I was trying to get caught up on 2019 PL today and started thinking “oh crap it is almost 2020! What is my plan for that?!” Anyone else making plans yet?
I switched to 6x8 monthly this year after several years of weekly 12x12. I felt like I needed a break from the size, the commitment, etc. I have struggled to keep up with my “PL light” this year. So now I am trying to decide what makes sense for next year.
I don’t think digital (or the PL app) would be fun for me and I would miss including things like school pictures, cards my kids make, etc. I am thinking about aiming for one 12x12 spread per month, with an insert if absolutely necessary, with a goal to keep it one album. I think this is what Ali did this year 🤔. I didn’t pay a lot of attention to be honest. I have been very apathetic and unmotivated about the whole project this year. Also thinking about pulling the plug on my monthly kit. I tell myself getting the kit keeps me interested and motivated, but I clearly disproved that theory this year. I have only picked at my stories by the month kits and think I would have plenty of supplies there to use as a starting point for monthly spreads if I went that route.
So what is everyone else thinking about 2 months out? Anyone else making a change this year or shaking things up?

I am just plugging away on keeping up-to-date with my 2019 albums and going back and getting 2002 finished.

I have a paper holder of 2019 and one of 2002 sitting on my floor staring at me.

No big changes for me. I'll just continue with my mostly chronological 12x12 traditional scrapping with an occasional 8x8.

I've been thinking about this and wasn't sure how I would/or even if I would change things. Right now, I am all caught up to Oct for this year. I do monthly 12x12 with one album per year. With both boys moved off I wasn't sure I would keep doing 12x12 next year. Would DH and I have enough to fill a whole album? Turns out, I think we do. I like the flexibility of being able to keep all of our travel photos in that one album and I love being able to include things our kids are doing (I steal photos from their snapchats and they send me monthly selfies).
So now that Ive decided to keep on what I have already been doing, I am somewhat concerned about finding 12x12 Type A protectors. I need to look online for some. With Becky Higgins doing who-knows-what with the PL, I feel like I need to stock up now.

I like starting the year with everything I think I will need, so I don’t get stuck trying to find an additional album or more page protectors. I just finished glancing through Ali’s 2019 post and love what she did, even with 9x12. I need to go down and dig out my 9x12 stash. I ordered one to do DD3’s (yet to be made 🙈) baby album and SC sent the wrong color so I ended up with an extra. But I would want to know I had enough pp’s before I went down that road since you can’t count on inked to be a consistent supplier.

Nope. I am doing layouts for 2006 to now. I just pick a layout based on my mood.

I had just scrapped it and neither one of them knew I had the pictures. They had posed like a picture out of Stepbrothers and yes, I loved the pic and scrapped it.

DS1 is home this weekend and he was looking back at my album while I worked on my Oct pages. He was surprised at the things I included. He was joking that you can tell when he was in a relationship because he's always clean shaven. The other times he was shaggy, lol. I loved that he could flip through and see the progression (or in some cases, regression) of his facial hair through out the year. Its the small things...

I've been thinking about it. I've done a weekly version of PL once every four years (I guess it takes that long to get over the burnout?) and next year will be the fourth year so I'm thinking about doing it again. This time I think I'll do a 12x12 page with a facing pocket page for each week which will help me continue to use my paper stash.

I am! I took a full on break from PL this year and by August I was missing it (I did 12x12 weekly) thought about just starting 2019 then and there but ran into the snag of not be able to find albums. Correction, I found albums but they would have cost me a fortune in shipping. But I've been stalking zulily and they finally had some so I ordered a bunch, plus page protectors. Pretty sure I'm going to do weekly again. We do have lots going on with my dd graduating and going off to post secondary so I think it will be a full year. And really it felt like something was missing this year.

I don't do PL. I play around w/ the app some, but I do not do a weekly or monthly page.
I have my OLW chosen, and will continue with that project this year.
I will continue my 8.5x11 pages this year and am hoping to complete some "unfinished projects" and online classes I have paid for.

No big changes for me. I'll just continue with my mostly chronological 12x12 traditional scrapping with an occasional 8x8. The same for me. Need to pick up my albums soon. I usually use 4 large Pioneer albums, one for each season, and sometimes some extra books for vacations or Christmas or family events.

