Gyros: We buy the meat at Sprouts. Buy pita bread and we make our own tzatziki sauce with greek yogurt, garlic, white pepper, and cucumber (I don't like dill in mine it over powers it). Add feta and done. that sounds really easy and so fresh!

Gyros, these take 10 min tops Yeah, gyros! I get the Opaa ones in the freezer section. The meat is precooked. (Look for the one that makes six sandwiches, because it comes with pita instead of flatbread!) I buy tomatoes (which I dice) and a sweet onion (sliced really thin) to put on it, just because that's how it came at a restaurant I used to go to. Serve with french fries. Yum! This is a super awesome recipe for baby back ribs if, like me, you do not know how to grill them. Baked potatoes have been one of my fill-in dinners. (Fill-in, as in, I can't decide what else to put on the menu for the week.) If I am not specifically having them with the crockpot chicken chili I posted above, then they have been ending up as ham and cheese potatoes-- I just dice up some sandwich meat and shred some cheddar cheese. I usually add green onions, too. Get a fresh take-n-bake pizza-- my grocery store's is my favorite, but I like Sam's Club's too (and theirs are huge). I can make my half spinach and mushrooms, and the other half a carnivore's heart attack. Or Papa Murphy's I think has $10 Tuesdays. I like this Baked Ziti. You can easily halve it (for two people, you should). I like it better with italian sausage. See if your grocery store carries Papa Charlie's italian beef. (It's usually in the freezer, by precooked meatballs and things.) Just thaw it in the fridge and then heat it on the stove, then make sandwiches (provolone or mozzarella cheese) and toast under the broiler. I like to cook up green peppers, onions, and a banana pepper to put on mine. In the winter, I will make a version of Olive Garden's zuppa toscana. (It's a good use for the other half of the pound of italian sausage you're going to buy for the baked ziti.) You don't like fish but do you like shrimp? Baked Coconut Shrimp. If you want a pina colada sauce, mix some yoplait coconut greek yogurt with sour cream and some finely diced fresh pineapple. (There's a recipe for making it with coconut cream, like you'd use in an actual pina colada, but that stuff is like $5. A carton of yogurt is $1.) Serve with some type of cheddar biscuit, a salad, and other side of your choice. Watch for sales on the shrimp--get it frozen but raw. I can often get a 2-lb bag on sale for about $12. They thaw quickly in the sink. Also, yes to the korean beef! ( Ryann, here is a link, I hope.) oh my lord, this post makes my mouth water. I definitely love a twice baked/stuffed potato. Especially good with that shredded bbq chicken, or chopped beef. Yum. I can't wait for soup season. My mom makes that toscana soup, and hers is even better than OG. I have a bunch of soups pinned and ready for it to cool down (still high 90s and HUMID here).

Edamame. Seriously. Eat a whole big bag of it. If you haven't gone in a few days, try something a little gentler than miralax. Colace or dulcolax works well. Drink lots of water. More water than you know what to do with. Eat a bunch of fiber. Once you know you've taken care of the softening issue, if you're still not going, then try miralax, and if that doesn't work, go see your doctor. Edit: I say gentler because if you haven't gone, the go is going to be strainy and uncomfortable, especially if you're stopped up. Depending on how FOS you are, you could kind of hurt yourself. Work to soften first. Lol... Your post cracked me up. At this point, I am extremely "FOS". I have had problems after eating large quantities of Edamame. I guess it was an unintentional laxative! I've got some in my freezer – might as well try it! I did take MiraLAX. It is not working as fast as I wanted it to. At this point, I would even be OK with some "explosive action." anything is better than being FOS. Then... it's time to do the dirty. You should try an enema. Go buy a fleets. It's fast. Just.... hold it until you physically cannot, then hold it longer.

One super easy dinner I do is chicken in the crock pot with a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. That's it. Some rice or potatoes and broccoli - done! Another that I grew up with, single mom special LOL, was baked beans and brown bread with a veggie. Pretty yummy I totally do the chicken with bbq sauce. We make shredded bbq chicken sandwiches with the leftovers. Easy peasy. AND please don't think I'm totally stupid, but what's brown bread?

Quick and cheap for us sometimes involves some convenience foods. At Costco I like to get these pineapple chicken meatballs. They're Aidells brand and they're all natural. I will toss those in a pot with some teriyaki sauce and let them warm on a burner while I cook a pot of brown rice (I'm a rice cooker girl) and I will steam some broccoli and carrots. Boom done. We will often eat a rotisserie chicken with some roasted vegetables. We are big fans of cooking up chicken thighs in the crockpot with green salsa and shredding it to make into tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, or eat over rice. That Korean beef someone posted earlier is terrific. We sometimes make mini pizzas on FlatOut bread and everyone likes those because you can customize your mini pizza. those meatballs sound really good. I need to get a Costco membership. They have such good stuff there!

