I don't know if people would be interested or if others 3d print craft related things, but I'm happy to help and share if people want. Today's print is a bit of a failure. Printing detailed things is tough and I need figure out some setting changes, but I turned this cut file from Paige Evans into a print for my December Daily. But this used maybe a penny worth of filament so I have no problem tossing this and trying again.

Wow! That is so cool. I thought about buying a 3D printer machine to create embellishments.

That's so neat!
How do you plan to adhere it?

My university offers a free 3D printing service (for small designs only I think). You just email a design through and it goes on a queue to be checked and printed. I never thought about utilising it for something scrappy!

That's really pretty! My public library offers free 3d printing, so I've done a couple things just for fun. There are so many possibilities!

That's fabulous! I need to learn how to convert cut files to printing patterns! DH got a 3d printer last year and we have had a ball with it. We've been lucky to find the print files of the things we want to make but would love to learn more about making our own patterns.

That's so neat! How do you plan to adhere it? Liquid adhesive because this one is narrow. If it was a bit wider I'd just use my regular dry adhesive.

We've been lucky to find the print files of the things we want to make but would love to learn more about making our own patterns. There's a free program called Bender. It's not super user friendly, but there are some tutorials online on converting a svg and similar to a 3d model. Then open it in your slicing software of choice (we use Cura) and size it and set print quality.

How cool is that??? I'm very impressed! Just the thought of trying scares me. If you already have a 3d printer the costs of small prints is cheap. So failure doesn't cost much. My first attempt I had 4 failures. My husband calculated that cost about 3 cents worth of filament.

I got the highest rated one on Amazon under $200. It's a Monoprice one. I do wish I got the one with a self leveling bed, but it's not been a big deal. We love the brand Hatchbox for filament. We tried a couple, but this is the best we've found at the $20 a spool price (a spool will print a ton!)

I am going to see if I can utilize our libraries printer, do you mind sharing the link for the drawer unit you made? I am also thinking if printers are that cheap it might be a great Christmas present for my husband.

Thank you. I imagine we could both get a lot of use out of it, but if I give it as a gift I don’t have to mess with it and it can live in his office, rather then my scrapbook room! Win, win!

Wow! BSideCrafter, that is adorable! I bought my husband a 3D printer last Christmas, and he hasn't used it much. He did make me a dog bone cookie cutter so that I could make our dog homemade dog treats. I have an idea for some charms I'd like to make. I'd really enjoy seeing more of the things you make. Please share more on this topic. Thanks!

I have a dumb (probably) question. Do all things printed from a 3D printer have to be a single color?

I have a dumb (probably) question. Do all things printed from a 3D printer have to be a single color? Mostly yes. There are 3d printers that do dual extrusion and those can do two colors. My printer can only print one color at a time so a single piece has to be one color. If it's something that is pieces you can print each piece in a different color.

I've thought about the Alta from Silhouette, but my kids who have 3D printers say that isn't a great one.
I would love to make my own letters for the felt letter boards.
