That's great! Is that all eligible, ages 5 and up?
Our area does not have many kids vaccinated, so our numbers aren't that great. They are good for 65 and older but not so much in the younger age groups. My cousin's 6 yr. old daughter was so excited to get vaccinated! Her mom said she woke up at 5:00am that morning ready to get vaccinated.
no for 5 and up it is 86% fully vaccinated. So 86% of people 5 and up are vaccinated? People in your area are vaccinating their kids? I want to make sure I understand correctly. That's wonderful! That makes me so happy to hear!

I haven't had anything on my nails for awhile but I saw someone wearing a really pretty color the other day. I wish I had asked what it was. It was kind of a light cornflower blue with maybe a tinge of lavender. I have been leaning towards subtle colors and this had just enough of a spring vibe without being too in your face. I used to always ask people what color they were wearing. Now everyone seems to get them done, and they have no idea what "number" they used. So when I see someone with perfect looking nails, I don't ask as I assume they were done at the salon.

My county is 81% fully vaccinated. I don’t really go anywhere that is too crowded, and I have just started not wearing my mask indoors. That's great! Is that all eligible, ages 5 and up?

Yes, we are still wearing our masks. We are all vaccinated and boosted, but none of us can take a chance on getting covid (even if we had mild symptoms) or getting anything else going around. My husband's job is very stressful and he can't afford to be sick and take a day off. I am taking care of our large disabled and incontinent German Shepherd (I have to carry her on a harness as she can't use her back legs). It's physically and mentally demanding so don't want to take a chance on something. Too many pro-Trump anti vaxxers anti-maskers in our area, so I don't feel comfortable being maskless.

I haven't had the news on the past few days, I thought they were in DC last weekend. Two of my daughters are going to DC this weekend to visit my college freshman for her birthday. I guess traffic will be a nightmare. Last I knew the one truck group from Scranton PA was near DC last weekend and went home a failure. The people's convoy is scheduled to get to DC next Saturday Mar 5th. It that where your girls will be? Yes, will be there Sat. and Sun.

I wish the University where I work would lift theirs. Kind of over dealing with hot flashes while wearing a mask. As long as things are going well at least. My daughter's university still requires N95 masks in classrooms. They dropped the requirement for libraries and dorms today. They mandate all students be fully vaccinated and boosted, so I feel comfortable with no mask requirement. I hope they lift the classroom mask requirement (or even n95 requirement) as most everyone on campus is boosted. So happy she is in college now, she is much safer there than our local high school (no vaccine or mask requirement).

I've been out of town so didn't post last week and also didn't read as much as I had. 5 books over the past 2 weeks: Searching for Sylvie Lee by Jean Kwok. 3 stars. The story of a young Chinese woman who goes to Amsterdam to visit her dying grandmother and goes missing. The story alternates mostly between Sylvie and her younger sister Amy. I didn't love any of the characters which made it not as enjoyable as it could have been. Lucky Boy by Shanthi Sekaran. 2 stars. The story of a boy born to an undocumented Mexican woman who ends up in detention and the foster family who takes him in and wants to keep him. This story was a great example of what is wrong with the foster/adoption system. The idea that wealth and nationality somehow makes you a better parent. I struggled through it and ended up donating the book to one of the hotels we stayed at because I didn't want to take up space in my bag. Eight Perfect Hours by Lia Louis. 5 stars. A nice fluffy book, super quick read. Really about if we can be destined for someone. Noelle and Sam both become stranded in their cars in a winter storm and spend the time together. They part ways and the rest of the story is them constantly somehow finding themselves bumping into each other again and again as if the universe has an agenda. I'd Know You Anywhere by Laura Lippman. 3 stars. Something a little darker than I usually read. Basically the main character was kidnapped as a teenager and her kidnapper let her go even though he had killed every other one of his victims. Now he's about to die on death row and he reaches out to her. The narrative rotates between many people and the author gets into the mind of the serial killer pretty well, but I just couldn't understand Elizabeth/Eliza most of the time and questioned her parenting. Also, it really bothered me that she let her older daughter bully her son (and even blew off that she was a bully in school as well). It made her not very sympathetic. Who We Were Before by Leah Mercer. 4 stars. The story of a couple that's toddler died when he's hit by a car and the aftermath of their relationship to that tragedy. The narration rotates between the husband and wife as well as the time before the accident to a weekend away they take a few years after the accident. I think the author did a really good job showing how a tragedy like this can really blow up your whole life and thoughtless comments can sometimes become huge things. I also attempted and abandoned American Heiress: The Wild Saga of the Kidnapping, Crimes and Trial of Patty Hearst by Jeffrey Toobin. It was as dry as a textbook, I just couldn't get through it (and it was a library book that was due soon so I decided to cut my losses). Next up is "Afer I Do" by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I loved I'd Know you anywhere! It took place in Montgomery County, Maryland, not far from where I grew up. I love books that take place in places I am familiar with. Your other book looks great too!

