For clarification, they will be offering print and cut files for use with electronic cutters, that can be used for traditional scrapbooking and/or card making. Most digital files (from other companies) are for digital scrapbooking, which don’t need as high resolution as print and cut files do.
I may have to consider getting a large format printer so I can print their beautiful papers in 12x12.

I was also a card maker before I was a scrapbooker. Now I rarely scrapbook and mostly make cards due to time constraints and just habits, I guess. I want to get back to scrapbooking more again. I did a photo book for our anniversary Disney trip, and it’s not nearly as satisfying to look at as a scrapbook version would be.
I have done a layout here and there, so I haven’t given up scrapbooking completely.
With everything that I have collected over the years, I can keep scrapbooking and card making indefinitely, even if I spend most of every day paper crafting, and even though I don’t live near any LSS. I don’t care if my layouts are trendy, or whether I am using the latest and greatest. All that matters is if I like my layout.
However, I am always sad to see scrapbook stores and businesses close. I notice that the upcoming conventions seem to have only a third to half as many booths as they used to, and that may be an overly generous estimate, but there will always be a some who scrapbook.

I love my Tonic trimmers. I have both a small, portable one, and the big office style one. Both are guillotine. Neither has ever needed to be sharpened since I first bought them brand new. I especially love the big one.

I’m not sure if junk journals are a type of mini album or not, but I have done some mini albums. They are not only fun, but can be a good way to use up papers and other items that don’t necessarily work for any pictures/layouts, but that you love. For most mini albums, I started with a mini binder or base of some kind.

WOOHOO!!!!!!!
I may not have been the only one begging them to go digital to offer their products, but I am THRILLED they are!!!
And I should check my email more often than once in the morning, or I would have seen this delightful news even sooner!

Heartfelt Creations, Close to My Heart, Pebbles in My Pocket, and now Pinkfresh taking a pause? Not to be pessimistic, but pauses often become more than just a pause.
Coming so close to each other makes it feel like a very slippery slope that could turn into an avalanche.
I could scrapbook forever with my stash, but it still makes me sad. And concerned.
Edited to add: correction, Heartfelt Creations has just announced that in April, instead of closing completely, they are making their past designs available as digital files for printing and cutting!

I was just browsing the past kits at Hero Arts and almost none of last year’s kits have sold out! It used to be that a year later there was almost nothing left. I think only Feb 2023 has sold out if both classic and premium and there were a couple of months where one or the other was all gone. I wonder if they’ve increased their supply or if demand has fallen off. I watch Scott use the kit on Card Cut Ups YT channel each month and despite his creativity I have barely been tempted by anything. I used to buy leftover parts of the kits that I liked, if anything was left. I rarely loved enough to subscribe, and I have more than I will ever need or use, so I don’t sign up for kits or anything monthly. There were some kits in the past that I liked at least parts, but it’s been a long time since I really liked anything they’ve offered.

I lost a favorite die from a set. I didn’t want to buy the set all over again. I had cleaned up my scrapbook tables, and gone through the trash. I figured it had been thrown out accidentally the previous week. A couple of weeks later, I was tidying up some random papers that had ended up behind my laptop, which just sits on a different table with my printer and my Cameo. And there was my missing die.

What paper do you use to keep the alcohol inks from bleeding through? I use Copics and they always bleed through my card stock base, so when making cards, I typically size it to be glued to the front of a card, but I never thought to do postcards till you mentioned it. It’s a fun idea. IS there any card material that prevents alcohol markers from bleeding through?

Yes, I would call that copying. I recently followed a tutorial by Karen Burniston. The small tweaks I made were so small that I considered it a blatant copy of Karen’s card and not my own design. I gave it to my sister, and I told her up front that I had copied Karen’s design.
I enjoy designing my cards myself, so it is rare that I copy a card, but when I do, I make sure to give credit where credit is due, whether I post it on my blog, and/or give the card to someone. If I can’t remember where I got the design from, I say so, and admit that I can’t remember who it was.
I capture images of cards from the internet that I like for inspiration. I have changed the way I do the capture, so that if possible, I can also capture whoever made the card. Since a lot of the cards I capture images of are Facebook posts, it’s easy to do a screen capture that includes their name, instead of just copying the image to my files. That way, if I do copy their card, I know who to give credit to.

