I did a search but I couldn't really find much.
I'm overwhelmed. I have about 20ish pads. I wrote the "title" on the spines, and am keeping them together... I think...
I have about 4 inches of other patterned and printed papers. I have some that I got specifically for this or that child and those stay in a 12x12 project box(with their name on it) with other things that are specifically for that child.
But there are other papers that I just got because they are cute, or pretty, or or or or or... lol
I need a way to organize it/store it so that I'll USE it... but I don't want to have to dig through every time I want a sheet.
HOW do you all organize AND store your papers?? I use 12x12

I organize my paper by brand, and then by collection. I don't have a huge pile of papers though...I mainly use FJ and Crate Paper. So each collection is stored in a plastic envelope, and all the scraps that match are also there.

I scrap 8.5x11 but my storage works for 12x12 - I have 3 recollections cubes (with the 4 slots each) and my paper and cardstock is stored by colour in them. Christmas/Travel/Girl Scouts/Navy/Military are separate in drawers with embellishments. I do have my EP kits stored separately for now (in plastic envelopes). I break apart paper pads and sort by colour because that's how I scrap.

I organize my paper by manufacturer. I also organize by specialty paper. So that vellum, goes with all the other vellum.
I do this because we I am scrapbooking, I think in “I need some Shimelle or I need something Echo-Parkish. It makes sense to me because that’s how I think of my paper.
Figure out how you think of your papers. Do you think in themes? Flowers, stripes, dots. Or colors? Red, orange, blue. Whichever way you think, organize your paper in that way.
I used to organize by color because that is how I worked. I need green paper, so I’d dig through a green section. But once I got a feeling for the manufacturers I liked and how their papers feel to me, I changed it up.

I keep mine by collections in 12.5 x 12.5 baggies. I lay the baggie on its side and have a 1 x 13.5" piece of tagboard that is slipped into the bag with the name of the collection labeled on the end of the tagboard.

I use Cropper Hopper's Paper storage organizers. It looks like they have been sold off and are now called Advantus Paper Storage. I agree with the others that you need to find a system that works for you. Do you think in color? Companies? Theme? That's how you should store your papers. I have a lot of paper and I organize it in multiple categories. For example, I have green solids, green prints (stripes/circles), green florals, green dots, etc. Then I also organize obviously themed paper by it's theme. For example, Christmas. If I were doing a birthday page, I wouldn't look in the Christmas themed organizer, so I've eliminated that group of papers. If you only have a small collection of paper and have the shelf space to organize them, you could make dividers out of tag board or something similar. An organizer like Mikklyn's first photo would work as well. Or, if you don't mind spending the money, these dividers would work. And they would also work in your Iris bins since they are sturdy enough not to rip as you are lifting one group up to look under it at the next group.

If you do find you need inexpensive dividers that won't rip, go to the Dollar Store and buy the flimsy, plastic cutting boards. They are about 14 inches long and you can easily cut the plastic with your trimmer. You get two to a pack and can write on the end or label them. I use these all of the time for different dividers in my scrap room.

Im currently on a freeze and just trying to get it down. Then I just want to buy kits like this and store it all together.

I store vertical by themes (Christmas, Easter, etc.) then by colors.. so my red cardstock is in front of all my red pattern paper or what I consider is red.. sometimes it is hard to tell.. I only have a few lines that I store by manufacturer, like October Afternoon. I did buy some record album sheets (clear plastic and a little over 12x12 slips) to even more organize within my themes (just haven't done it yet).. I can't remember if I got that idea from here or FB.

Echoing the posters above, you need to store how you work.
Personally I separate my paper-weight stock and cardstock, since I use them for different kinds of projects. After that it's one container for solids and several others with prints. Within patterned stock, by collection, theme or colour. But the only 'proper' way to organize is whatever way works for you.

I work by color if I don't have a specific theme. I recently broke apart several of my shrinking collection kits and combined them with my Studio Calico paper. Everything is arranged by color with multicolor patterns arranged by pattern type (stripes, dots, a few themes such as weather, travel, food, etc.) As I use up other collection kits I'll put the papers in that stash.
My papers are stored vertically in a box/bag/crate thing I found at my grocery store. It sits right next to me at home, but also easily travels (just need to cover with a plastic bag if there's any chance of wet weather.) The rest of my papers are divided among 12x12 bags by themes and stored in a plastic file folder container (either Cropper Hopper or Iris...can't remember and can't see right now).

I organize first in collections or kit clubs or homemade kits with just paper. These get stored in large bags and the bags in iris boxes. My extra paper gets separate by type (wood print, specialty, text, etc), theme (feminine, masculine, summery, fall), and color (those tone on tone papers).

Most of mine are sorted by theme because that's how I scrap. When I get to papers that don't fit anything, I have a misc. category and sort by color. Stripes, polka dots, and floral are at the back if they don't have a dominant color.

Maybe not what you had in mind, but my two major categories of loose paper are one sheet or two.
Then I sort by weight, sturdy or flimsy. I don't like to build my layouts on flimsy paper.

I do a couple things with my paper pads-
1) I take apart and re-organize the paper pads in (mostly) rainbow order, putting the same sheets together-- I can NOT STAND when a paper pad has doubles but they're not next to each other. I want to know if I have one sheet of a particular pattern, or two. (any cut-apart sheets I put right in the front)
2) I keep the cover and make a tab for it with the name of the paper pad on.
3) I store my paper upright on a shelf, by theme-- I make an executive decision about which section I think the paper pads go into. Then the collection pads go at the back of whichever section they fit into. (and the tab lets me see easier where the paper pads are on the shelf.)
eta: my 'themes' are each marked with a tab at the top of a divider sheet (my divider sheets are ugly paper I know I wouldn't ever use). I have something like 15 categories, and they work for the way I scrap: a few examples are bright/cheery, distressed, vintage, southwest, tropical/travel, pet, multicolored stripe, tone-on-tone print, etc.

I have 4 of those Iris containers for 12x12 paper. I sort by dd, ds, fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving and winter/Christmas.
I will often mix paper lines so this works best for me.
Makes it easier to start a layout too...want to do a school layout for dd? Grab her Iris box, find some paper, grab the embellishments that I keep in the Iris photo storage boxes and get to work.

Most of mine is stored vertically in Cropper Hopper files sorted in rainbow order by dominant color. I have some sections for themes (Christmas, Halloween, Woodgrain, Rainbow, Cameras, Travel and specialty). But, I also make page kits with photos, cardstock and paper that I want to use with those photos and I keep them in a vertical 12 by 12 cropper hopper case.

I have way more printed papers than I'll ever need. I used to scrapbook so bought lots of paper packs. I tend to fall for certain brands & buy. I went from Graphic 45, to Paperwishes, & now have fallen for Stamperia. I usually store mine by style (rustic, holidays, stripes, floral)m as well as by brand. They are stored in the 12" plastic containers & stored on a bookshelf. I need to go through them all & get rid of about 3/4 of it but I really love my paper.