I was reading Greenwich Park, but couldn't really get into it. Also reading The Maid - Prosse, having trouble with this one too. Have so many good books from the library, so I guess I just want to read those. Picked up No Exit as it's on hulu and want to read it first. Also got Stepsisters - Susan Mallery as a book and audio book so will do one or the other. I have only tried audio books twice and didn't like them. I started Survive the Night - Riley Sager to play while I clean and it's good! I have to pause it a lot because it's on my phone and I don't want to carry my phone around the house. So I pause it if I have to leave the room. I will try another audio book next! Do you have wireless headphones or earbuds? That works well for me. Then I can listen while cooking or cleaning. I am reading Survive the Night on my kindle. I wish I was listening because it is a little intense for me to read before bed (especially with a kid in college). But it’s good so far. I had some cheap ones, but I can't figure out how to charge them. And my kids are away at college, grad school, etc., so I will have to wait for spring break. I don't like things in my ear, so I didn't want to spend a lot on them until I try them out a few times. If I can get them to work and get used to them, I will save up for a decent pair of earbuds or headphones.
Maybe headphones would work better for me. I used to run with a walkman radio and headphones years ago!

I was reading Greenwich Park, but couldn't really get into it. Ugh, I read that last week, and finished it, but it was not good. And I like that kind of book. Not enough atmospherics, lame plot. Very disappointed. I also read Notes on an Execution, which I know some other people here were reading or read. I would give it a mixed review. On the one hand, I appreciated the back story in the book, and thought that the police officer/former childhood acquaintance character was just a particularly interesting and well-drawn character. On the other hand, I found the present-day version of the central character to be too much of a cipher, and basically couldn't wait for his chapters to be finished so I could get back to the other voices in the book. Gah, I know I have read other things the last week, but I am going to have to go hunt down what they were. Clearly they made an impression. Yes, I love that kind of book about mom friends. But maybe I will return it and read my other books instead. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!

My DD did it in Dec. She could tell when they looked at the house that the owners were an older couple who had been there many years. She told them they were a young family and hoped to make many memories there. The owners had several offers and picked their offer specifically because of the letter. DD’s realtor was shocked because they definitely did not have the best offer. I say go for it if you really want the house. It isn’t going to hurt anything. Good luck! That's a great story! I'm glad she got the house.

Another thing I do when we travel is have my neighbor check my entire house a few hours after we leave. then I have them check it again a few days later. I have several close neighbors/friends that have a copy of my house key so if I need someone to check it it is easy to find someone.

My husband thinks I'm crazy for having extra external hard drives outside of our house. I have one at the safe deposit box at the bank and one at my parents house ( but that's really old and not updated. I don't trust my parents not to throw it out). I am going to keep one of my small ones in the car and one at my neighbors house for safe keeping.
I don't have plans otherwise. We don't have many natural disasters here and even with 27 in. of unexpected snow several years ago, roads were cleared in 24 hrs.
But I have anxiety with leaving the house, especially on vacation. It takes me at least 10 min. to leave if I will be gone a few hours. I check all appliances, make suer things are turned off, unplugged, etc. So for me, I work to keep the house clean and decluttered, it makes it easier for me to leave quickly. Going on a trip is a lot of work for me to check the house.

A woman confronts a Russian soldier and offers him a pack of sunflower seeds.... the national flower of Ukraine and tells him in no uncertain terms 'Take these seeds and put them in your pockets so at least sunflowers will grow when you all lie down here' ( I can't embed the video for some reason but here's the link to the Guardian LINKThen you have another Ukraine citizens saying to a broken down armoured Russian tank "Can I tow you back to Russia?':
I uploaded a video of this on my FB and there have been crickets. Crickets. I can upload a photo of my dog with zero caption and get questions, comments, likes. But nothing for this badass woman. What do you mean by crickets? It's strange, but I saw that term used recently and wasn't sure what it meant.
These men and women are very brave! I would never have the courage to do what they are doing. I can't imagine how horrifying it is for them.

Nothing right now. I can’t wear polish at work and keep my fingernails short, but I am starting to think about getting my first pedi for the year (give my toenails a break over the winter). I always debate on what color I want, and inevitably go for OPI “I’m Not Really a Waitress,” a really pretty classic dark red, for my first pedi of the season! I love to wear this at Christmas. So pretty! When I was pregnant with my youngest, and had an appt. before Christmas, I told the nurse I love her nail polish and asked what was the name of the color. she said "I'm not really a waitress". I thought she thought I said she was a waitress because I didn't know opi had funny names!

That Arigato from Tokyo is so pretty! For some reason, colors that I like on my fingernails I don't like on my toenails. But I really like this color a lot. I bought a few bottles at TJ Max to have extras!

I have quite a lot of it, and painting my nails has become a sort of hobby. I’m amazed that my skills have improved like they have. I like the polish quite a bit. I like the wider brush and the poppy. The pedicure tools that come in the Pedi set are really good. I did all of my own pedis last summer and got a lot of compliments on my work. I use base coats from Holo Taco, and (most of the time) their topcoats too, because they dry faster. I’m in the Olive You Club on Facebook. I’ve learned so much from other users, and the O&J educational videos and Instagram live demos are fantastic for getting started. Thanks, just looked at this group too!