It’s sad that another craft company is closing. Heartfelt Creations, and now CTMH. I don’t know how SU will absorb them, but at least not all of the craft products will disappear. HC isn’t selling their designs at all so far as I know. I wish they would after all if their warehouse sales are done. Their dies and stamps are lovely. Perhaps someone should suggest to the CTMH owner that she consider selling her current and past designs in a digital format at some point. She doesn’t have to come up with new ones. She has designed a ton of stamps over the years. Heartfelt Creations said they are taking my suggestion (to offer digital files) under consideration. It doesn’t mean they will do it, but at least they didn’t just ignore my email. I really hope they sell their past designs in a digital format eventually. If they sold them as print and cut through Silhouette, I would be super excited (and I would buy a ton of them)! I love Silhouette print and cut files. I would be thrilled to be able to buy CTMH stamp and other designs in digital format, too, including the papers, but since they never responded to my concerns when I wrote to them a few years ago, I will hope someone else makes the suggestion to them.

It is sad, although I’m not entirely surprised. I used to love their stamps and I have a great collection. I used to spend a lot of money on CTMH stamps and albums. A LOT of money. I bought more from them than from any other company.
Older women like me often have more disposable income, and she used to offer styles that appealed to my age group, as well as for younger women, but her stamp styles suddenly changed, obviously trying to appeal to a much younger market. The more realistic and cute styles that I had loved and used for card making, and on my pages for my kids and my grandkids, were replaced with a style that I really disliked. I felt like she had turned her back on her biggest and most loyal customers. I wrote her a letter, asking her to continue to offer stamp styles that appealed to her older customers, not just the young crowd. I never heard back from her, and she continued to focus on the younger crowd who have less disposable income.
So I stocked up on the albums and page protectors during a sale (pre-COVID), and I never bought anything from them again.
Edited to add: out of curiosity, I took a look at their current catalog. It looks like she did go back to stamp styles that were more appealing at some point, since their current catalogs do have stamps that I like, although I have so many stamps now that I really don’t need any more. I am sorry to see them close, however, and I know many people will miss them.

I don’t care what is trendy vs. what is old school. If I am doing a layout, and I have a tool or supply in my stash that suits the layout or card that I am making, I use it. As a result, I still have my punches.
However, I much prefer dies, especially right now when I am having joint pain in my right hand, and I am right handed. I think that punches are harder (on the hands) to use than dies are. Punches are bulky, sometimes heavy, and/or awkward to use. However, I have some that are a design that I don’t have in a die, so I still have my punches and use them when I need.
Whether or not it is a trend making a comeback remains to be seen, but I won’t buy any new punches. I find it hard to believe that anyone would prefer them. Dies can be placed anywhere on a page to cut the part of the design you want. Punches are limited to the edges, or at least all the ones I have are. That may have changed, I suppose, but they are still bigger and bulkier than the thin dies, and take more space to store.
It sounds like a case of “we can’t come up with anything new, so we’re going back to older products again to sell to newer crafters who don’t have a clue why they got phased out long ago…” Dies changed, but they have stayed popular through the years. Not punches.

About a 90 minute drive through horrid traffic. I went once when a former scrapping buddy came for a visit, so we had a fun road trip going to the LSS and Tuesday Morning stores. I have no scrapping buddies where I live now. I have a great stash, though, so I shop my stash and buy some things online.
Edited to add: I used to live in another state. We had a great LSS only 10 minutes from where I lived. When that store closed, a paper arts store popped up about 30 minutes away. I did go shop there.
When we moved 7 years ago, I knew that I wouldn’t be close to any LSS. I decluttered most of the contents of our old home before moving, but I kept and moved my stash.

riversong1963, I’m sorry you had issues with these mats. I use them in my Silhouette Cameo 3. I haven’t had any problems with them, but I don’t have the Cricut Maker. I looked to see if I had any Silhouette mats left from my Cameo 3, but I can’t find them. I’ve used the Nicapa mats for so long that I don’t know if I have any of the older Silhouette mats. I recently got the Cameo 4. It came with a newer Silhouette mat that is less thick, and it’s smoother than the Nicapa mats, but the Nicapa mats measure the exact same size on all four sides as the Silhouette mat does. I haven’t tried the Nicapa mats in my Cameo 4 yet. I personally prefer the thickness of the Nicapa mats. They aren’t as flimsy as the newer Cameo 4 mat.

How funny! I just had my DD order me some new Nicapa mats last week and she found that deal! Thanks for posting for others, gramma . Having those on hand for less that $2 apiece makes one not worry so much about trying to resticky and clean them. Is resticky a word? Most definitely it is a word! Even if it isn’t in the dictionary. The meaning is clearly recognizable IMO. I have used and loved the Nicapa mats before. They are VERY sticky when they are first used, so I usually use my hands or a t-shirt to tone down the stickiness. I love that it’s a pack of 10!

