Create a cutie or a critter using some kind of paper piecing - multi-piece punches, die cuts, and electronic cuts are fine, but take a bonus point if you want to join me in cutting something freehand with scissors. I’m being inspired by Lisa Fonseca’s YouTube videos like this one: I made these two cuties by sketching a character from a google image search (I usually search for a drawing, eg. yeti drawing, to find simple images, or copy something from a stamp or patterned paper you like) then cutting it from patterned paper or cardstock with scissors, and adding little details using scraps of patterned paper/cardstock. If a piece goes wrong, just try again. Cut a little more, or grab another scrap. If you start too small it will be very fiddly. Perfectionism is overrated! Don't forget to add a cute face. Try drawing the eyes wide apart and very low on the face and a little smile in between. Pink circle cheeks help with the cute factor too. Next time I'll try giving yeti an underbite and a cute little nose and skip the horns. But he turned out so much better than I expected! He looks harder than he was, I promise. I added a Doodlebug heart and sentiment. Those are so cute, joblackford! I wanted to do my paper piecing by hand, but that isn’t an option right now. I somehow thought it was supposed to be another pun, too. You’ll just have to imagine a really cute face under those bandages. Anyway, here is mine:

This is a card that I made earlier this month for our granddaughter’s birthday, so I’m not sure if it counts, but it seems to fit here. The fairy is paper pieced, although everything was cut with a die set. I had to cut from multiple colors and cut them apart to make the fairy and flowers paper pieced. I wouldn’t normally go to this much work, but I wanted to do a little more special and elaborate card for her.

Wow, those are both great cards scrapnnana and yes, I think they both count. The mummy is totally cute! And everyday is a good day for a pun. Make sure you claim the points from my other challenge too. The fairy card looks like a LOT of work, but wow, what a result! Thanks for playing along.

joblackford - your yeti is adorable and that gnome is the best! scrapnnana - the mummy pun is awesome! and that faery card is beautiful! I cut the shapes for my snowman on the Cricut (but not from a cut file- re-sized circles and rectangles) and hand-cut the carrot

scrapnnana , your cards are always so great. I love your mummy and the use of the pun, and that birthday card for your granddaughter is precious. I know she will be glad you made something so elegant for her. joblackford , your cards are AMAZING. It's obvious that you are not just crafty, but extremely artistic too. Totally delightful critter and cuties and perfect backgrounds and sentiments. Linda , I love your snowman. I actually started by trying to make a snowman, but mine looked more like a half melted blob of snow. I love your carrot nose and cute top hat. It made me remember how mad mom would get when we sneaked into the house to use a carrot for our snowmen's noses. She was against wasting ANY food. LOL Thanks for the memory. This was WAY out of my comfort zone. I determined to use nothing but scraps that were within arm's reach. My saving grace was that monsters are supposed to look weird, right? LOL Monsters
