What makes the preferred nest the preferred one? Who knows what goes on in their little heads.
(Speaking as a-long-ago farmkid, whose job it was to get the eggs every Summer day.)

My iPhone, then earrings. I feel "naked" if I leave the house without earrings, but they are the first thing to come off when I return home.

For my last dose early in the morning, it came back up again. That was a horrible experience, and the same thing happened to a friend.

I actually hoard food but my husband gets it because I went hungry for so long. I'm sorry. It always bothers me when anyone/anything goes hungry. Thankfully, your DH understands.

No shopping on Sundays (except for grocery stores)until noon in North Dakota with alcohol sold in separate liquor stores because of "blue laws." During the latest oil boom, I had to smirk when a man in the grocery store asked where the beer was.

Sorry about your pup. Animals are usually quick to adapt to things that would devastate us humans. Wishing her a speedy recovery. Echoing what GiantsFan said. Wishing Mia a quick, painless recovery.

Not sure how to post photos, but she's in my profile pic. She's a chiweenie--mini dachshund/chihuahua. She's the sweetest, most loving dog in the world. As a child on the farm, I had a dachshund-chihuahua mix. He loved going down badger holes in the pasture, and I was always afraid of what could happen to him.

I don't know how to post pictures, but we have three sable and white Shelties- two girls (about 8-81/2 yrs old), and one male (he's 7-ish). Lots of hair, some craziness and the occasional frapping (and chasing after the cats when they instigate it), and those irresistible Sheltie smiles!! I always thought I was a cat person and not a dog person, until we got our first Sheltie. They're such happy dogs! Happy and very intelligent!! My soulmate dog Boots was a sheltie mix, and he was followed by my last dog Laddie, a purebred sheltie.

My dd is going away to college next year and he is already requesting that I send her care packages. I said, "You do realize that you are only going to be 1 hour away?!?" She said, "I know but, you make awesome care packages!"
For what it's worth...I still gift my 3 kids with Valentines and Eater baskets!! And, now that I have a dil, I make her one too!!! I lived only 20 miles away, and I loved/appreciated care packages from my mom or "my second mom," my closest neighbor growing up.

On the day that I adopted Maddie, my Himalayan mix, I saw the two biggest dogs I have ever seen. An adult Great Dane was visiting the rescue center, and when I took her to my vet for an evaluation, Titan, a St. Bernard, was there.

It breaks my heart that a puppy didn't receive the attention he needed, but I am so glad he is now in the perfect home for him. (I can't imagine three great dames.)

She's adorable! My ds is obsessed with corgis and also "known" for his hawaiian print shirts that he wears. For Christmas I had my niece make him a hawaiian shirt out of this print. He loved it. cute corgi material I LOVE that material!!

I so admire rescuers and fosters. I "saved" my Maddie "Floofyplants," who was a very sick kitten. Often, I thank her for surviving because I would have been heartbroken if she didn't.

One thing you need to get is FMLA paperwork to cover you for absences. The short term disability would depend on your policy. I would talk to your HR person. Donna is right. My thoughts and prayers are with your DD and family.

Wow that sounds like an amazing book in the most awful way. My Poppa was in the regiment that liberated Auschwitz. He always got very emotional when trying to talk about that experience. The soldiers didn’t know what the Nazis were doing when they came on the camp. Can you imagine?!? My uncle's experience exactly--he was haunted by it.
