I got my booster back in October -- and won't be doing it again any time soon. I had mild reactions to the first two - headache, fever, body aches for a day. But with the booster I ended up with a swollen lymph node under my arm that was the size of a baseball and hot to touch for a week. No thanks. My DH joked around that I had a third boob, lol. Its possible if they went to once a year boosters, then maybe I would change my mind. But more than that, then its a nope for me. Iām with you, Iām done. Maybe once a year like the flu shot but thatās it for me. Me too. I am good with once a year.

What do you mean maybe it didn't take? Is this something new? I thought if you got the vaccine/booster, you were well protected.
None of our family had any side effects with the first two doses and only me with the booster (kids are 18, 22 and 24). None of us got covid since vaccines and only high school daughter got it from school in Nov. 2020, before vaccines). My oldest two were exposed to covid at work in hospitals but the vaccine and mask kept them safe.
I will always worry about variants because of the unvaccinated.
No, some people do not respond well or at all to the vaccine, their bodies product little to no antibodies. Iāve read about it mostly with the immune suppressed, like those with organ transplants and auto immune diseases that require them to take medication that suppresses their immune system. From what Iāve read a lot of doctors, rheumatologists, tried to work with their patients to be off the medication for a while around getting the vaccine. But in many cases that wasnāt enough, and some people just couldnāt come off the meds. And then, like with other vaccines, some people just donāt respond for unknown reasons. I had heard about that with immunocompromised people. That's part of the reason I got vaccinated last April (I was worried at first). I didn't want to have asymptomatic covid and spread it to a vaccinated immunocompromised person, or child too young to get vaccinated.
It didn't occur to me that maybe it wouldn't work in healthy people. I wonder if there is a way to get tested to see if the vaccine "took"? That's scary! It makes me leery about being around others.

Pets are the best! They make me so happy!
When there is a pet need in our community, so many people come together and help. I don't see people come together over anything else. A sweet stray cat needed dental work and just one post in the community page brought in enough money to treat him and other pets!

I had no problem with the booster. That may mean it didn't take. Doesn't matter what the CDC says a good portion of the citizenry won't believe anyway. Had they gotten the vaccines when they were initially available or shortly thereafter we would not be seeing the ongoing variants. Unfortunately not everyone in the world had the opportunities we did. What do you mean maybe it didn't take? Is this something new? I thought if you got the vaccine/booster, you were well protected.

I need a challenge!
I have been doing laundry all morning. Our German Shepherd is disabled and incontinent, so I do several loads of wash every day just of her stuff. My house is a disaster because I spend most of the time dealing with dog stuff (vet, walks in her wheels, therapy, vet, etc.) So I will try 15 min. every hour in each room just picking up trash and laundry!

Iām 47 and got my booster on Thursday and feel like hell still. For the last 2 days Iāve felt like I felt when I had Covid in December. Iām not interested in anymore boosters. It's awful, isn;t it? I hope you feel better soon! I felt so sick after my booster. I have never felt so sick. I got it the day before Christmas because I had no issues with the first two vaccines. My husband and three daughters (18, 22 and 24) had no problems at all with any of the vaccines or booster.

I hope the schools have masks available to kids that feel more comfortable wearing them. From what I hear in our school district, it's the parents, not the kids, who have a problem with the masks. We live in a very anti vax and anti mask district full of Trump lovers. I bet many parents won't give the kids masks to wear, so I hope they have access to them if they would like them. I also wish the kids could choose to get vaccinated without parents permission!

Ketanji Brown's husband is related to Paul Ryan. Her husband has a twin brother. This twin brother is married to the sister of Ryan's wife. It's not a close relative by marriage but... Interested family politics. I do not know what is wrong with my brain today but when I read this, I was thinking Ryan Reynolds instead of Paul Ryan and was all kinds of confused š¤£ Yes, me too! When people were saying he was so conservative, I had to look him up! I thought he was the actor!

I haven't, but will be interested in your review! I don't like buying nail polish online because the colors look so different than what I see online. Our Target has a few colors, but if they stocked more I would love to try. My polish only lasts for a couple days, so I stopped polishing my nails. But I still buy nail polish all the time.
I have to start wearing gloves every time I am putting my hands in water, so that may help. I also wear a covering over my fingers for most of the day, so that will help too.

That's great news for the vaccinated and boosted population! I wish the anti vaxxers would still have to wear masks, but they probably didn't wear them to begin with. My husband and I will still have to wear masks. We see people with Trump flags flying on their trucks every day, so lots of anti vaxxers here. Neither of us can afford to get covid or get sick, even if it is just like a mild cold (we are both vaccinated and boosted). He has a very busy and stressful job that he can't afford to miss work. I am taking care of our disabled/incontinent German Shepherd and it's physically and mentally exhausting enough.

