Sometimes, I don't let them weigh me.
I don't let my chiropractor perform this twisting maneuver that involves pushing my shoulder back and pulling my hip forward, because it feels like I'm going to fall off the table.

If I'm not feeling like it, I don't let the nurse weigh me, either!

Why wouldn’t you want your doc to weigh you? I’m usually there for a sick visit and they need my weight for med dosing. I mean if it were my eye doc, I could see how silly weighing me would be. Eta: I guess I’m in the minority baylorgrad lol

I don't do acts of defiance at the doctor's office. I'm paying the doctor to work for me-what would be the point?
Getting a correct weight is important-it's important for getting the right dosage for new medications for instance.
If there was a way to do an act of defiance towards health insurance companies I'd love to do that though-especially towards those bastard CEO's!

I don't ever fill out the forms beforehand when I visit a new doctor. There is always more than enough time to do it while I wait. Also, I don't ever fill in all the surgeries I have had. I usually just write "multiple." No one ever says a word about it.

I'm getting better about it, though -- I swear!

When it asks how often I drink, and the lowest option is “weekly,” I just put “don’t drink” because I only drink occasionally. Between the two options, it’s the more accurate answer. But I always feel like I’m lying though lol.

I don't allow them to use an autocuff to take my BP. I'm apparently "hard to hear" and those things squeeze my arm until I'm badly bruised, which hurts like hell and . . . makes my BP go WAY UP! They can either use a regular cuff and do it manually or believe me when I tell them what it usually runs.
ETA: I also told them I'm refusing "drug and alcohol counselling" which equates to "how many drinks per week" and similar questions taking all of about 2 minutes and which cost me an extra $40 once. ONCE.

Not defiance, technically, but the pediatrician form they make you fill out is a list of yes or no questions about car seats and baby gates and stuff. If you answer "correctly" all your answers are on the right side (I guess so they can easily glance at it to see if you are doing anything wrong) I feel like I cracked their secret code, mwah ha ha.

I leave things blank on the intake form if i think they are irrelevant and annoying. I figure if it really matters, they will ask.

I refuse to let them do the blood stick test to check for bacterial vs viral infections any longer.
My primary care provider started doing a quick in-office finger stick blood test as part of checking vitals and evaluating your symptoms. It's like a glucose test that checks for neutrophils in the blood. And they use that to determine whether they will prescribe an antibiotic or not. Negative test, no antibiotic prescription. Positive test, a prescription is written.
Well, the test is useless for me because the inflammation caused by my autoimmune disease causes chronic slightly elevated neutrophil levels. So I always test positive no matter what. And they would always give me an antibiotic prescription because the test showed presence of neutrophils. Doesn't matter that I try to explain, no that's just my normal. They don't make exceptions. Positive test, they write a prescription. And they do electronic prescriptions. So when I don't pick it up, they get notified and they mark noncompliant in my chart.
The point of the test is to cut down on unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions and battle antibiotic resistance. But they don't or won't take special circumstances into account so it completely backfires with patients like me. I'm sure the test costs a fair amount too, no point in billing my insurance for a worthless test.

I won't give them my social security number. They don't need it. I pay my bills.

Dang some of you are hard asses.. hahaha
I don't do anything except when it comes to billing. I get weighed, pricked, basically whatever they want.. never thought to tell them no. I guess my act would be I totally forget to take medication. I have 2 right now, that I need to start taking again.. I HATE taking medicine/vitamins/whatever..
Edited to add, today took daughter (who is 11) in for 2 different shots.. they wanted to throw 2 more in... none of them were 1 in the same, so it would have been 4 different shots.. I said, no that is way too much.. so we did the 2 and can wait on the other two.

When they tell me to get completely undressed, I always leave my socks on unless I’m at the podiatrist. In which case that’s the only thing they want me to take off is shoes and socks. Sorry, but those rooms are freaking COLD and there’s absolutely no reason why I should need to take my socks off.

Anytime my blood is drawn they ask me to look away. No, I will be watching, and I explain every single time it does not bother me to watch a blood draw. The last time she told me to look away, I told her I will if she will! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

At any gyn Ive been to, they want you to leave your socks on anyway.

I refuse to have a pelvic exam unless there have been problems that indicate it. I only go to gyn so I can get my premarin refilled. When filling out their forms I answer N/A for many of their questions. When asked about surgery I write will discuss if needed. There are way too many to write down.

Now I’m proud to be able to watch when They insert the needle. It feels like an achievement. I don’t think they’ve ever asked me not to look

OK, I sound sort of like a butt head, but if they put me in the exam room room and forget about me after a while I will open the exam room door so that they see me every time they walk up and down the hall. They don’t like me to have the door open, probably because of hipaa, but it’s a little petty thing I do for putting me in there and making me wait. (Of course this is before I have changed into their gown or drape)

I’m mostly a rule follower, the only thing I can think of is I don’t give out my SSN or take my socks off.
ETA I’m not always asked, but I don’t answer demographic info-race, marital status, income etc.

I'm such a rule follower, it never even crossed my mind that I could not get weighed. I thought the same thing. But as I read on I remembered that I did consistently refuse amniocentesis. I had four viable pregnancies and refused the amnio with each one.

Do we really need to discuss cholesterol today? I am sick of it. Can’t we discuss new drugs coming to market, why I can’t sleep through the night, stress incontinence? Or something like if I join a gym how many times a week do I REALISTICALLY have to go rather than your wishful thinking would have me there. 3x? Doable. Ok.
