but still ended up with apple slices and PBJ. I was making those and thinking "This is different at all so far" lol. It's going to be a process and I think if it's a slow one if will be good for all of us. Fall is here finally! I don't think it quite hit 60 today and things are slowing way down this week at work. But so far that extra time to scrap hasn't appeared And the weekend is going to be busy with a wedding and Rudy's bday party at Skyzone on Sunday. it's a trampoline park and has obstacle course and walls to climb ( I think). I'm not sure if I will participate or be an observing photographer lol. I hope you all are having a great wind down to the weekend!

Hooray for new glasses this afternoon. They called to say they came in a day early and we hurried right down. I can't believe how much better DH feels to be able to see a bit better. He could follow along at the meeting tonight. He can't ever read because it's too slow with big letters on his ipad, but he could follow along with the reading. On Tues. He didn't even try because without glasses he couldn't get the letters big enough. joyfulnana , you know that chicken nuggets are good, but there's nothing like PB&J and apples prepared by grandma! I hope Rudy's b-day party goes well. That should be a lot of fun with trampolines and climbing walls. kellyr21 , I am glad it's nice walking weather for you. It's not too cold to walk yet, but it's pretty nippy in the mornings. I walked to my friend's home this afternoon and back without my jacket. Just a little chilly. grammadee , have you felt ok while you are away? I hope you have a safe trip home LisaDV , I hope things go well with your brother. I hope they find out what his issue is and have a way to fix it. It was Alex's birthday yesterday and he asked his mom if I was going to make him a cool card. She said, "Of course", and then called me and asked if I was planning to make him a cool card. I made a card I bought a file for at the Design Store. It's an Insta Cube. It looks like a little drawer and when you pull the center, it pops out into a square box. I forgot to take a photo, but I'm helping a card club friend make one on Monday, so I'll photograph that one. He was plenty impressed and pulled it out, time after time.

Happy Friday! I hope you all are doing well. I ordered a Christmas card kit on HSN on Tuesday and it was delivered today! Now that is quick service. I hope to share them with my craft group or some other loved ones. It will be fun to make them together.
Here is part 3 of my art. I love when they start to take a personality and come to life. I am almost finished and hope to get it done today.

nylene- So happy your dh got his glasses!!!! I know that is a relief for the both of you. Have a restful weekend now.
grammadee- The World Card Making activities will be fun. So glad we are celebrating it here. I am still a fellow cardmaker and love to see the cards everyone will make. I am not sure I will be able to join in but I know you all will make some pretty cards.
Waving hello to you all and have a good weekend!

Yay for new glasses, nylene. How is he recovering from all the medical procedures? How sweet that Alex was looking forward to his special card! Hope you can show us a pic of it. I have been enjoying your CARDtober cards. I haven’t made any yet except the sample for day one. Loving seeing your painting come together, kellyr21. Sweet that Rudy treasures Gramma’s special touches, joyfulnana. You will always have a very special place in his heart. I am exhausted after four days with a hyperactive 6 year old. Two of those days he was in school(and I scrap booked some pages here at the house) but yesterday and today it was just us. We were busy on the go yesterday. He had a project for school that we made a scrapbook page for. Did some errands and shopping and then took him to his very first movie in a theatre (Abominable). He didn’t think he would be able to focus through a whole movie, but he did really well. Today was a good day. He played hockey in the morning then hung out with some of his team mates and siblings at the rink and watched part of a minor league game. The sun was shining and the street was full of neighbourhood kids when we got home, and they had a blast bike riding, sharing toys, and playing at the neighbourhood park. By the time we came in to fix supper, he was flagging, so I sent him up for a shower. Then it was supper and bed and he was out like a light. I don’t think I will be that far behind him!

nylene, so glad Steve got his new glasses! I can't wait to see that card. Sounds so neat. kellyr21, beautiful art already! I love seeing this process. joyfulnana, how was the party? Did you participate? grammadee, what is flagging? Will you be having people over for Thanksgiving? DH has been struggling with back pain for a month and it started creeping down his arm with some strength loss in his right hand. So he finally went to the Dr. last Friday. It's a pinched nerve. I spent the weekend trying to keep him from lifting anything heavy and trying to get him to relax. They gave him a muscle relaxer and a stronger ibuprofen. So he's been taking those. Now that he's starting to relax he says he can actually feel where it's pinched and his strength is starting to return to his right hand. After starting DH on the ice/heat routine the doctor gave him which takes about 2 hours to get through, I put up a shelf in the new craft room closet and started putting stuff away. Since DH has been struggling with back pain and traveling on weekends to the farm after traveling for work since mid-September, our grass is a bit higher than he'd like. It's not as bad as it would have been earlier in the year so there is that plus. However, he wants to bag it so that means push mowing since the rider doesn't have a bagger. With his back I don't want him doing it, so that's my plan for today and tomorrow. I didn't want to start it on the weekend with him home as he'd be prone to helping. Then back to sorting boxes and organizing for the rest of the week.

