I did post about creating your own ephemera yesterday, but no one really seemed interested, and I realized that the change of subject hijacked the thread, so I deleted the posts. My apologies, azcrafty . It was not my intent to derail the thread.

Scrapbook Expo is in my area right now. I looked up the vendor list, and there were only about 24 vendors, two of which were a skin care vendor and a massage pillow vendor. I debated whether or not to go, since it was so small, but I was hoping to find things for scrapbooking Disney and Universal trips, and I was very happy with what I found. Tall Mouse always has some fun things for card makers, too, and it seems like the only items they offer online are the less popular leftovers from conventions. If you want to good stuff, they only have it at convention. They were the main reason that I decided to go.
I didn’t stay more than two hours. I easily could have stayed longer, but I’d spent more than I had intended as it was.
I thought that it was definitely worth going to, despite the shrinking number of vendors. I have no LSS near me, and the craft stores offer very little of interest. I mostly buy online these days.
Have you given up going to the conventions, or do you still go to them if you have a chance? If so, do you have to travel far, or do you only go if they are relatively close to you? For me, it’s the latter, but I’m lucky if I manage one each year, even though we usually get about 3. This year, I am really hoping to go to all three. One down, two to go, however small they may be.

+ Travel & map papers that are not vintage style + beachy & nautical paper & icons + woodgrain papers, especially the lighter shades + weirdly, I seem to be a sucker for citrus fruit or berries - I guess I just like the look of them Oh, yes, this is me, too, but add music notes/musical instruments, Plus outdoor/camping, almost anything related to nature, especially mountain and beach, And fall icons, such as cute scarecrows, pumpkins, autumn leaves, anything farm related, and anything that looks like wood.

I have a lot of stickers does anyone knows a good source for inspiration how to use them? Or should I just de-sticky ( not sure how you would call this process)them and use them as a ephemera pieces? Thank you for the great idea scrapnnana . I have a SNC and not very computer savvy, but maybe worth getting a file and try it out. I use my SNC without the computer. If I wanted to use it to cut Silhouette print and cut designs, I would use the Silhouette software to do the printing, then deselect the black boundary markers after scanning the sheet with the SNC, and let the SNC do the actual cutting. As for de-stickying stickers, I would probably try to use baby powder on the back of them, and wipe off the excess. joblackford, I will play around with the Doodlebug cut files this evening. I think there is a way to turn them into print and cut. You can turn off cut lines, and I know that I have some Doodlebug cut files from the Silhouette store. I think I found a tutorial online once. I think.

These cards are adorable joblackford . I need to check out Doodlebug. Do you get a good deal on them somewhere? My LSS prices are quite high on the ephemera packs. Thanks I just buy everything from scrapbook dot com. The prices have gone up a bit recently, I think, but because I use 90% of every pack and every scrap of paper I buy it feels like a pretty good deal for me. Back when my business had to calculate how much was spent on each card (for the taxman) they proved to be pretty good value... as long as I used them all up. I think they run $7-8 for a paper pad and $9-10 for die cuts. I've stopped buying the sentiment ephemera - too hard to use up - so if I spend $18-26 on a set (sometimes I get two paper pads or get some 12x12 b-sides to supplement) and make 35-60 cards I can keep materials costs for each card to about $1 - $1.50. Your cards are adorable, joblackford ! Just a suggestion for those who aren’t happy with the rising cost of ephemera packs, but don’t want to take the time to stamp and color images for the sheetload cards (or you just want some new, different designs): If you have a Silhouette electronic cutter, you can buy Doodlebug and other company print and cut files from the Silhouette Design Store. I have a subscription, so buying print and cut files is very affordable for me. I only print and cut the ones I like, and I can cut them as many times as I want. Silhouette offers a lot of other fun print and cut files, too. I just downloaded some Wizard of Oz print and cut designs yesterday (Carta Bella). Silhouette has a 50% off sale on all their designs right now. Although Silhouette offers an SVG option for many of their cutting files to be used with other electronic cutters, the print and cut files don’t seem to have that option, but you could use the Silhouette free software to print their designs, then hand cut, or use a Scan-N-Cut if you have one. Edited to add: Doodlebug has almost no print and cut designs, but Echo Park and Carta Bella have quite a lot.

