My guess is while they don't like the act, they do like the results.

Sharing uh for a friend...I know one doggie who likes to eat the crust (I'm guessing it's the salt) and will like the other doggies eyes and beg for you to give him the crust from his own. But this uh doggie I know (for a friend) also likes to lick your finger if you've scratched the underflap of his ear and close to the canal.

My mini-Doxie cleans the eyes of both of our beagles. She does a really good job. Much better than when I use a tissue. Unfortunately, neither beagle will return the favor, so I have to clean the Doxie's eyes. She seems to enjoy it. My dogs are weird. LOL .

I think so- it's one of the things I do every morning when I say 'good morning' to our dogs...
Krista does rub at her face every once in a while with one of her front paws, and I imagine it's because the eye gunk is uncomfortable?? I know it's uncomfortable for me when I have crud in the corner of my eye...
(I wasn't gonna say this, but since someone else already did, well... Prescott always licks the gunk off of my *friend's* finger after I... uhh... *she* gets it out of his eye.)

Hahaha, nope.
She tolerates us doing it, but "like" is not the word I'd use.

Our shihtzu mix is a eye crusty girl. Our corgi boy almost never has crust. But he's happy to eat just about anything.

In my house we call it kitty gunk (for the cats duh!) but eye gunk for dogs lol and happily neither cat and our now gone dog had it often...and absolutely no one ate it 😜

Our doggies are mostly eye gunk free. But one of our cats is named Booger because she’s always had lots of eye gunk. She does not like having it cleaned out.

do they like it? of course not. but do they appreciate the relief from it? i'm sure they do.
DH is in charge of taking off the crusties. our bigger dog is tolerant of it but the smaller acts like someone is trying to steal his eyeballs. thank goodness he doesn't get as much as the larger one

Only one of our dogs gets crusty eyes and she absolutely HATES getting the eye boogers picked out of her fur.
ETA: I don’t let her eat them either because that’s disgusting.

I use a fine-toothed flea comb on my pup because it gets it all the eye boogers off in one effort and I don't have to touch it. He must like it because he comes running when he sees the comb come out. He also likes to grab the crunchy bit off of the comb to eat it. This is a dog who will lick the bottoms of my feet and between my toes if I let him.
He has learned that if I say "Ow!" that blood will most likely be leaking out of me somewhere. He immediately runs to me and stands on his hind legs to sniff me to find where I'm bleeding from. I won't let him lick my wound, but if I'm bleeding with any volume, he will clean up the floor from whatever has dripped off me like he did when I stubbed my toe this morning. He's not very discerning. Oh, and you have to immediately put a used tissue in the toilet and flush it or he will try to snack on people boogers too.

No. I had an older sheltie that I cleaned out her eyes and ears every morning with a warm, wet washcloth. I was really gentle and she got pets afterwards. My corgi pup would see this and would come slowly walking into the bathroom with his head down like dead man walking. Then he'd get extra pets and loves and we would repeat the next day. Now that I just clean out the gunk he isn't a fan.

My Doberman cleans one of the cats eyes for her & she cleans his eyes. Then they clean each other’s ears. It is a nightly ritual at our house & pretty damn cute! Veronica, the cat is the only one who allows Merle, the Doberman to do this with her.

I do it every morning before Daisy’s breakfast. I tell her I want to get her “eye boogies” out and she’s fine.
