It's time to post my last Tuesday CARDtober challenge. This time I want you to think inside the box, by making a 3D box card, a.k.a.card in a box. You can make a Z fold card, or some other variation on a box card. If it folds flat, but opens up into a 3D box, it counts. You get a bonus point if you add shimmer with Wink of Stella, Glimmer Mist, or something similar. You get an additional point if you use stamps. I used Wink of Stella, and a very old stamp set by Stampin' Up. I created my own stable box card to coordinate with the Nativity stamps, but I don’t expect anyone else to go to that extreme.

wow that is gorgeous - but I'm starting to think you don't want me to earn the complete all the challenges bonus this month , lol. Because a box card looks WAY beyond my abilities. I'll do some googling and see if I can figure out a simple one though

I'll do some googling and see if I can figure out a simple one though I apologize! I meant to post some links to help. We are helping our youngest DS & DDIL with a big move this week, so I’m just a bit overwhelmed. A box card is really not as bad as it seems. Here are those links I should have posted in the original post: Instructions for how to create a box card with a scoring board and 12 inch trimmer can be found on SplitcoastStampers using this link: How to create a box card with a 12 inch trimmerHowever, the best tutorial for assembling your box card is by Nicole Spohr, which can be found here: The best tutorial for assembling a box cardThe instructions for the actual box card assembly start at about 2:40. I hope that helps.

Thank you scrapnnana - I really wasn't meaning to complain - it's a great challenge and a very challenging one at that! I appreciate the links Good luck to your DS and DDIL with their move - I hope they'll be all settled in soon.

Thank you, Linda and azcrafty.
I had fun making this one, but then, I love making box cards. Linda, I did not take it as a complaint. This is the second challenge I have posted that is definitely more difficult.
I am not really trying to make it hard to get the 50 point completion bonus. I’m trying to reach it, too, and the more of us that do, the better. I will post something this evening that I hope will help.

Linda , before I had a Silhouette I saw the first link scrapnnana posted and used that to make all kinds of box cards. I taught my 9 year old granddaughter to make them and she did a 4-H Demonstration for County Fair on how to make them. She was a trophy winner with her Demo. After making one I think you will see that it's really quite easy and it makes you want to make more. It's so fun to see it fold into the envelope and you know it will pop up for the recipient. scrapnnana , thanks for a great challenge. Your Christmas card is especially sweet. I hope to have time today to work on this.

This is a little different from the kind of box cards I usually make, but I owned the cut file and thought I'd try it. The box has only one item inside instead of a group of items. I think this would be cute with another tier for a wedding card and maybe some hearts or doves. Cake Box Card

nylene - I love the birthday cake - so fun! azcrafty - awesome teepee card - I've never seen anything like that This challenge was completely out of my skillset - I'm a very simple card maker and don't even own a score board or bone folder. I used a tutorial scrappy-hour.com/2019/04/23/double-z-fold-cards-tutorial/ and hopefully this'll meet the challenge

azcrafty, I love your card shape. I think it should count as a box card. It is totally new to me and I think it is really fun. I love the decorations on each side. Linda, that card is gorgeous! I used to search the internet for tutorials and learned so many fun folds and kinds of cards. I have just become lazy and if there's a cut file I use it. I am so impressed with all you have accomplished this month. I have kept up with the cards but you have also done lots of pages. You are an amazing scrapper! Will you take scrap supplies when you go visit your mom? (oops, probably should ask that in Pokey Peas.)

nylene - thank you so much No, not taking scrap supplies on the trip - during the day I need to help with the deep cleaning the house needs and my sister has been trying to do a little each week and once mum goes to bed, I'm hoping to scan a few of my childhood photos

I am holed up at a hotel for the night after a 25 hour drive, so I am finally able to see your cards.
nylene, I absolutely love your cake box card and think it would be amazing in a wedding cake version, too.
azcrafty, I love your Christmas teepee card. It is gorgeous and definitely has dimension! While I don’t think it fulfills this particular challenge, you can certainly use it for the Alternative Challenge in place of this one, since we are at the end of the month. If you haven’t made a box card before, I hope you will make one at some point. I think they are so much fun.
Linda, the Z fold is definitely a variation on a box card.