I love my TH stamp platform. I have both the large and the small one. I use a piece of fun foam on the platform to give the stamp a bit of cushion. The images come out better. Also I don’t use the magnets since sometimes it keeps the top from being level and the image doesn’t completely stamp out. I use drafting tape to hold the paper. Same here, although I have been using Scotch removable tape. I just ordered drafting tape a day or two ago, since I recently saw a card maker using it in a video. However, I don’t use a cushion. I just ink my stamp again and re-stamp when I need the image a little darker.

It sounds good, although the price that showed on my screen was $350. I saw no hints of what is included in the kit, until I scrolled to the bottom, where I saw “add-ons” you could buy, and which did not impress me. I realise that they aren’t part of the kit, but they presumably coordinate with parts of the kit.
If anyone has done Altenew retreats in the past, did you feel that what came in the kit was worth the cost? Yes, I realise that part of the cost is the instructors, too, but they say the value is about $900, which I assumes covers the cost of the instructors.
I have resisted retreats from all companies, and I am wondering if I am missing out, since many here seem to love retreats and feel they are worth the cost.
If you have participated in the past, what has your actual experience been, please, particularly with Altenew retreats, but not necessarily limited to just them?

I'm sorry to hear that scrapnnana ! I really hope they can send you a replacement order. I used my mat some more after I posted last night and can't get over how well it worked. Cut like butter. I'll never buy the brand-name mats again. Yes, they are wonderful mats! The Silhouette mats are much thinner. I think that the firm surface of the Nicapa mats helps get a better cut. I’ve used them for awhile, but when I get going on projects, having multiple mats is easier. I don’t really need more mats, but that was such a good price, and I wanted extras for future use. I can afford to wait a bit and see if Amazon will get me a replacement, or if they eventually show up, because I know from past experience, that even the few packages that get lost may eventually show up. I think they won’t offer a replacement right now because that size in the ten pack is out of stock.

Oh, that is cute! But as cute as it is, I’m not even tempted, because I used to have a membership to that club. They had a really great set here and there, but I didn’t really love most of the die sets. It just wasn’t worth it to me to keep subscribing, and if I subbed again, it would probably just be more of the same: one really great kit every six months or so, with the rest just being okay or dies that I will never use.

I still haven’t gotten mine. They were “delayed” and finally shipped on March 1. The carrier picked it up on March 5th. No updates in two days. Amazon is usually pretty good, but this has gotten ridiculous. I’m not in any hurry, but I am curious if anyone else ordered these and actually got them promptly. Or at least got them eventually. Anyone? I ordered the transparent standard grip for Cameo and received them within 3 days. I just used one tonight and it worked perfectly! Have you received yours yet? I've seen several other things where people's orders have been getting held up and/or re-routed, so hopefully your order is still (slowly) on it's way! No, it hasn’t come, and Amazon says it is lost. I have had a lost item show up before. In that case, it showed up 4 to 6 weeks later. The stupid thing is that it wouldn’t be a tiny package, so I keep hoping it will show up, but if it doesn’t, I want a replacement, not a refund. Unfortunately, they aren’t giving me that option. So I probably need to talk to Amazon help.

The one on the lower right corner, to the right of the beehive, might be a bluebonnet. It looks somewhat like it.
If you are asking about the one in the upper left corner, above the beehive, I don’t know what that one is. Wisteria does hang down, but the stamp in the upper left corner doesn’t look like wisteria to me. I used to have one in my yard. The blossoms just don’t look right for either one to be wisteria.

