I am beyond shocked at the announcement this weekend that Salt Lake City is the location for the new housewives franchise. So many thoughts are running thru my head. I’m dying to know if memory making/scrapbooking will be part of it. How will there be drama if nobody drinks? Is Mormonism going to be center stage? Can you imagine someone like Lisa Bearnson as a housewife?

I can’t keep up with all the Real Housewives, but I got to believe that this could be a real snooze.

There's more non Mormons than Mormons in Salt Lake City. There's an area called the Avenues where rich people and academic types live. University of Utah is nearby. The current mayor is Lesbian. Representatives that win from that area are usually Democrats. They actually have a strong LGBTQ community.
The Real Housewives of Utah County would be a total shit show with the Mormon themes. Scrapbooking isn't a big deal in Utah and hasn't been for a long time. I haven't seen any of the other housewives shows, but I'll at least watch the first episode.

I think they will spend an inordinate amount of time in Park City for a show named for Salt Lake.
I read a twitter thread tongue in cheek postulating the episodes, he absolutely roasted the Utah penchant for ridiculous name spellings. It was so perfect.

I bet they have at least some active Mormon women on it. Otherwise, what would the draw be? People watch this show because they want a glimpse into a lifestyle that’s different from their own. So, for most people, the appeal to a show in SLC is the religious aspect of it, which is very different from their own religion.

I’ve been so excited for the new city. Looks like plenty of drama. I don’t think I expected it to be so religion-centric though. That may get old fast.

I have never watched the show and after watching that trailer I am not starting yet. Where do these type women come from? I don't get it I guess. I keep thinking there will be a Denver/Vail or Aspen show, but not yet.

Oh, gag. I already get enough of these type of women in my real life (I live in a bedroom community near Salt Lake), I can’t imagine watching this. The trailer was so cringeworthy!
Also, Utah is waaaaay prettier than that trailer shows. Am I right, Utah Peas?
Yuck! There are great things about living here. That trailer looks like all the bad parts rolled into one. 🤮

It looked much more like “The Real Housewives of Park City” (not that there is anything wrong with Park City). I’ll pass 😊

I've lived in Utah for 22 years after having grown up near Chicago and living for a decade in California. I've encountered women who look/act like these in Chicago and definitely in California, especially when I lived in OC, but I have never encountered any of them in Utah. Of course I'm just a regular person living in the suburbs and I don't hang out with the rich and famous in SLC or Park City so that may be why.

I live near Park City, and spend a lot of time there, and I’ve never encountered people like that, either.
Also, that reputation Utah has for having naturally pretty women? No one will ever believe that now... They shot it to shit.

I don’t think I expected it to be so religion-centric though. That may get old fast. I didn't get that feeling from seeing the trailer, especially after I was religious until my 30's. Confession: Aunistee is my sort-of cousin’s daughter. There are a few other names I recognize in both this video and the follow-up of boy names, but their spellings are a little more generic. I’m pretty damn sure there’s only one Aunistee, though. Confession: For my own amusement I keep a list of the best names I hear. A personal favorite right now is Yesica and Krymson. I get it; my name is a normal name with cre8tive spelling.

Sorry, I can't stop laughing [and cringing]. As if real life isn't scary enough, why would anyone think people will like this? Just my opinion, of course.

We were boring, we gave our kids traditional and traditionally spelled anglo names.

I haven’t watched the trailer but the Bravo accounts I follow on Instagram have been posting about it. One of the wives married her late grandmother’s second husband? 😳
I thought it would be alcohol free but they aren’t all LDS women. Thank goodness! What would the franchise be without someone getting drunk and falling down? 🤣
On the topic of creatively spelled names I have an acquaintance whose nephew is named Knohl (Noel). 🤔

As another “normal with cre8tive,” I feel you. If you want to add to your list, Aunistee’s sister is Libertee, and she has two aunts named Tresure and Tifnee.

I thought I did too, but because of the creative spellings, I've been constantly asked on how to spell two of my kid's names. I didn't think my daughter's name would be too popular, but there were two other girls with the same name and all three have different spellings.

If you want to add to your list, Aunistee’s sister is Libertee, and she has two aunts named Tresure and Tifnee. Not to be confused with my cousin Tiffannee. I lucked out not getting my oldest sister's name. Very common but you don't pronounce it that way! She was actually named after someone born in the 1940's.