I wouldn't feel guilty. Safety comes first. If you had gotten into an accident, even if no one was hurt, you may have a huge car expense. Not worth it to me if there was any way possible I could stay home.

This is what I had for lunch today. It was much different than the typical flavors we eat, but I liked it. Celery is always my vegetable of choice for tuna, and it worked well here. Cilantro tastes terrible to me, so I didnāt use it. And Iām from Texasā¦ I know, I knowā¦judge away! (Also judge my incorrect use of ellipses.) So this will be added to my tuna salad rotation as I have it most days. Thanks! Splendid! Glad to be the untypical contribution to your rotation. I have a friend who belongs to the cilantro-tastes-like-soap tribe and she was born in Mexico, so that genetic subgroup knows no geographical boundaries. LOL. Thanks for the recipe! Sounds good! I don't have sweet paprika, would regular paprika work? Will look for sweet paprika next time I am at the grocery store.

Two very good books this weekā¦ā¦ā¦.. SAVING MEGHAN (ā19 - Read ā22) BY DJ PALMER : 4 STARSDESCRIPTION: Some would say Becky Gerard is a devoted mother and would do anything for her only child. Others, including her husband Carl, claim sheās obsessed and canāt stop the vicious circle of finding a cure at her daughterās expense. REVIEW: Previous books by this author (both DJ Palmer and Daniel Palmer) are The Perfect Daughter (ā21), The New Husband (ā20), Forgive Me (ā16), Constant Fear (ā15), Desperate (ā14), Stolen (ā13), Helpless (ā12) and Delirious (ā11) were all 4 star re ads for me. This book, which I somehow missed, was recommended by Lisa Scottoline and Lisa Gardner who are other authors I follow. This authorās writing never fails to keep me engrossed. I thought this book was going to be similar to Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage (5 Stars), the Push by Audrey Adrian (4 Stars) and the Hulu series The Act (5 Stars). This plot was coming from the other side; doctors, hospitals and court guardians trying to protect the child. Some drama thrown-in between the parents kept this book moving. GOOD AS DEAD (ā21 - READ ā22) BY SUSAN WALTER : 4 STARSDESCRIPTION: After working up in the hospital to discover her husband has been killed in a hit-n-run accident, Holly Kendrick views to stay silent about the accident in exchange for a payout from the offender. Holly has her reasons, especially if it means helping her daughter. But Holly has no idea how much her decision will haunt their lives or what sort of danger sheās put them in. The web of lies surrounding the cover-up reaches far and secrets canāt stay buried forever. REVIEW: Recommended by an ad on my Kindle and so glad I saw this. Debut book by this author. Great writing that really pulled me in. Very original plot that moved at a good pace. Kept me intrigued with putting all the pieces together. Canāt wait for this authorās next book. I have The New Husband from the library and I put Saving Meghan on hold! All your recommendations always look so good!

I read Hostage - Clare Macintosh and really liked it! I am now reading Greenwich Park - Faulkner and also have the new book The Maid - Nita Pross. If you liked Hostage by Clare Macintosh, donāt miss FALLING BY TJ NEWMAN. Same overall plot but so much better to me. Here was my review on here and Goodreadsā¦ā¦. SEPTEMBER 2021 - 5 STARS. Debut book by this author. You just boarded a flight to New York. There are 143 other passengers onboard. What you donāt know is that 30 minutes before the flight, the pilotās family was kidnapped. For his family to live, everyone on your plane must die. The only way the family will survive is if the pilot follows his orders and crashes the plane. I was lucky to buy this book on sale for $5.99 but definitely would have paid full price!!!! The writing grabbed me right away. I was on the edge of my seat the entire book. Loved how some chapters were cliffhangers. What a 5-star thriller!!! I read Falling last summer and it was really good!

I donāt understand why people who qualify arenāt getting the fourth shot, it has been approved. I wish the CDC stated that more clearly. I had my fourth. Iām also in a UT study that tests and tracks anti-bodies and I did have a significant boost after my fourth. ( much better than previous shots but testing was also closer to the booster date ) Well, for one, they arent really making an effort to get the word out. Also, it hasnt been 5 months for most people who had the third dose. It is also disheartening that a chunk of the population refuses to get vaccinated to protect the health of the immunocompromised. It shouldnt still be this way and I should not be getting a 4th shot in less than a year. But I am. That's what is so frustrating! We have to keep getting more doses because people are too selfish to get vaccinated to help others. I have really been sad that so many are anti vax and anti mask. I really thought people were better than that.

