We always slept with it open because I needed to be able to hear the kids. Now that they are older and louder i don’t want to hear them! Hahahaha!!! Just curious....

Open. Gets too hot or too cold otherwise, depending on the season.
I do leave it shut during the day now, so it does get super cold up there. I like to sleep in the cold. DH, not so much. So it's open after we go to bed so it does warm a bit. It's 'see your breath' cold sometimes! LOL

Always opened. Same as you when the kids were little. Now we have a dog who needs to patrol the house several times in the middle of the night so she needs the door opened. And no we can't shut the door and leave her outside the room during the night. Horrors! Separation! Aliens might abduct us from the bedroom if she wasn't watching! etc! lol

Open. Otherwise the cat would scratch and cry until he could get in. The dog can open the door himself LOL!

Opened for the animals. Both kids sleep with theirs closed which is better for fire safety

We have two doors into our bedroom. The door at the top of the stairs is closed. The door into the bathroom, which opens into the upstairs landing, open for the cat. We've always had to keep our doors cracked open for various cats we've owned.

I used to sleep with it closed when my kids were at their dads, and open when they were home. I was just weird about wanting them to feel welcome to come in my room and afraid of bad guys breaking in when they were gone.
I sleep with it open all the time now. I guess I’m not afraid anymore. That said, I used to live in some sketchy places.

Closed. I need quiet to sleep and dd(19) is a night owl and in and out of her room and up and down the stairs. And the dogs with their jingling tags follow her around. We have the door closed and a fan on.
Even when she was younger, we had the door closed. Her room was just on the other side of the wall behind our headboard and it was a tiny old house with thin walls. We could hear almost every snuffle, whimper etc.

Shut but not fully closed. Like right before the knob poky thingy gets pushed in to have it fully closed.
Dd sleeps with her door closed.
Ds has his open.
We have ours closed as ds needs the hall light on or he can't sleep.

Open just enough for the kitties to come in, with a door stop because one kitty will come in and stretch on the inside of the door and close himself in.

I always slept with the door open so I could hear the kids. Plus it stays cooler in the room with it open.

I sleep with it closed to keep my two cats out ... otherwise they fool around in the bedroom all night and walk on my head

Door open enough for cat to slide in and out. I have to have a good flow of air through the room as I am on an Oxygen compressor at night.

Closed. I do prefer it open for the pets and so I can hear the kids better but I watched a video showing a fire in a house where the master bedroom door was closed and the baby’s room was open. The baby’s room was entirely full of smoke by the time the smoke alarms went off and the parents room had only the slightest amount. Seeing the difference in real time was shocking.

When kids were little it was open, now closed. Those who live here keep then closed at night now.
Dogs are crated in our bedroom at night and I think the movement of the kids during the night and early morning hours as they get out to work would disturb them.

Everybody sleeps with closed doors in this house. I can hear the kids just fine if they need me.

We sleep with the door open. The dog likes to patrol the house when my husband is out of town.

Open because if it’s closed the darn cat will claw to get in or out. He’s never happy!

I used to sleep with it open until I married a firefighter, for the reasons Crack-a-lackin mentioned above.

Shut but not fully closed. Like right before the knob poky thingy gets pushed in to have it fully closed. I think it might be a Southern phrase but we would say that we shut the door but not pull it to. It looks weird written out though. We sleep with ours open mostly for air circulation. We have an empty nest so there's no reason to shut it.

I needed a different poll option. I used to sleep with the door open to have better airflow through the house, but now we have a new/used dog that likes to steal stuff and chew it up so he gets closed in with us. Our bedroom/master bath are for the most part dog proofed so he doesn’t need to be crated, but he does need to be confined because the rest of the house isn’t. DD used to leave hers open too but now she almost always sleeps with it closed because it’s darker in her room that way. The only problem with that is her room is on the northwest corner of the house so with the door closed at night it gets pretty cold in there.

Open for pets to move as well as air to properly circulate with the central heat/cooling working.