I did well with a 9x12 pocket page album for 2016 which I completed. Then 12x12 pocket pages using style A pps, with monthly spreads for 2017 and 2018, also completed. Didn't do any mini album projects, just included December and travel stuff in my main album. Managed to limit myself to one 12x12 BH PL album per year.
This year I got off to decent start using the same format and completed through mid-Feb. Then I got busy with a remodel of my master bedroom, bath and kitchen, and my scrapping area was hemmed in by all of the furniture stashed in our big back room from the remodel, and I lost access to my stuff and when the remodel was finally done, I also lost the desire to try and catch up on 6+ months' worth of scrapping.
I am tentatively beginning a 30 Days of Thankful 6x8, using a Simple Stories album and a few pre-made pages that I started from 2016 and dropped after about the first week, along with the supplies I have from that attempt. If I continue with it, and feel like my creative spark is reignited, I may try a DD. I've already got lots of DD supplies on hand, and should be able to make a DD decision by mid-month in order to pick up a few more things. I almost ordered the Simple Stories Country Christmas bundle from scrapbooks.com the other day, but listened to the voice of reason and decided to wait to see if I REALLY want to scrap and not just buy stuff.
So....if I do both the 30 Days and DD albums, I may resume using a 12x12 style A BH album for 2020. I stocked up on PL albums and a ton of cheap PL kits from Tuesday Morning last year, and also have a few year's worth of style A pps, though I may order another box if I can find them cheap enough on Amazon . While I prefer squared corners, the rounded PL corners don't bug me too much. I embellish the BH cards a bit and I figure a mix of corner types is better than not doing an album.
We shall see what January brings!

I think I'm going to keep with the 6x12 size. It has worked well this year. I'm ending my Ali's SBTM sub. I just don't love the 2019 digital designs. I'll keep using my Elle's kits and will look to supplement with a few Feed Your Craft kits and my story kits.

Well, I have thought about 2020 a lot
I have kept up my daily memory planner steadily thru out 2019. I’m up to date to Friday when I left home for my great nieces birthday & I’ll have this weekend done before I go back to work Wednesday. I’m considering a Monthly 12x12 PL to go along with it but not any steady formula for pages. Just open. I have acquired quite a mix of 12x12 ( & 6x12, & 9x12) page protectors & a few albums. I would also like to make a book for my pup. I’ll see.
So yeah I’m jumping into PL in a monthly rather than weekly format and I’ll use the number, style & size pages that fit my mood & photos for the month. But at least 1 double page spread per month, some months having more.
There I’ve said it, maybe I’ll be accountable if I say it out loud? But I made a commitment to myself to do the memory planner and I did. So I’m hoping I can add in the PL and still keep on point.
Maybe someday I’ll go back & do previous years, I’m not going to make any commitment there that’s too over whelming.

I’ve been dealing with both anxiety and depression this year. I haven’t touched my 2019 PL since February.
I finally decided to get some help and my doctor has me on Lexapro. It’s only been two weeks but I’m feeling better. More “me” than I’ve felt in a long time.
I got back in my craft room for the first time since February and I’m feeling very good about it. I’m looking forward to 2020..it’s going to be a good year and I’m excited to document it.

I have done some form of 12x12 project life consistently since 2013 and really found what worked for me in 2016 and have stuck with that ever since. It's still working so I'm planning on continuing it into 2020.
I complete two 12x12 albums per year with "weekly" spreads (I put weekly in quotes because I'm somewhat flexible with my dates... while I typically run a spread Monday to Sunday, I will sometimes adjust so that a weekend getaway has it's own spread, or two particularly uneventful weeks get merged together). Because I am not so strict on the dates in my week, I don't number my title cards, just add the date range. I also sandwich inserts and traditional layouts between spreads, these are either 9x12 or smaller.
I have always been really good about keeping up with project life, except lately I have gotten so far behind... I am currently working on July! I've never been more than a month behind before and it's killing me, but we moved and have a lot going on so I am just now starting to have time to scrapbook again. I'm finding it is really frustrating to be behind, but it makes me want to sit down and just crank out 8 spreads in one day rather than quit. If I don't catch up by the end of the year I will likely just start 2020 and then go back to fill in 2019 as I have time. I'm actually considering doing that now... I mean, start from last week and work backwards, it just doesn't work well with my supply organization so we'll see. I find that I am more inspired to document the stories/photos that just happened rather than the ones that are farther back in time. I regularly update my app Day One to keep track of what happened so I'm not worried about losing the stories if I wait too long to go back and fill in the holes.
Even though my format is staying the same, I am planning on mixing up my supplies. I have subscribed to the SC project life kits since 2014 and the AE story kits & SBTM kits since they began. Although I use product pretty regularly, with my subs and then picking up random kits as I see ones that I like (FYC, FJ, KP) there is just no way I can use it all... even with weekly spreads, my daughter's album and my other projects. On top of that, the SC kits just don't excite me anymore, I often forget it's reveal day and then by the time the kit shows up I completely forgot I was waiting for it. I also have found that I am really buying more supplies than I use. So I am planning on canceling my SC sub starting with January and I will just keep my Ali subs. That will give me more flexibility to pick up other supplies when I love the releases guilt free and hopefully will give me a chance to dig into my stash a bit.
I am a little concerned about availability of basic supplies, but I have already purchased Design A page protectors and my two albums for the year (I use BH's white pleather albums with the gold trim) so I will likely have to adjust in 2021, at least to different albums. I had the vanilla pleather albums from WRMK for 2015 & 2016 so they don't all match anyways, as much as I would love for them to. I think WRMK makes a white album, it just doesn't have the gold trim, so I will likely switch to that in the future. With the huge demand for Design A page protectors, I assume that another manufacturer will make them more readily available if BH stops manufacturing.
AmandaA thanks for this thread, I like to have my plan all squared away before December so I can focus my scrappy time that month on December Daily and finishing up 2019 projects.