Not a gum fan. But if I do chew, itās only for a few minutes til the flavor is gone. Plus I inevitably bite the inside of my cheek if I chew for any length of time! I can't chew gum because I bite the inside of my cheek too. And once it happens, I continue to bit it for days. I actually have to eat only soft foods for a day for it to heal before I can eat regular foods again. So no gum, it's not worth it.

I finished We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver. You guys. I snot-nosed wept at the end. This felt like advanced reading for me, because there were SOOO many words I didn't know. Luckily the narrative wasn't so difficult that I couldn't figure out basically what they meant by the context of how they were being used. I eventually decided not to allow myself to be distracted by it and just plow through. I'm not a mother. That's my vantage point as I experienced this book. I imagine mothers likely experience it differently. But I feel like both mothers and non-mothers would have visceral and dramatic reactions to this one. Am I the only reader who doesn't try to figure things out? There are times in a book where a plot line or an upcoming twist become kind of obvious. But I don't actively spend time trying to determine what the pages will reveal. I don't know that it's a conscious decision. I think I just want to experience the book the way the author intended or hoped that I would. I had an inkling of what was happening in this one, but I eventually dismissed it and just accepted what she was saying. So the end wrecked me. Has anyone read the book AND watched the movie? I'm wondering if I could watch the movie. It has good reviews, but clearly not every reviewer will have read the book. I gave it 5 stars and thought it would be a while before I could start a new book. But I picked up the next Allen Eskens book in his series and started it over the weekend... The Shadows We Hide. It's pretty good so far. Eskens has become a reliable go-to for me. I haven't read it (We Need to Talk about Kevin) yet but it sounds very good!

I work with lots of new construction clients so I see the gamut of paint colors people choose. I personally don't like accent walls. I'd rather accent with pillows, art and other decor. I would take note of the LRV (light reflective value) of the colors you are considering. I personally would choose a main paint color with a LRV of at least 70. Revere Pewter is gorgeous but it's dark and depending on the natural light, can go very green. I painted one house (with tons of natural light) Revere Pewter & it was perfect. Tried it at another house and it was SO DARK. The LRV is only 55. I just had a client use Sherwin Williams Fleur de Sel and it's gorgeous. LRV is 72. I wish my house was this color. Also, SW Alabaster LRV is 80. It's warmer. My buyers that have used it, love it! It's very popular. My current house is SW Agreeable Gray. I loved it when we painted 4 years ago but it's darker than I want now. LRV is only 60. Do you know the name of the current gray color that is too gray? What color of gray did dh's aunt recommend? Picking paint color is hard! ETA: We flipped a house last year & ended up with a custom color by requesting Sherwin Williams Repose Gray with only 25% of the pigment. I loved it and we are planning to do that again. You can buy quart samples at Sherwin Williams for around $5 before you fully commit to a color. Great info! Do you have any photos of the SW fleur de sel in the house? Or the Repose Gray with 25% of the pigment? They sound very nice (I googled the colors). I like a very light paint color. But something that makes the white trim stand out. I once used off white SW Dover White in our foyer, and in our house it looked green. So I am nervous about green undertones.
It must be fun to see the paint colors your clients pick!

Yesterday, my daughter called me from college (5 hrs. away). She was very sick with the same virus she had two weeks ago. Fever, bad sore throat, weak, tired. She went to health center at school and was negative for covid, flu and strep. She called me as she was walking back to her dorm. Twenty min. later, my other daughter called and said my college daughter passed out in front of her dorm, got a huge bump on the side of head because she hit the concrete hard. A woman was nearby and called 911. A fire truck, ambulance and police car came and she was rushed to hospital with sirens on. She ended up being fine, we were so thankful! My parents live near campus so they brought her home to their house. After hearing what happened to Bob Saget, I was so grateful to the woman that called 911. Glad to hear she's okay! Thanks! The doctor thinks she was dehydrated and because she was sick, she hadn't eaten all day either, just slept. She passes out when she gets vaccines if she doesn't eat and drink a lot before. I sent her granola bars, energy bars, gatorade and apple juice to keep in her backpack at all times. It could have been a lot worse if she fell down a flight of stairs, she was so lucky to have just a bad bump on the head (no concussion).

