The Ordinary as an alternative, on the budget friendly side Garden of Wisdom also have a good option. Their Vit C is supposed to be excellent too I tried TO vit C and hated it. Ended up tossing the tube. It had an awful smell and I didn't care for the texture. Currently I'm using the Peter Roth Thomas Potent-C Power Serum (sometimes switch it out with the glycolic). It has 20% Vit C, 3% Vit E and 2% Ferulic Acid. The smell is better than TO and I like the texture of the serum. the TO Vitamin C cream is the only one of their products that i didn't care for at all. it was in a silicone suspension (i think) and it left the worst feeling on my skin. didn't like it at all. i had to ditch that type and go with something more liquid.

OMG, when i think of the stuff i used to do to my skin and put on my skin when i was younger yes especially all those "scrubs" and alcohol based products that really irritated your skin and just kept making it worse. I also tried Ela Bache products, so expensive at the time & I my skin just got worse and worse on that as well.

Morning is sunscreen and a product that works like Botox but it’s a gel. Then foundation and makeup.
Evening Take the Day Off and then cleanse with Caudelie gel cleanser for a second cleanse. Then Tatcha Vitamin C, the my Botox gel, then Retin A 0.025% and I use it 2x week because my skin is sensitive. I then finish with a moisturizer and I have Belif Aqua Bomb, Drunk Elephant B Hydra, or SkinCeuticals cream. I am only faithful 4-5x week. If anything is too heavy I wash it all off and leave it alone.
Retin A is my secret ingredient. I am not sure if all Retinols are the same . I have every strength of Retin A on the market in 3 forms (gel, Micro Gel and cream).
The Vivier gel is cool and it feels like a bra for your skin. It’s not tight like alcohol would strip it. It’s firmness. It wears off in a few hours and it’s supposed to soften fine lines and wrinkles. I am guinea pigging this for my dermatologist and they had to order in another 12 bottles as they sold out this morning. So far I love it.

And then the clearasil chaser. It's a wonder my face didn't completely burn off with all that crap. Then, in an effort to"heal", I essentially did nothing more than soap and water for the next couple of decades. Now, thanks to the internet and its wealth of information and online shipping, I've found the routine that works.

I do practically nothing and I need to start. I'm starting to see some fine lines and a little puffiness under my eyes. Right now I wash my face in the shower with a washcloth and Dr Bronner's lavender soap and at night, if I remember, I apply some olay regenerist cream around my eyes. After reading here and in another thread I went ahead and ordered a few things from The Ordinary and will try them out. I also downloaded the app. It's been helpful already.
eta: I wear sunscreen on my face every day. I use oil of olay sensitive because I don't want to use avobenzone and it's hard to find affordable face sunscreen without it. I go through several bottles every summer.

I keep it very simple. Wash with Cera Ve, then wipe with Miceller Water to make sure all makeup is gone. Retinoid cream several nights a week. Always sunscreen. In the winter, hyaluronic moisturizer under the sunscreen.
That’s it.

Bumping this up instead of starting a new thread... Has anyone tried the new Pro Strength Lactic Acid Treatment form Peter Thomas Roth? If so what do you think of it? It has great reviews on Sephora, but I'm always skeptical about whether or not bad reviews are culled there. And I'm also not exactly sure why I want it lol. I use The Ordinary 10% lactic acid a couple times a week now and like it. Wondering if this magic 30% treatment would perform miracles As usual, I'm being tempted by new and shiny.

Has anyone tried the new Pro Strength Lactic Acid Treatment form Peter Thomas Roth? Not yet...lol I'm currently using the Sunday Reily Good Genes which I think has 7% lactic acid and I really like that so far although it's only been two weeks. The PTR line sounds good and I've read some reviews of people who love it. Looking at the ingredients the two products are very similar. Can you go into Sephora and ask for a sample? That might be enough to make you decide if it's different enough to want to buy or if it mostly feels the same as The Ordinary. I know I'm a bit of a sucker for good marketing and attractive bottles, there's something that feels "good" about buying those products like you are treating yourself as opposed to the more clinical brands like TO or Paula's Choice. But once you've worked out what's good on your skin, it's definitely cheaper to buy TO or PC for the same effect.

I still use Drunk Elephant Sukari Babyfacial once a week, but I love PTR’s Retinol Fusion PM and use it nightly so I’d probably trust their other products. I’ll check out the PTR treatment when I’m finished with the Drunk Elephant.

Looking at the ingredients the two products are very similar The ingredients are similar, but the strength is not. The Ordinary is 10% lactic acid (and a leave-on treatment) and the PTR is 30% (and a wash-off treatment). That's a good idea to ask for a sample, though. I always forget to do that.

I don’t wear much make up at all. Maybe some light foundation once in a while but other than that, lipgloss or lipstick. I wash my face with water in the morning and in the shower with soap at night. I tend to have dry skin so I don’t like to go heavy on make up or products. Then I use Neutrogena moisturizer and Oil of Olay. People tell me I look younger than my years but sometimes I don’t know if I agree with that or not.

Simple is the name of the game for me. As long as I clean and moisturize with some exfoliation once a week I am good to go.
I use Clinique cleansers. Clear one during Spring and Summer. Thicker (pale pink) during Fall and Winter.
For moisturizing I use The Ordinary Squalane oil drops. This stuff has been LIFE CHANGING for my skin.
For exfoliation I really like Become Beauty Reveal Enzyme Peel. Using this and you can feel the skin just slough off without any harsh, rough ingredients. The stuff is like a gel/cream combo that lifts the dead skin right off so it can be rinsed away. The only downside is you can only buy this stuff from a rep since Become Beauty is a direct marketing company (like Mary Kay).
I use PUR makeup with SPF since I can't wear most SPF creams on a daily basis without my face breaking out like crazy. If we are going to the beach I will use Blue Lizard sensitive skin face cream for protection.