I would love to see their designs continue to be made available in a digital format. I’ve made the suggestion to them, but I don’t know if anything will come of it. I would love to print and cut their designs with my Silhouette, and have their beautiful papers as pattern fills that I can add to Silhouette shapes. I can dream. I don’t own a scan and cut machine, but that would be a great idea! I emailed them again today. I suggested that if it wasn’t feasible to have digital download options on their current website, that perhaps they might consider selling their designs through Silhouette. I got a quick reply. The person who responded said that they have passed along my suggestions to their team. I would be so excited if I could eventually buy their designs in a digital format. Will it be as nice as their printed papers? No, because printers are made to prevent counterfeiting, and the colors won’t be exact, but it would be nice to be able to purchase discontinued designs from the past that I never got to buy. I would also be more than willing to buy digital versions of designs that I have the entire collection of, too.

You made me look.
When I moved halfway across the country, I cut all my scraps into photo mats. It saved space, made the scraps easier to use, and I could always use the photo mats for card making if I needed. That was 7 years ago. My craft room now is not nearly as tidy and organized as it was even just a few years ago.
After my earlier reply to this thread, I started really looking at my own scraps, and rethinking what I have been doing. I am now very aware of the overabundance of scraps that are still waiting to be sorted, organized, and/or put away. I’m a care giver, so dealing with scraps hasn’t been the highest priority of how to use my limited time and energy, but because you got me to look at the pile I had avoided for too long, I started sorting and organizing my scraps. It’s also probably time to cut a lot of the bigger card stock scraps into photo sized mats again. Or card mat die cuts.
I’m not done yet, but it’s already easier to find what I want to make cards. I pulled some of the scraps and leftover die cuts, and made a card this morning. I also pulled some other scraps for additional cards. All because you brought up the subject, and made me take a good look at my scraps, something I had been avoiding.
Thank you.

It occurred to me that I might want to get some more prills from them while I still can. I use them for the centers of my handmade flowers (which I make with their stamps, dies, and molds). Some here have commented that the hand made flowers I’ve made look store bought. I’m too cheap to buy flowers, and I like being able to make them the colors that I want. The prills aren’t on sale yet, but I was concerned they will sell out fast if they ever do show up on clearance, so I ordered the colors that I wanted and then took one last look at their Warehouse clearance and found enough items to get the 70% off discount. My order came today. I’m always excited to get a shipment from them, but it’s sad to realise that this will probably be my last order. They will be closing their doors relatively soon. I found them at convention years ago, and I have loved their papers, stamps, and dies. If you aren’t familiar with them, or if you haven’t checked their Warehouse sale lately, they still have some nice things available, so here is a link: Heartfelt Creations Warehouse Sale
I have no affiliation with them other than as a long time customer.

Well, if I stopped adding to my stash, I might eventually see a dent, but I’ve been buying faster than I’ve been using.
It hasn’t helped that I have taken advantage of the Heartfelt Creations Warehouse/Going Out of Business sales. They’ll be gone very, very soon. Nothing throws restraint out the window as quickly as knowing that one of my favorite companies is about to close their doors forever.

Edited to add: Although I have a large collection of Spellbinder dies, so many of them are so old, that I’m not sure they’d even be considered acceptable in a contest entry. I would think that they would want cards made with more current Spellbinder dies.

Well, I apparently have a crappy system, although it works for me. I sort them by color and store the different colors of solid color card stock scraps in ziplock bags, then put those in Iris bins or plastic shoe boxes, depending on the size of the bags of scraps. I try to grab scrap pieces instead of full sheets for die cutting, especially if I am making cards rather than scrapbooking, but it doesn’t always happen. Patterned paper scraps are kept in Iris bins. I value patterned paper more than card stock, especially if it’s a design and color that I love.
However, I don’t live near any LSS. I am an older gal who was the last, fifth child of older parents. They lived through the Depression. They didn’t waste things, so I have a hard time throwing away even paper scraps, especially since it is surprising how you can use up even minimal scraps with some of the smaller card making dies.
If I get an overabundance, though, sometimes I rebel against my frugal upbringing and just start throwing them away.
If you’re on a tight budget, you may want to save and use the scraps, especially if you don’t live near any LSS. Otherwise, give yourself permission to toss them into the circular file. They can multiply like rabbits.