We do 2 ways here. 1. Mayo version Good white tuna Finely diced celery Lots of fresh ground black pepper Real mayo Fresh lemon zest Lemon juice Fresh dill I start with tuna, add a bunch of black pepper breaking up tuna gently, adding in the celery and zest of one lemon, add mayo, finely chopped fresh dill (a lot!) and then add lemon juice and more mayo to get the consistency and zing I want. (We donāt like super āwetā mayonnaise-y tuna salad) we go for a lemon-dill taste over the tuna taste. We prefer on crackers, but often will toast bread and slather on. 2. Non-mayo version Good tuna Diced celery Black pepper Lemon olive oil or Mediterranean Herb olive oil Lemon zest if one lemon Kalamata olives chopped A pinch of Greek oregano Gently toss everything together in a bowl, and drizzle the again I donāt measureāitās by taste! It isnāt supposed to be super oily, just enough to hold it together. Serve on crackers or toast. Iāve even added white cannelli beans to this and scooped it into butter lettuce leaf ācupsā for a wrap or a side dish salad version. Itās delicious! And itās sacrilegious to use pickle relish in tuna at our house! Lolā¦never ever do we do it (nor do we add it to egg salad!) I posted before reading your post with non mayonnaise option. I don't like any condiments, so will have to try this. Thanks!

I don't like mayonnaise, so no tuna salad for me. But I found recipes using tuna with red peppers, chic peas, herbs and eat with crackers. It's really good!
I read a recipe blog where they loved Costco Planet (something) tuna. It's $15.99 for a six pack. We haven't bought it yet but may try some.

Outside of being pregnant, I have weighed in a ten pound range since I was 18. I am 55 and five extra pounds is now sitting on my waistline - for no reason! Same diet and physical activity. Itās extremely cruel. I gave up and just wear sweats everywhere. I went from always wearing in style clothes (high school, college, 20s) and now I dress so frumpy in the cold weather. I hate the tight feel of clothes and I have such long legs that I look so odd in jeans. I probably need someone to help me with jeans shopping when I am at the store. I only shop for clothes at Target, Kohl's and Walmart, so I don't even know of other jeans! haha
I can't wait until June when it's warm and I can wear shorts! I love summer clothes!
I am going to save this thread for jeans ideas! I didn't realize how expensive they were at other stores. I am willing to save and pay for expensive jeans if they fit well and feel comfortable.

Great thread! I bought so much skincare a few years ago, and only used the stuff a couple times. I do no skincare routine at all, nothing. I get overwhelmed, and don't know the order you put things on, how much time in between, etc.
I decided to throw it all out (probably expired anyways and was opened) and start with something simple. Maybe even just use a cleanser and sunscreen each day. If I do that for a month, I can add one more thing. I will try to do it this way to avoid spending hundreds just to leave it in the drawer and throw it out. :)So if I use what I got for a month, I can add one thing one. That will help with the budget too!
Same with makeup. I have so many eye shadow pallets, eye liners and mascara that are 4 yrs. old and only used a few times. My vision up close is very bad, so I can't see to put on any eye makeup. So should all that stuff be thrown out too? Does eye shadow have experation dates? I don't want to take any chances with eye makeup.

Yes, my instagram wasn't working yesterday or today. Also, my phone doesn't work to make or receive calls. I had an important call from the vet and I can't even access the voicemail. My phone is only 2 yrs. old, but I guess they make them to not last so we have to buy new ones every couple of years.

But it's hard when we are 5 hrs. away. We are in the middle of serious health issues for our dog, and I was at the vet for the second time yesterday when I heard about my daughter. I don't even want to imagine our medical/vet bills for the past couple months! But I am just glad she is okay and only has to miss two days of classes. She didn't eat or drink yesterday, and that is what they think caused her to pass out.

Sure but in this case it's likely they will sweep the medals - it's not just one athlete doping - I'm a swimming fan and am very, very familiar with athletes breaking the rules. At least in that case you have one event compromised. I may be completely wrong, but I do feel strongly that continuing to watch and giving them the viewership they desire as the "premier" Winter Games event is supporting an utterly corrupt system that is making a mockery of fair sport. The other competitors are being held hostage because people don't care enough to actually hold Russia accountable - ultimately the IOC ONLY cares about money - if the IOC thought people wouldn't watch they'd deal with it, but they know as has been shown yet again this week - people actually don't care and if anything the scandal probably increased viewership. I personally was conflicted about whether or not to watch. But in the end I decided that I wanted to support the other athletes. I also thought about turning it off when the Russians skated, but didn't know if anyone would "know" anyway--when looking at viewers, can they get that detailed of information? I don't know how ratings work. I ended up keeping it on because I wanted to hear what the commentators said. I didn't watch much, though. I wish someone would have had more upbeat music. Everyone that I saw was kind of slow and not really that interesting to me. I just couldn't watch. I was too angry and didn't watch because I need positivity in my life right now. But I think it's great that you watched to support the other athletes. I hope the other skaters had their best performances.