As for the OP’s actual question, my stamp collection (which includes those cheap Studio G stamps) has been a huge help in both card making and scrapbooking over the many years. It’s surprising how often I needed a small sentiment, and one of those Studio G stamps turned out to be better suited than my higher quality rubber stamps.
I have some Disney themed embossing folders that have held up well and have been used for a variety of cards and Disney pages.
And dies seem to last forever.
One thing that I have noticed is that stamps, embossing folders, and dies never go out of style.
I have some pre-printed titles, though, that I think will never be trendy again. They are ultra cutesy. I may use them on pages of my kids when they were young (I am really far behind), or my grandkids, but I will have to get creative with them. My style hasn’t been cutesy for a long time.

One thing that hasn’t stood the test of time among my supplies are the epoxy stickers that yellowed. And I have a few rubber stamps, all from the same manufacturer that didn’t hold up well. Yes, those epoxy stickers are awful. I still need to get them off my LO. Trouble is, how to cover up/fix what I pulled off. I am wondering about my rubber stamps as well-if they will crumble over time, etc. Some of them I just love so much. I’ve been collecting stamps longer than most here. I started stamping and collecting stamps almost 40 years ago, when I was young. The only ones that have had an issue were one particular brand. They kind of “melted” in their binder storage, to the lines are a bit thicker. In a few cases, the stamp became almost unusable (key word is almost). They are really cute stamps, too. I don’t know if that company is even still in business. The bedroom that my stamps were stored in did get kind of hot during the summer, but they still shouldn’t have had the issue. No other brands did, and they were all stored in the same way, and in the same room. All the other stamps I own (far more than any sane person should have) held up just fine over the years. No melting, no crumbling, no deterioration at all.

Before Tuesday Morning closed, I used to hit the SB lottery there occasionally, usually with lines of papers that I love, such as Graphics 45. It’s been a very, very long time since I scored such a rare find. I guess the closest thing for me would be the enormous discounts I’ve gotten on some favorite Heartfelt Creations papers during their going out of business warehouse sales. I don’t know if that counts, but I am delighted for those here who got something they needed or wanted that may have been a long shot of ever finding.

I forgot about the tabs on paper dolls scrapnnana . A removable tape runner would have been super handy for temporarily adhering the clothes to my paper dolls. I'd like to make a gnome reminiscent of the ones in the Gnomes book by Wil Huygen that I was obsessed with as a kid. My brother loved it, too - it would be fun to send him a gnome card for his birthday. My gnome would need a straight hat like those Dutch gnomes, though. Too bad they didn’t have the removable tape runner when we were kids. You’re right. It would have been perfect. A straight hat should be easy to make, though, for the Dutch gnome. If you do make a Dutch gnome, please show us how it turned out. I was browsing Pinterest for generic card inspiration and a gnome card popped up. I do have the basic Jaded Blossom gnome set, and the cowboy set, but so far have resisted the temptation to buy a bunch more. After seeing the one gnome card, of course, I went and looked at the wide variety of cards made with the Jaded Blossom gnomes and their accessories. The temptation to spend a fortune on those accessories is now really, really overwhelming after seeing all the cute cards there. I need to dig through dies that I’ve already got on hand from other companies to see if I can use some of them with the Jaded Blossom gnomes, before I go on a gnome accessory spending spree.

Looking at my future scrapping hockey adventures for seven of my grandkids, I caved tonight and ordered the sports add ons. I like that these have bodies to dress up. And I got the skates add on too so the hockey players will look right. And yes, marg , I was always a paper doll enthusiast as a child. scrapnnana , I still need to set my cowboy gnome off on his road trip. I used the car for a card last month, but not with the cowboy. grammadee, I will look forward to seeing the little cowboy on his road trip when you get him on his way. I loved paper dolls as a child, too, marg, but I hated the tabs that held the clothes on. I hated the tabs so much that I cut them off. The gnomes are a definite improvement over the paper dolls I had as a child. No tabs. And they are easier to cut out, too.

