We're having Australian visitors coming in to our office this week. Last time they were here, one asked about liquid creamer/milk for her coffee (no fancy flavors). We just had the powdered stuff that isn't even sold in Australia because it's so gross and bad for you, from what I hear (Nestle Coffee-mate creamer).
So- what do Australians usually like in their coffee? Whole milk? Skim? Half & half? I don't drink coffee or tea, and DH currently doesn't use creamer in his (when he did, he liked the flavored stuff). The only liquid stuff we have in the fridge is my co-worker's almond milk b/c she's allergic to dairy, but I know that's not what our visitor is wanting. I'm planning to stop at the grocery store tomorrow to pick it up.
TIA for your help!

Milk is what most people put in their coffee. ( says my husband! ) I don't drink hot drinks but have made them for others.
Milk and sugar in coffee or tea. Some people may use skim milk, but normal milk is more common I think.

Milk. Just milk. Most people here wouldn’t even know what “creamer” is. I only know because I asked here one day. I would get full cream and low fat milk in case they have a preference
You’re very thoughtful to ask. 😀

I meant to mention, we have three fridges at work, side by side in the kitchen. At least two of them are full of milk (both normal and low fat) all the time. We have an industrial coffee machine at work, and we go through a TON of milk.

not australian and not even a coffee drinker - but here we have either cream or half/half for coffee. more people seem to use either of those over milk. and that powdered or flavoured stuff seems to be unilaterally reviled.
can you send a quick note and ask via email if it's a work contact??
btw, very thoughtful of you to have cared!!

Definitely milk. Personally I prefer full cream in my coffee. Low fat just makes it taste watery. But that is my opinion. But definitely milk. I really don't like the taste of cream and half & half. When we travel to the US, we always buy milk for our coffee when checking into a hotel as we don't like the offerings.

No Aussie will know what half & half is - nothing like that is sold here(I always have to google it when it comes up in a recipe) and we don't put cream in their coffee and as Meg already said, very few will know what "creamer' is either. Maybe the person who asked for it last time wanted to try something new, or perhaps she'd had in in other places and liked it...if I was visiting, I'd want to try it especially the fancy flavors because we don't have them here. However in general most of us just have plain old whole milk in our coffee, even people who prefer skim/low fat will still be OK with this if it's just for one or two cups. If anyone has a lactose intolerance, then the almond milk will be fine, or they can drink it black.

Thanks for all your advice! The person who asked for it didn't want flavored- just normal stuff. I don't know if I can email her, as she may be travelling already, but I can see.
We only have a couple people in the office who use any type of creamer, the main user prefers Coffee-mate powdered so that's what we have. Our one dairy-free has her own almond milk (although the Coffee-mate is dairy free too).