I'm only looking forward to 2020 to start a new year and decide how I want to work my 2020. I've switched it up with different styles since I started in 2012. My first albums were purely chronological. No starting a new anything on a fresh page. If May first happened in the middle of a 2 page layout, that's where it went. Then I did monthly for a while, which with my lifestyle (me, DH, adult DS, dog, cat) fits better. I didn't limit myself to the number of pages/layouts, just did as many as were needed for that month. This year (and a few others) I've tried the weekly setup, but that really doesn't work for me. I also end up combining weeks because I don't have enough for a layout. I have not taken very many pictures this year, and even with a new kitchen, this hasn't been my best year ever! I suffered some minor depression, we haven't been working out like usual and I'm seeing the consequences of that now. I'm ready for a reset! My only tried and true rule is one album per year, and sometimes that seems like a stretch with my minimal photos.

I am just plugging away on keeping up-to-date with my 2019 albums and going back and getting 2002 finished.Ugh. This is whats on my schedule for this week (again). I have several albums that have no journaling so I have been slowly completing them all. I *Think* I am down to my last album with no journaling (thank God). I will never, ever get the photos in and decorated and skip the journaling for later. My lesson has been learned.

I have been doing 6x8 for four years, 2020 being my fifth year. I actually feel like I have finally found my groove in the last few months so will be continuing with 6x8. I’m enjoying bringing my stories to life outside of the pockets and finding new ways to include photos.
I have bought all my albums for next year as it’s getting harder and harder to find and locate albums in the U.K.

AmandaA thanks for this thread, I like to have my plan all squared away before December so I can focus my scrappy time that month on December Daily and finishing up 2019 projects. I still have catch up to do from the last 6 weeks of last year. I am up to September of this year after really slacking off this summer while we were traveling a lot. I am hoping to get September and October knocked out this week so I can hopefully stay on track when things really get busy around the holidays. I am not putting any pressure on myself about the 2018 stuff right now (or my album from a Story Camp in 2017 or my four year old’s baby book 🙈). Hopefully changing it up for next year with give me the time to focus on those old projects. I am 99% sure that I am going to let everything go except my Ali sub and try to focus on that. I have had an SC kit since day 1 with them but I feel like all of the “stuff” is actually hindering my ability to feel like I am accomplishing anything right now. The piled up kits feel just as bad as the piled up photos and that isn’t helpful. Because let’s be honest, I could go years without buying anything and be fine.

I do traditional, digital & pocket page layouts. My kids (14 & 17) are kind of done with my photo taking. Those teenage years. DS17 has been there for a while. I'm considering switching to TN memory keeping instead of albums. Still just considering though.

LisaDV I'm curious about your reasons for memory keeping. No judgement, just curious. I didn't really get into scrapbooking until 2012 (there was a short aborted attempt back in 1998-98 with CM). Are you only scrapbooking your kids? When I started in 2012 DS was an adult and living halfway across the world. I do a 12x12 album every year of just me and what I'm doing and what's going on in my life. Obviously there are lots of pictures of DH and my pets, vacations, current events, etc. I guess, I wonder how many of us only do this because we have kids to scrap, and how many of us do this for us? I couldn't stop now. I really love looking back at old albums to see what I was doing two years ago, five years ago. Also, more than once DH has asked me to look at my albums to find out when we did or bought something. Inquiring minds want to know! 😁

I’m thinking about getting some 8.5”x11” page protectors and trying that for 2020. I have never scrapped that size. I think it would be a nice change. This summer and fall I did travelers notebooks. I really like having a more informal little album so I will probably continue that for each of the 4 seasons. I did project life last year and only did 6 months. It’s not really for me. I would also like to do more projects like week in the life and day in the life and smaller travel albums. Probably in 6”x8”. I think if I do several small projects and the TNs I cover the majority of what our life looks like. I’m cool with that. I will never be able to scrap it all and don’t want to do this is a good compromise.
