I put “live action” in quotation marks because it’s half live action half old cartoon movie. Not sure how I feel about it. Weird going back and forth between the two forms. So far the live acts haven’t been anything to write home about.

I’m watching because I love the music. While I think it’s clever how they are doing the “back and forth”, I agree with the OP—I’m on the bench.

It hasn't started here yet.. but John Stamos is in it.. how can it be all that bad? The Little Mermaid is my favorite.. so yeah I will be watching soon.

Yea, I am definitely torn. It's just too much going back and forth. It makes it sort of disjointed. Like I want more live action, less cartoon.

It’s definitely been meh for me. I haven’t thought any of the performances were great. I love the Little Mermaid and I’m still watching but it’s just so so for me.

Too many commercials so I quit watching.

Ok. that was disappointing. Why even bother with like 1 live performance every 30 mins? Those poor actors did all that work for those short bits? It was mainly just the cartoon movie.

I was so disappointed. I love the little mermaid, but this was very underwhelming.

John Stamos stole the show! but the rest of them were just meh. Queen Latifah started out great & then it got a bit chaotic. Shaggy's 2nd song was better than the first, again too chaotic
it was just ok for me. So far I haven't thought any of the live action movies were awesome

What's with the new song that Prince Eric sang?
I didn't like the way they cut some of the important scenes. So far, though, I think it's pretty good.
I think we (general we) get so used to seeing perfected, reshot, polished tv shows that we forget what live theater is like. Those performers have more talent that I could ever dream of having in 100 lifetimes.

It was worse than the high school productions I've watched. We didn't make it to John Stamos.

John Stamos was probably the best of the live performances. It's getting bad reviews over all. I have liked a few of the live action shows. I really liked the All in the family/Jefferson's one. Though that wasn't a movie Grease was pretty good.

I watched the first hour. It reminded me of what you would see at a Disney Park. It was okay, but didn't really translate that well on tv. I was wondering why this was playing on a Tuesday night, because these musicals are usually Sunday night fare. I'm thinking they knew it wasn't that great.

I bailed after the first 45 minutes. Way, way too much of the animation. It was animated story interspersed with live action songs. It was pretty to look at but not what I was hoping it would be. Count me as really disappointed.

It was alright.. but on the radio they were saying it is being torn to pieces.. so guess the reviews are horrible.
John was awesome... Queen Latifa was good but a little too much... but I love her..
the two new songs.. did not like at all. The one by Ariel and the one by Eric. But I thought they did pretty good as the characters.. they needed more air time in talking not singing.
I made it through, but I was distracted by my game on my phone ..haha.

I was surprised by the guy who played Prince Eric. I loved his broadway style voice. And I enjoyed John Stamos. The back and forth with the cartoon was okay in the beginning, but at the end, it felt like ALL cartoon. It was okay, but mostly because I love The Little Mermaid movie.

DD31 and I watched it last night. She was a HUGE fan as a toddler, so I've seen/heard the original about 1 million times!!!
It was pretty decent in some spots. I liked Shaggy, but his outfit left a lot to be desired. Sorry, but I got very distracted by his huge package in those pants!!!
John Stamos was decent, but he was out of breath, severely!!! And the end of the number sounded more like, "Be Our Guest". Didn't like that.........
Queen Latifah looked awesome, but her wig was more akin to Ru Paul.
Prince Eric was okay, but he was far too feminine.......
Ariel was played by the voice actress who did "Moana". She's got a beautiful voice, but can't hold a candle to the original. Mandy Moore would have been a much better choice!

Not a fan. I appreciate the hard work behind it, but other than Queen Latifah, the rest fell a bit flat. I’m sorry. I just couldn’t get past listening to Moana be Ariel. My kids have watched both movies a gazillion times and it was weird for me to listen to Moana in a different Disney movie.

Poor Ariel just could not stay on pitch. I felt like she was the weakest performer.
The audience cheering during the songs was really distracting.
Queen Latifah was good. I also liked the Prince. You could tell he had a Broadway background.
Shaggy's outfit was pretty bad. But I thought he was a good Sebastian.
@bergdorfblonde Stamos DID start to sound like Be Our Guest!
It was being torn apart on social media last night while we were watching. Dd kept showing me funny memes and posts. You'd think with the $$$ that Disney/ABC has they could have put on a much better show.

I DVRed and now don't think I'll watch it. We saw a Disney Production at our local theater a few summers ago that was fabulous. I will just delete. PBS is showing some Broadway shows starting Friday night. I am excited to see al of these!. www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/broadways-best-about/9981/

I didn’t love It. Not enough “live”. I loved Ursula. Best part about the whole show.

11 year old DD watched with me last night. It was cute. I don't agree with ALL of the bad reviews I am seeing. It definitely had a little too much of the cartoon mixed in but I enjoyed Queen Latifah and John Stamos' performances.
I saw The Little Mermaid on Broadway in 2009. THAT was fantastic. I don't know why they couldn't have done way more on the stage as opposed to using so much of the cartoon. It was unnecessary.

I tried twice to watch it - nope. I just couldn't do it. I think Disney stage shows at Disneyland are better performed and acted.
I'll wait for the movie on Disney+ next week.