Yeah. Shortly after posting that I bumped into a video interview with one of the colorers. And then Brandi’s closing video, despite not being registered. That included a come-on for the all-access pass ($60 until midnight!). I tried to poke around to figure out if I could have missed enough of interest to be worth it and was offered the AAP at $39. So I caved. Watched Daniel West right away. I’ll have to think about an image to work with while watching again. But he is always so soothing — just what my first day of new job today nerves needed. I think there were at least a few coloring classes that you will hopefully find worthwhile. I noticed at least 2 or 3 classes on coloring, possibly more.

I didn't this time, but I'm wondering if I should've paid more attention. Last year I enjoyed both an alcohol marker coloring glass and a Prismacolor pencil class. Coloring technique instruction seems a little hard to come by in the card making world. They did have coloring classes.

I did enjoy Karen Burniston’s demo, and the one class that I mentioned earlier, but most of the presentations seemed really, really basic, and not worth watching for me, either. The summit really seems to be aimed at beginners and/or promoting small YT channels now (with a few big names to try and draw viewers in). I think that sums it up.

I'm guess that most people here are either busy with one of the other events going on, or decided the Summit isn't worth the time and full email inbox. I didn't pay much attention this time because it seemed like they had a lot more instructors but not many I cared much about. I just looked and SO MANY instructors this time! No Sheetload/Alicia though, from what I could see melanieg . Glad to hear that your fav crafter delivered though scrapnnana ! And maybe you've gotten a few other good ideas There was the one class that I enjoyed, but none of the others appealed to me. I watched parts of a few, but they seemed too basic or just didn’t catch my interest. I don’t care if big name crafters have a reputation, if what they demo is just the basic stuff that I can find on YouTube, then it isn’t worth my time. I’m glad I chose the free version. I didn’t even bother watching any of the presentations today. None of the classes were of interest. Karen Burniston’s class also had a discount coupon code, so I got some of her die sets on my wish list, and I enjoyed watching her create a card. It was really cute, and it didn’t hurt that some of the dies she used were ones that I already had wanted to get.

The Simple 3D cards class by Karen McKibbon is a class I enjoyed.
Anyone doing the free version of the summit would need to watch it today before it disappears. I’ve done easel cards before, but she did have a little different take.

It’s the one run by Brandi Mahon. I chose the free version. I usually learn a trick or two, but I don’t get enough out of the sessions to want to watch them more than once. I’ve been card making a long time, so it takes a lot to make me pay to learn.
However, I love Karen Burniston, so I signed up just to be able to watch her presentation. I love her cards, I love her products, and she never disappoints.
She created a very cute card, and of course, now I “need” those dies.
Anyone else watching any part of the Summit? If so, have there been any classes you’ve really loved? Is there someone whose videos I need to see while I still can? Or someone who I need to watch tomorrow? I don’t really know who a lot of them are.

Congrats on starting a YouTube channel! I will check it out soon.
I do have a YouTube channel, but I think that I only have about 6 videos on it, all using Queen & Co. products, because I was on a Queen & Co. kick at the time. I was going to branch out, and do a lot more videos, using other companies’ products, but it takes a lot of time to do a decent video, and my DH needed a lot more help and care at the time (he’d survived a nearly fatal heart attack, and it was a long recovery). I just didn’t have the energy, and few people seemed interested. The only reason that I had even started my own channel was because I had posted a card that I’d made on the Q&Co. Facebook page, and someone asked me to do a tutorial. So I did. I had to start a You Tube channel to post the tutorial video. I did a few more videos, but it wasn’t worth the time I was spending creating the videos, since few people seemed interested. It was a learning experience, though, so my time wasn’t entirely wasted. I learned how to create a tutorial video, and I was happy that I learned how to create videos. That skill may come in handy later.
I hope your venture into YouTube goes better than mine did, though.
