We are supposed to get hit with a big storm from Wednesday through Friday. We (SO and boys) were going to go up to a relative’s house for lunch on Thursday, about a 100 miles away, at the height of the storm. I am telling my SO that we should just skip it this year and have dinner at home and have the boys come over here. Traffic will be bad enough without the added stress of pouring rain. A 1-1/2 hour drive will probably take close to 3 hours. I think I’ll go buy stuff to make dinner on Thursday just in case.

For years we drove the grapevine for family dinners. So glad we don't do that anymore. I love, love staying home!

I also wonder how long it will take people to get to Vegas this year. That has become a popular Thanksgiving destination. I love staying home too!

My parents are 25 min away and we are still going. Other family driving in is about 2 hours away and they are still driving in. We are in southern Ca too. Don't think it will be as heavy as our last rain a week ago and so far not as much in a 24 hour.

We have always marveled that we never got stuck up there in the thirty years we traveled over the hill. Several times they closed it right behind us but we always squeaked by.

That is the way we head and if you aren't in the area you need to be by 11am you sit on the 10E, especially right before Cabazon.

My parents won't be driving down from northern Minnesota. My dad does not drive any longer and my mom does not like driving in snow.
My son will be driving down from Fargo and I am hoping he will be able to make it home. He is a student at NDSU, so worst case he will have to stay there or maybe go home with his roommate (he is only about an hour from Fargo) and we are 3.5 hours.

You are getting the storm that is currently hitting us. We are looking at 2-24 inches of snow.
If you are going to stay home, get a grocery pick up list together and make sure you get it before the storm
DS's university told the kids last night they were canceling classes so ds is already home.
Other than hin taking his gf home in about an hour, we aren't going anywhere for the next day

It's suppose to start snowing Thursday evening. Our plans haven't changed since we are cooking at home, but my mom who lives 2 hours away isn't coming now.

Cal. We are supposed to get hit on Wednesday. This is supposed to be a pretty big wet and cold storm for us.

One brother was supposed to come up from Nevada to Montana, but he isn’t going to... um he has lived in Alaska for nearly 50 years before moving and he is scared of the storm. 🤦♀️
I have enough food for the next two months....

Today was day one of three of the pipes in out house being replaced. The guys who were here today all live in Denver. Denver is supposed to get 16-24 inches of snow tomorrow. Ack. My Thanksgiving plans might be changed for me if the crew can't get here to finish t all by Wednesday afternoon.

We're supposed to get almost an inch of rain in Orange County, CA on Wednesday. Thursday, we are supposed to have intermittent thundershowers. We have been hosting Thanksgiving ever other year for 30 years and I think we've only had rain once. I have 50 people coming over. I just hope I can fit everyone inside.

I'm up in northern MN. more east of NDSU, but it's suppose to completely miss us up here. I think Fargo to. It's more southern MN, and Twin cities area. Of course my dd is driving home Wednesday afternoon. I'm hoping they have it cleared off by then.

We got a couple of inches today and it's supposed to move South to where we were going to travel. My in-laws new house isn't quite ready anyway. It's a 10 hour round trip.

We're expecting 2-4" of snow on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning in Eastern Nebraska. It's supposed to stop by 9am Wednesday. Thursday is expected to be mostly rain. Western Nebraska is getting the real snow like Colorado.

Western Nebraska is getting the real snow like Colorado. We're driving into this mess on Thursday (but I wouldn't be sad to skip driving to the in-laws!) Here in central IA we aren't supposed to get most of the snow, but the wind could be pretty bad on Wednesday. We're coming home Saturday night to avoid the snow on Sunday.

DH and I are among the 9,000 or so registered for the Oceanside Turkey Trot and plan to go rain or shine. I think. I'm trying to wrap my head around the rain part. I definitely would be thinking twice about driving a 200 mile round trip unless you have the option of staying overnight, katlady.

Maybe you’ll get a break in the rain during race time!

We cancelled today. Two people are sick and the other two are most likely going to get snowed in and if not the weather driving from there to here would be really nasty. It just isn't worth it. Safety first at this point. First time in 23 years not hosting but oh well. We will see everyone in a few weeks when we host an early Christmas. Hoping everyone gets well soon.
With health issues this year I bought several pre-made things from Costco assuming that I wouldn't feel good and then its just going to be the three of us Oh well. If I had know we were going to cancel I would have made plans to either go out or have it all precooked but oh well. Hubby is going to smoke the turkey in the rain - the smoker will be pulled in under our patio and most of the other food I will make on Wednesday.
The news has made this storm sound really nasty in some areas and sounds like there will be a lot of snow in our local mountains - Well San Diego mountains I haven't seen anything about our actual local mountains.
I am thankful to not be going out in the rain as Southern Californians go a bit nuts in the rain they either drive like they are in a race or so slow they are a hazard. I can't believe how some people drive in the rain speeding and zip zagging in and out of lanes and cutting people off.
Be safe everyone and have a great holiday. I think we will be watching movies and playing games.

Snow line is 3000 feet for San Diego County with up to a foot of snow expected. It looks like the same for Riverside.

I love looking out and seeing snow in our mountains and they got a bit last week. I wonder if Temecula will get snow this year. We had some in 2014 on NYE and hear it happens about every ten years. We had a cold winter last year with lots of frost but no snow.

We are forecast to have 7-12" here in the Twin Cities, mostly tonight and early tomorrow morning. Fortunately, we are not driving until Thanksgiving day, so it will be fine. My parents usually come here from 2 hours north, but my dad isn't up to it. I'm bringing the entire meal, DH, DD, MIL, and BIL up there for the day.
Pray for me, LOL!

We decided to go to Orange County on Tuesday instead of today to see some family members. It hasn't started raining here yet but the clouds don't look friendly, and I didn't want to be stuck on the 91 in the rain. Tomorrow we are doing Thanksgiving with my parents and they aren't far.