I started using their polish last fall. I really like their medium to dark colors, they cover nicely. I just buy their polish and their top coat. I joined an Olive and June Facebook group, and the consensus in the group is that their nail polish remover is hard on nails. I already had some Sally Hansen polish remover so I just have kept using that and it works well. The group also recommends OPI Nail Envy as a base coat and a nail strengthener and I do find it helpful. It helps keep my nails from staining. So I usually do a coat of OPI Nail Envy, two coats of Olive and June polish, and then a coat of Olive and June top coat. I use their chisel brush dipped in a bit of nail polish remover to tidy up the edges. It usually stays nice-about ut five days, and I can always give the chips a little touch-up and get a few more days out of it. It's all hard on my nails, however--they've always been very strong but they do flake sometimes now. So I try to give my nails a week or two of rest between manicures. I don't usually attempt pedicures because I'm old, inflexible and short-sighted. For spring and summer, I usually go to a salon for pedicures and keep them plain when it's not sandal weather. The FB group I'm in is called Olive and June Obsessed, if you're interested. I've found them really helpful. Thanks for the group recommendation!

I am wearing their polish right now. For me, it's great! I am rough with my hands. I think the key is to make sure the top coat is applied well. Make sure to get it to the very tip of your nail. I also apply another coat of the top coat maybe 4 days in. I do all of this at night when I am settling down to read or watch something on Netflix. I don't always do the full manicure program. Most times it's just polish and top coat. I do like the colors. Where do you get your Olive and June polish? Do any stores besdes Target carry them? I bought their cuticle stuff, but it was in a stick and I couldn't get it to work. It was $15, so I was mad that I didn't try it earlier and missed the return date for Target. I lost it and forgot I had it! haha

And these type of arguments have chased a lot of long-term peas off the board. There's a lot fewer people here now. Right now you can still be on page one with comments from 13 hours ago. Remember when it would move so fast? Cannot believe how the travel post turned so bad (I did comment on it just answering the question/giving my opinion on Clearwater). I remember how busy the board was at the beginning of covid and I really enjoyed keeping up with everyone. When things aren't going well in real life, it's nice to escape here. I miss the fun threads! I may start a nail polish thread for fun!

My husband and I planned to buy a house in Florida so we can spend Oct.-April there when he retires. We love hot and sunny weather and we are currently in the state with the least sunny days. We also wanted to travel and spend a some time in Texas. At this point, I have no interest in spending money in either state. I may change my mind later, but I am just done right now. Yes, this! One of our only “voices” may be where we choose to spend our money. We’re choosing places that are not trying to hurt, eradicate, kill off people because of who they are. Haha, yes and they will be missing a lot of money because we spend so much money on vacation!

Yes, it is very depressing. And it is really bothering me that they are not letting the men leave. It makes me so sad. I wish everyone who wants to escape be able to, and hopefully able to safely return at some point. And all the unnecessary destruction to those peoples homes and lives. Makes me so sad.
And yes, on top of the pandemic, Trump, anti vaxxers. It makes me sad that there are so many uncaring people out there. I am trying to focus on just loving my friends and family, animals, my kids universities and the beach. And I love the peas! It will take me a while to get faith in humanity like I did before 2016.

This is quite possibly the least exciting and glamorous thing they sell... but their clear storage boxes are the best. I hate to guess how many I have collected over the years and use them for all sorts of things (most not in my closet). They don’t crack or warp, the plastic is nice and heavy but super clear, and best of all they don’t change the design every year so you can always buy more of the exact same thing. This would be my recommendation, hands down. I have tons of the items listed and they are amazing. But many of them can be found elsewhere. But if you have money to spend specifically at The Container Store, I’d get one of their products or something that is difficult to find anywhere else. I can’t count the number of these boxes we have around the house, we use them for everything. And her description is spot on, the biggest things I would add is that they have a great range of sizes and that they stack really well with each other. And I agree, the best thing is that they stay the same year after year. The last time they did a slight redesign they still basically look the same and they have the same dimensions me stack perfectly with the older designs. And by older I mean at least 15 years, maybe longer when I purchased them initially. One of the biggest benefits of having all the same boxes is how uniform it makes everything look around the house, how easy they are to stack. Instead of trying to stack 5 different shoe boxes. When I no longer need one in my linen closet I know I will find a use for it soon in my craft room, or master closet or… eta: I haven’t been inside one since 2019, we’ve done delivery or pick-up. But we have a return and are going this weekend. I’m so excited! Let us know what you buy! Do you have a link for the clear storage boxes?
I love this store and I am now in the area every week as my dog's laser therapy is near it. So I love to go to Trader Joe's and The Container Store when I need something.

Slight hijack: I don't have these, but have been looking at reusable Produce Bags and would love to hear is anyone is using them. I have some very similar and use them every week. Do you wash them between uses or does it depend on what you use them for? I have never used produce bags, but would love too as I can't open the plastic ones at the store. My fingers just do not work that way! But I buy so much produce that I would need so many bags.
