Anyone have a pencil sharpener that actually works and stands the test of time? Thanks Jen

I used to use the more expensive ones that were electric. The ones where the pencil is 180 degrees to the table top not 45. It worked much better than the cheaper ones.

I have a Boston electric sharpener that I've had for 30+ years. Granted I don't use it as much as I used to but it's still going strong!

No one will be able to help you because they don't exist, LOL!
My parents have a manual Boston sharpener in their basement that is 40+ years old. It sharpens like butter. When they die, the number one thing I want from their estate is that pencil sharpener!

I have two sharpeners from Classroom Friendly Supplies in my classroom that are not electric but they are quiet, easy to use, and sharpen pencils quickly. I will caution you that they do sharpen the tips of pencils very well, and I suppose the tips could be dangerous if kids run with the pencils or poke others with them. My fifth graders do not have a problem with that. They don't do that kind of stuff and they like the fact that the pencils are so sharp. They like writing with them that way. The pencil sharpeners are reasonably priced and you can buy replacement blades for them when necessary.

The sharpener leaves my counter very dirty, but it sharpens the pencils like a dream.

I cleaned off a teacher's table the other day and it took 4 Clorox wipes and 3 paper towels to get all of the gunk off of it.

I have this pencil sharpenerI paid $50 for it at Staples. I thought it was the best $50 I had spent until I saw Amazon's price. This is the third year I've had it.

I have two of these and only two kids are allowed to use them. They can sharpen the pencils the kids can borrow. When I let everyone use it, they break it right away.

When they die, the number one thing I want from their estate is that pencil sharpener! This is what I was going to say, which I realize is no help. It's the truth, though. My grandmother had one of these in her classroom. My mom inherited it for her classroom and we had another at home. Still going strong 40+ yrs later. They're great. Occasionally I see them at yard sales or thrift stores.

I have the same blue X-Acto one as a PP. I also paid WAY more than Amazon's price! It is an "adults only" sharpener though. That was out of my own pocket (my classroom doesn't have a manual one) but worth it.
