I went to the grocery store yesterday to get some last minute Halloween candy and the Christmas stuff was all out already!

After the Trick or Treaters last night we put out my Thanksgiving decorations. But I will be honest I love Christmas and I am ready to decorate for Christmas.

I hate that it's so hard to find things for Thanksgiving once Halloween is over. It's like - IT'S STILL NOVEMBER. There's a huge family/fall holiday at the end of November! Don't put away the fall stuff yet!!!

My oldest DD and family are coming for Thanksgiving this year and not Christmas, so we're having Thanksmas. That means that I have to get the tree up and start wrapping pronto. All I want is for summer and hot temps to be back...

I am reminded of the Teen Titans Go episode where Santa tries to kidnap all the holiday "icons" like the easter bunny and halloween pumpkin so it can be Christmas all year long. I'm with you Bah Humbug.

In Canada we observe Remembrance Day on November 11 and I believe the US observes Veterans Day then.
Here some people are of the opinion that no Christmas decorations should be displayed on homes until after the Remembrance Day services. Others are of the opinion that wars were fought to give us freedom in our country and that includes the freedom to have Christmas decorations up at the same time that we honor those who fought/fight for those freedoms.
I’m never really organized enough to decorate prior to Nov 11 lol (and personally, I prefer a shorter decoration period because it makes it “more special” as opposed to getting used to the lights and stuff being out for so long) but living in a cold/snowy environment I have no problem with people putting up decorations prior to Nov 11 in better weather conditions/ longer daylight, etc. (but again, I prefer not to turn mine on til Dec 1)
Discussions/opinions/arguments get quite heated here in Canada. Wondering if this is a thing in the US?

We've had turkey day here in Canada, so the fat boy can just roll on in here any time he wants!! This made me laugh!

Wondering if this is a thing in the US? I'd never heard this before and my opinion is that people sure get worked up about things that don't matter. If you care about Remembrance/Veteran's Day, does that get cancelled out if you have your Christmas decorations up? We live in Minnesota, and I encourage DH to do the outside decor anytime he wants once Halloween is over. Nice days are few and far between for us in November, and I'd rather offend someone by having it up "too early" than have him get frostbite trying to jam tie down stakes into the frozen ground. That being said, we don't actually start turning on the holiday lights until after Thanksgiving.

i was at rona two weeks ago (canadian equivalent to home depot). all the halloween stuff was on half price in the corner and all the wreathes, fake christmas trees and decorations had taken over already. yesterday, our loblaws (grocery store) had big cardboard bins of pumpkins outside. today at 4pm, all cleared out and outdoor holiday wreathes had taken over. makes me sad for all those pumpkins that didn't get to fulfill their halloween destiny.... lol. some can't *wait* to get started on the christmas season. stores need to have it or people with go elsewhere so i don't begrudge them. but i am 100% holding off until at least mid-november to even acknowledge christmas is coming.

I do a little Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving, but I won't put out decorations, listen to music, or do much before Turkey Day. It's just too much. I like a little bit of Christmas and can't stand it being shoved in my face months before December 25th.

I heard a Christmas song on the radio today (Mariah Carey-all I want for Christmas is you) so I think the turkey is definitely losing that battle lol. I am firmly in the “it’s too early” camp, but I may or may not have called my mom from the car just so she could listen, too.
