I got my prescriptions!!! I saw a nurse practitioner today for the first time. I simply adored her and wish I had found her when we moved to Ohio 4 years ago. She seemed genuine and caring and very much more interested in my health than the previous office I went to. She refilled all of my prescriptions (except Ambien), with 90 day refills, as our insurance runs out in 10 days. I got a flu shot (I work with children) and a ton of blood work. Based on my history and current symptoms she wanted to check for autoimmune issues.
Those in her office do not write prescriptions for any type of addictive medications. I told her I understood, but to not leave me hanging. She wanted to try Visteril, as I am having anxiety from my husband’s job loss this week, hoping it helps some. I explained nothing else has ever been helpful like Ambien, and I have doubts about this, but willing to try it. She wants me to have a sleep study when we have regular insurance again. Ohio is so damn strict on their prescriptions!
I came home and my husband was finishing a phone call from someone in HR with a company in Kansas City. I hate tornadoes and blizzards. He will get a call about an interview next week. He was also contacted by a headhunter about a position in Greensboro, North Carolina. I would much rather prefer the south if we have to move again!
At least this news is a little brighter!

You sound so much better today. I know it will be tough for a while but good for now!
You might look into coupons from the company that makes Ambien as well as GoodRx and the other cards to get discounts on prescriptions.
Good luck!

We have more than tornadoes and Blizzards in KC. We're in the middle of our most beautiful season, fall, but heading into the he double hockey sticks that is our winter. We're not that much different than Ohio, though you guys might get a tad more snow.
That being said, this is the time of year I start muttering about moving further south.

I am so sorry to hear about his job loss but so thankful he is working with headhunters. Greensboro is wonderful. Heck NC is wonderful but I am a bit biased. Praying he gets something soon, and glad you had a great NP to help you for now. Hugs and prayers!

I have just moved, in my retirement from work, to the south - leaving Kansas City. I was hesitate to leave KC - but made the decision to do so in order to cut my living costs and to get away from winter. But, it was a hard decision because Kansas City, MO is a wonderful place to live - it is a beautiful "smaller" big City - lots of preservation of older buildings, some newer building, good arts and culture. Yes - it has its problems - but on the whole - Kansas City is a great place to live!