LisaDV by “flagging” I meant running out of steam. I hope your dh’s Back improves. I used to get good results with a chiropractor for pinched nerve in my back and dd went to one last winter for similar issue and after a few appointments it was resolved.

justjac, I love seeing your layouts. I will leave it to you to share whatever you'd like here. I usually catch them in the gallery, but some here don't have an account, so post what you'd like on this thread. I love learning more about you and your family through your layouts. kellyr21, I love seeing your "women" come to life and develop personalities. What a gift you have! Congrats on getting a beautiful card kit. I forgot the Crafty stuff was going to be on TV until it was over. LisaDV, I am so sorry about your DH and his back. I found that if I could rest and be very careful for 2 days, the next day I could walk and walk and walk and the following day I'd feel a lot better. I hope the muscle relaxers can give him relief and that time and conservative care will make him well. Now...don't you put your back out doing things that you shouldn't do! (said in my motherly advise voice) grammadee, I giggled about keeping up with a 6 year old boy. Alex just turned 7 this week and he wears me out when I tend him. Always on the go, always wanting me to be on the go with him. Glad he enjoyed the movie. DH recovered from his Derm surgery, but has several more to do. We haven't heard back on the biopsy near his eye. He's so glad to have his glasses back. That was a long and blind week. joyfulnana, I posted a card like Alex's in the gallery. His were boy colors and this is for a granddaughter, but the idea is the same. He's going to wear his out popping the cube out time after time. I had a friend from card club come today to use my Silhouette to cut pieces for her cards this month. I also taught her how to do the insta cubes. It was a fun afternoon together. I finished the card #7 for today but need to wait until morning to photograph it. I spent all day Saturday making cards.

I am home and looking forward to crawling into my own bed--and NOT having someone wake me up before 6:00AM! Although I have to say of all the ways of waking up, having a 6 year old crawl into bed for a snuggle first thing in the morning is one of the best! Drove home today. Stopped first at a LSS to pay for my kits which are not quite ready yet (she will mail them out when the last pieces have arrived in stock), and then at Costco before leaving the city. Then I stopped at Sobey's on the way home to pick up my turkey and some other essentials for this next weekend. Tomorrow I need to finish unpacking my vehicle. And I want to photograph the pages I put together while at dd's and get them into an album. Managed to do 14 pages, and all but one of them are complete. That one needed a couple of things to be added from my stash at home. None of those pages matches the prompt I was given for the LOAD sample I committed to, so I will need to get that one done here before the weekend. Dgs really wanted to scrapbook, so we did a page for his school assignment. (He had to tell the class about a place he likes to visit, so he picked our farm). He was quite focussed while putting that page together, but had the most fun later cutting up papers into small pieces with my cutter and scissors, and of course using the glue. Of course I have photos of the scrapbooking demon at work! Got an email from the ladies we attended the crop with in Calgary in the summer and they are setting up a Christmas card exchange. Was wondering if the Pokeys would like to do a holiday card exchange again? Going to tag the people who participated last year, some Pokeys we haven't seen for awhile, as well as the people who are dropping in here fairly regularly now. If you think of someone else who should be included, please feel free to tag them... nylene, @elaynef, Linda, justjac, joyfulnana, LisaDV, kellyr21, maribeth, justlisa7, patin, msliz, knutschen, woodysbetty, shinyhappytina

I just lost a long post! ARRGH. grammadee , I love that sweet photo. He's so blessed to have a fun place to visit with a grandma and grandpa there too! I can't believe you finished 14 pages. You are a Speedy Pokey Pea. I have broken a big piece of the crown on my front tooth. They can't get me in to fix it until next Wed. On top of that I dropped my glasses from my lap to the carpet and the lens popped out. I had to take it to the optical center so they could fix it. These "rimless" glasses have been a pain. So today I decided to forego cleaning my fridge and I spent the time in my scraproom. I need to post 4 cards here to qualify for the Pokey Pea Challenge, so here goes. Have A Great DayQuilt Happy Birthday CardInsta Cube b-day cardMerry Christmas Window The Wish card is the popping one I made for Alex. When you pull the tab a flat piece comes out and POPS into a cube.

Hi Pokey Peas! Sorry it's been too long since I've ventured over to the thread, or even the Challenge board at all. Since early spring, I've only been scrapping one day a month, at a crop, and not even every month. Lots of scrapbook shopping though! Not sure that's such a good thing, but I look for the sales and I haven't been overdoing it. The family is doing well, just keeping me busy. I'm looking forward to December when I can jump back into scrapping and go non-stop until next spring! Tonight I'm hoping to go back and read through the last couple of months of Pokey Pea news. Hoping to find you all in good health!