Is it $20 for the meal? Or a different period of time? Because I can make two or three meals with $20... We have several meals a week that are meatless-black beans and rice is an all time favorite around here. One adult, two teenage boys can be fed for probably about $5 for the whole meal. Homemade mac/cheese is made often along with a vegetable, pasta primavera (no red sauce-combo milk/chicken broth) and loaded baked potatoes are also requested meals. The meat is the big ticket item for most meals, a couple of meatless meals a week will really cut your food budget. $20 for the meal. The meat is a big ticket item, but this guy is a homegrown Texas country boy and won't go meatless. I used to be fine going without, but having eaten with him so long, I'm kind of the same way now.

Rotisserie chicken, deboned and picked, two cans of cream of chicken, 1/2 cup of milk, a frozen bag of mixed veggies, 1/2 an onion sautéed with some celery. Combine together, pour in 13x9 pan and top with crescent roll dough, Bake at 350 till bubbly and brown Mmmmm! This sounds delish.

If your DH despises tomato sauce, what does he eat on spaghetti night? He'll eat my spaghetti sauce if it's all meat and arrabiatta style. He just doesn't like stuff heavy on tomato sauce, like some pizzas, lasagna, chicken parm, etc.

This Sticky Chicken is another one that is cheap, quick and low calorie. Only 4 ingredients: chicken thigh, sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce and peanut butter. Oh, and coriander (cilantro) to serve. okay, so we've decided that we're just going over to your house for dinner ;-)

We're having grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner tonight. Doesn't get much easier or cheaper than that. I love this suggestion, but we've had this night several times the past month, along with pb&j and ramen. I think we're over it now ;-)

Here's the rules: we have to do it on a major budget ($20 or less), I don't like fish, and he despises tomato sauce. We don't care if it's healthy or not as long as it's delicious. We're hoping to stay away from our usual tacos, spaghetti, meatloaf, etc. cheap dinners that we're burned out on.
Any suggestions?

They pull the whole "We're best friends" route to get them out of the shitstorms and to keep "us" there shopping. Who doesn't like to shop with their best friend? Then they stab you in the back. THIS!!! Definitely this.

I am dying at instagram right now. SC has posted a giveaway - 4 hours ago - where all you have to do is tag someone to win. 4 hours = 4 people who have entered. Is it a giveaway? I didn't get that impression.

Hi to everyone! This seems to be the place where the action has moved, and I would love to find a new home to reconnect with my online friends! It's reassuring to see so many friends and familiar names from the SC boards so I kept my username the same, too. I have trouble with change and letting go, but it's time to face the music. When I saw that the two lovely ladies were dismissed from SC with threads and posts being deleted right and left, that's about it for me. I am a little overwhelmed by the size of this MB, but am dipping my toes in the pool here. It's so comforting to know that others have been going through a grief-type process coming to terms with the fact that the SC that was such a special place is no longer. But cheers to all of you and a place to continue moving forward! Yes, this place is HUGE. I've mostly stuck to this thread, but everyone is real nice and inviting. Glad to see you here!

Hey all! Thanks for the kind words - I appreciate it. Not eating really messes with me. I'm so tired and hungry and I get pretty melodramatic when that happens. LOL goldenblind221 I went to the doc today (third time in 2 weeks :/ ). She switched my antibiotics again and think I probably have thrush. Barf. They gave me a couple meds for that. I am SO over being sick. Dude. WTH. I feel for you.

Before i finish reading the thread, I must tell you that you MUST figure out your hotel situation in Austin ASAP. There may be literally NOTHING available around that time because of a huge music festival the first two weekends in October. Everything gets booked up and it's impossible to enjoy the city with everyone cramming in during that time. Get that done. I'll be surprised if you find anything, and you'll be lucky.

Oh, no...I hope you're feeling better soon! And that blog-yeah, tough bunch. Sorry you guys are being talked about. Try to ignore and forget. Definitely this. That blog is mean for the sake of being mean, I think. It's definitely not worth thinking about, or getting hurt by, or overanalyzing. If you haven't called your doctor about those antibiotics, you need to. If she can't switch the rx to something else, at least she can prescribe or recommend something to help with your reaction.

If SC had any interest in what we had to say, they would solicit feedback as they always have. I don't see them changing; I see us leaving. The only change will be the community population.

I really like and respect Magdalena a lot, but her comment really rubs me the wrong way. I respect that you like and respect her (lol), but I've seen some pretty nasty comments from her along the same lines of today's. I'm pretty sure shes been called out, but that's her delivery. Ironically, she's doing the exact same thing she's accusing others of. yeah, she's bitching about the people who bitch too much. It is ironic.
