my ears off.... a song called Truth Hurts by Lizzo?? I don't know who this gal is or even what the words are but I swear they play this song at LEAST every 1/2 hour.. I cannot STAND it.. I have to literally turn off the radio every time it comes on. I hear the first few beats and off it goes. I do this all day long unless I switch the station to another format of music.. like country.. which I do..

I have heard her name out there, but didn't know really what song she was linked too until I looked it up for this post.. .because of course it's like on it's 3rd time around since 2 hours ago. Her voice is like fingernails on the chalkboard.. I don't know about her flute playing..

I had to Google it because I didn't immediately recognize the song title/artist, but yeah, that would get old quick. I’m not a huge fan of stuff like that to begin with. The ones that would send me reaching to change the station are Praying by Kesha and that stupid Rednecker song (I don’t even know who sings it, I just hate it). The Kesha song doesn’t start out horrible, but once she starts screeching I’m out. The Rednecker lyrics are so incredibly mind numbingly dumb I start feeling dumber myself every time that idiotic song comes on. It’s made worse by the fact that my DH and DD think it’s funny how much I hate it so they can’t wait to point it out when the first few bars start playing.   |

I knew exactly which song you were talking about and had no idea of the name of it or the artist. I cannot stand it, either- makes my ears hurt the first few seconds until I change the station. I don't see how anyone listens to that! Yeah, I'm old and I do like most current music, but geez...

I love Lizzo and most of her music, as do my kids. Her music is very "girl anthem" and she's crazy talented, but I understand she's not everyone's cup of tea.

I was expecting something worse than that, LOL! I don't listen to pop music at all except when I see someone covered in the press a lot, I'll check it out, just to see what the fuss is about. The pop music I can't stand is when female singers do a lot of runs and caterwauling and/or the auto tune makes them sound like robots.

My DD introduced me to her. She is on my Spotify playlist. I think you have to be in a certain mood to understand and "get" her songs. I will say I am in that mood here lately and play those songs loud and with my sunroof open. And hope that my neighbors didn't see my cleaning my patio and wall of windows a couple of weeks ago. I had her blasting in my ears and there might have been a bit of movement going on.

Well the thing is about music there is enough for everyone!!! My nails on a chalkboard might be someone else's favorite song ever.. LOL...
For some reason though this one just seems like on repeat every 2 minutes... and if I even if I sorta liked it in the beginning, repeat over and over again wouldn't have helped.. HA
If someone was holding me hostage and played this song, I would spill my guts in about 2.2 seconds.

She's not everyone's cup of tea but I love her and think she's enormously talented. I love the flute and I love the message of so many of her songs -- body positivity, it's ok to be alone, loving yourself, etc., etc. I normally am not a fan of this style of music AT ALL but heard Truth Hurts on the radio and sought out more music by her. If this is a broadcast radio station you’re talking about, then they’re probably just playing the same 20 songs over and over again. I was without Sirius XM for a few weeks when I switched cars and I swear I only heard about 10 songs on repeat on our local pop station.

That song is on my personal misheard lyrics list. I have awful hearing I guess because I never know what they're saying. I mishear a LOT of lyrics.
So I was like, "What's bone lighting?" I had to look it up.

If so, that's a touching song, only because she wrote if from her perspective. She was verbally abused by her manager (not sure if she was also raped) for so long. I admire her for writing it!
As far as most current songs, they ALL sound the same. I'm so sick of it. They have the same tracks in their songs. Either that stupid baby sound, or the club "in and out" sound...... I read a great article about current pop songs and how most of them are only a tiny portion of new work. The rest is mixed with standard "hit machine" portions! Ugh!

I love Lizzo. I saw her perform last year and she was flippin' amazing. I think your complaint is true about radio in general, which is why I don't listen to it. Pop music stations have such a small rotation of songs that everything is overplayed. ETA: I'm not sure where the "she can't sing" thing is coming from. I can get not liking her music, but she certainly can sing and is a magnetic performer. Pop music stations have such a small rotation of songs that everything is overplayed. The Sirius XM Hits1 station plays more Chainsmokers than anything else. It's constant. I had to google. I've never heard that song, but I can understand why it would get on your last nerve.
For me, it's most anything from Panic! at the Disco. But particularly High Hopes. It was played to death last year, and still lingers on....and on....

Gotta say - Lizzo was the breakout performer this year at MoPop and she tore the freaking place apart. It was one of the more electric performances I've ever seen, and and I see A LOT of shows. So, yeah. I'm a fan 100% THAT BITCH lol
