I have a crew here right now. I think there are 3-4 guys. Should I tip them individually? We have 56 windows so the price is several hundred dollars as it is. Should I give them something extra as well?

No, you are paying for the service and they are making a wage for it.

No. I don't tip anyone beyond the waitress/hairdresser. You are paying the company who I assume is paying a fair wage. If it's particularly uncomfortable outside (rainy, hot/cold), I might offer a beverage (hot coffee or water).

What is it with you guys and tipping everyone?! You pay for a service, someone carries out that service, end of story. They do a great job - well yes, isn’t that the point? Or does everyone anticipate a mediocre job and therefore feel obligated to pay more when the job is done well? Rather than expecting excellence in the first place? I just don't get it!

I think the tipping thing is out of control here. I’m of the opinion that if you go over and above your duty you get a tip but if it’s the service I am paying dearly for, no. I do tip waiters and hair dressers.

I don't get it either and I live here! When counter service restaurants started allowing their employees to put out tip jars (they are NOT paid a tipped employee wage), and then restaurant servers started insisting that 20% was the correct tip amount over 15%, everything went to hell! I don't get tipped for doing my job well! Trust me as food prices go up, the tip amount goes up. No need to convince everyone that 20% is the amount you expect. I would rather see the restaurant pay a living wage.

No. Just No. I refuse to tip on a service that I've already contracted for with a legit business. What's next - tipping the electric company? Verizon Wireless?

Wow, that's a lot of windows. Sounds perfect! The more windows the better in my family's opinion. We love natural light.
No, I wouldn't tip.

No. Offer them water or Gatorade or whatever. That's it.

No, but I always hire those types of services directly with individual business owners of small local businesses so they aren't employees.

I live in Washington state where the minimum wage is $12 hr (for everyone) and next year it will be $13.50.
No way am I tipping everyone and I seldom even do 20% for servers. In non-fancy restaurants I usually tip about $2 per person. If a waitperson has only 4 table turn each hour and each leaves $4 (4x4=$16) that + wage ($12) is $28 an hour. Enough already!

No, I'm paying him the rate he's quoted for cleaning my windows. I don't get all this tipping, I really don't. I think that lesley said it best
