Welcome to CARDtober! Are you ready for your first challenge? Create a card using this picture as inspiration. You can use the colours, the scene, the trees, whatever catches your attention when you look at this photo. winter-sunset-1024x768-1207051 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Here is the card that I came up with. It's a Christmas card, but yours could be for any occasion. CARDtober #1 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr If you are playing along with the October Team Challenges, or if you just like an added twist, here it is: Use something GLITTERY on your card. I used gems for the birdie eyes and some Nuvo glitter drops as sparkle and shadow on the snow. When you create a card based on this challenge, please share it in this thread. Would love to see what you come up with. POINTS: One point to create a card based on this challenge + one BONUS point for using something glittery on your card. And Happy CARDtober!

I chose the colours for inspiration - only a simple card, sorry. It's not wonky irl - that's my photography skills (or lack thereof) at work

Very pretty, grammadee ! The inclusion of raised texture with your mixed media work is great. Those two blue robbins away from their usual celestial habitat is such a nice contrasting touch. I love your reversed take on the sunset colours, Linda . That soft peach and muted lavender go perfectly together. grammadee I played around with watercolours a bit to create a simple wash background inspired by your photo. It still needs drying (and I need sleep now ) so I'll be back tomorrow with the final result.

Linda, I love how your grabbed the colours and ran with it. Quick turnaround but a great card! And a basic card design that could be lifted in ANY colour. Such a pretty card, nylene. Love the contrast between the inked background and the black diecut. This is a look I try for often, but you have NAILED it!

gorgeous card nylene - love the colours with the black! I don't have inks/colours - just a black ink pad - so I'm a bit limited on how involved my cards can be.

Linda, there is nothing wrong with simple. I liked how you stamped your sentiment. Nylene, beautiful card! Since I am trying to use scraps this month, I looked to see if I had any scraps that I could use for this challenge, and decided to go with the purple embossed card stock to focus on the purple tones of the sunset, along with the pink and blue in the striped paper. Both were from my scrap folder. Do pearls count for the “glittery” twist? I used pearls for the centers of my tiny stamped and shaped flowers.

That card is gorgeous, scrapnnana! Love all the depth with the embossing and the shaped flowers. The curved edge is a nice look too.

grammadee - I love how it feels like it's snowing in the background linda - funny I thought I was the only one who tooks pictures crooked. I love that you went with the colors for inspiration. nylene - Pretty silhoutte against that background. Very nice! @ scrapnnana - Love the pretty purple and curve, nicely done! Love that picture so I attempted to make something out of stampscapes, pretty sure it's kind of a fail but oh well I tried. I really struggle with coloring these cards. stampscapes-blue by Dictionary-1, on Flickr

Disclaimer: sh*tty cardmaker coming through. (I only make about five a year.) Finally finished the front panel for the card inspired by your challenge, grammadee . I really like how it came out in the end although it's a very simple design. All watercolours, no Copics here. I'll mount this on the card base when my heavyweight cardstock order makes it through customs...

scrapnnana, I love your beautiful card. Purple is my favorite scrap color so this really speaks to me. I love your shaped flowers and the shine of the pearls. Lovely work. sleepingbooty, your little ghosties are so cute. I love the way they are flying over the skyline. Your background inking is perfect. Did you draw those skyscrapers? Nothing wrong with this card. I love it. marg, your penguins are amazing. I love the yellow you have added. They look so real. I love the stitched hills of snow. Great job of inking the background! Very pretty card.
