I had not heard of him until hearing about this story this morning. He sounds like a real piece of work. However, I would be really surprised if his career is harmed in the long run. I am sure there are plenty of people that cheer him on. Seems unlikely that this will be the only stupid thing that he does, though. Well, considering CMT and the ACMs have removed him from all platforms and disqualified him from awards, and his record label has suspended his contract "indefinitely" he may have a hard time getting the big support he'll need. And that 2 major radio station owners have pulled is music over 100's of channels. If you aren't in rotation, that's not good.

I'm not sure how much of an indicator iTunes is, but in the Store, he's taking up 6 of the Top 10 Songs, and his albums are taking up 3 of the 10 slots. I am not sure how those are chosen and it could be because people are curious to hear him now that there's all this news? I hope the industry & fans gut him as fast as they did the Dixie Chicks back in 2003. Oh, but wait, he's a white dude, so... I know that prior to this, he had a few songs in the top 10 on our country radio station, so it may not just be people supporting him. Or maybe that is just me hoping that is what it is. vibe;. When his baby was born, he was posting about being a great co-parent etc. But if you read his ex's blog, you get a slightly different vibe.

I wouldn’t count him out yet. The country music station I listen to has pulled his songs and listeners are having a FIT! Saying they’re going to stop listening to the radio and go out and buy all his music. All you need do is read the comments section of any story about this, and you will see an alarming number of people perfectly ok with his behavior.

Oh for sure he is just apologizing because it got video taped by the neighbor. Clearly the neighbor knew what a dick he was. His career is done. TJ, I LOVE the Osborne brothers. On the one comment away from being cancelled. I sort of agree, yet look at some people who get a 2nd chance. Morgan for example. I think people should get a 2nd chance, for sure. But fool me once..... I mean snl gave him the chance and it may have been because they didn't have another act book. Personally, I dont care who he sleeps with or if he wears a mask while doing them. But racial slurs, to me, are unforgivable. If you say that when you are drunk, you think it when you are sober. And it’s not the first time he’s done it.

beepdave we will see if that lasts. In general, I have mixed feelings about someone being totally destroyed (like when people say they hope someone is never able to get a job again, etc) but I do feel that he needs to be held accountable. Ideally he would become more insightful on his behavior and racism, but that doesn't seem to be common.

This. So much. He will probably moan about “ cancel culture”, but it’s just consequences. Plenty of talented, decent people in the world. If you go to iTunes, you'll see that he has a good 6-7 songs in the top 20 most popular for this week. People are buying them like crazy to support him. To be fair, he's had 6-7 of the top 10 songs for the last month or so. That isn't new. But he's still a POS.

and you will see an alarming number of people perfectly ok with his behavior. I was just typing/deleting a response about Mickey. I was hoping she'd respond. I also hope to hear from Kane Brown, Jimmie Allen, and Lil Nas X. They have been having wonderful country careers as of late, but I'm sure their experiences are just like Mickey's.

Ideally he would become more insightful on his behavior and racism, but that doesn't seem to be common. The difference is, this is NOT the 1st time he's doing something stupid. He was arrested I believe in Oct for disruptive behavior, the SNL debacle, this, and there's been other things. It's not like people didn't give him a 2nd chance. he got it. and he cont'd to do what he's done. he clearly has issues with alcohol. So to save his career, I anticipate that he will be checking in to some rehab facility soon. We will see if it's too little too late. He's not going to be played on the radio, or CMT or anything. People are going to have to remember him on their own. Can they do that? Also once you buy his current stuff out, there is no more. Not unless the industry lets him back in, and that's going to be awhile.

If you go to iTunes, you'll see that he has a good 6-7 songs in the top 20 most popular for this week. People are buying them like crazy to support him. People were buying them like crazy well before this awful incident. His album crushed 10+ records in the first month, long held by Carrie Underwood and Chris Stapleton. This is from Rolling Stone in January: His album is absolutely amazing. It's literally all I've listened to on Apple music in a month. That said, I'm incredibly disappointed in him as a human. He's proven himself repeatedly to be a liability to himself. And he's close to 30, not 20, so even before the slur, it was ridiculous and stupid. Obviously hurling the N word so casually is much worse than kissing a bunch of girls during a pandemic, so now we're in a different class of disappointment. I sincerely hope that (1) he goes to rehab; he very clearly has a drinking problem (based on other incidents, some I haven't really even seen circulating too largely online), (2) he gets counseling and takes up the Nashville NAACP President's offer for a meeting, (3) he gets a better inner circle / management team. I'm not big on cancel culture, so I'm not saying the guy should now be homeless or work at McDonald's forever. He has a fan base. He could use it for good and to become a better human. But that's up to him. Some people will forgive and some won't. It's certainly changed the trajectory of his career, by his own doing.

Well. I guess we know who he really is.
His music is terrrrrrrrrrrible. It's shitty pop music passed off as country because he sings about trucks and tiny home towns. His voice sucks almost as much as he does as a human.

IIRC that weekend before SNL when he was with all those women his ex-fiancée was home with his newborn baby. They may have been broken up but still makes me think he is a big pos. I think so too! Being around all those women during covid, he obviously didn't care if he brought covid home to his newborn!

I didn't know who he was before his SNL bit. Sounds like he could have had a solid career. Oh, well. More than enough talent to fill the space he was occupying. This. So much. He will probably moan about “ cancel culture”, but it’s just consequences. Plenty of talented, decent people in the world. I agree! And I don't get what the big deal is with "cancel culture". I have heard that term mentioned several times in the past few months. But how is that different than if you don't like things, you won't buy them? I mean, many people I know don't go to McDonald's because they don't like fast food, so what is the difference? I am probably not explaining what I am trying to say very well!

I am probably not explaining what I am trying to say very well! I think there’s a fine line between cancel culture and consequences have actions. In this particular case, I like what Mickey Guyton said. She doesn’t believe in cancel culture and thinks he should use this to learn/grow from. Some people think he should never be able to have any sort of comeback or forgiveness ever in life. That’s cancel culture. But people are bound to make mistakes in life or be ignorant about things in life. Do we just not forgive people for anything ever? Not them learn from their mistakes and become a better person? Brand them with a Scarlett letter and that’s it? I’ve no issues with him losing his record label deal and having his music not played right now, etc. That’s a consequence of his trash ass behavior. I just am not willing to say his career and life might as well be over for the next 50 years because he was stupid in his 20s if he was able to prove himself (eventually, via actions, not a written apology to TMZ) as actually being remorseful and having learned a lesson. Quite frankly though, with WME dropping him and his silence for the last few days, it would appear to me that he ISN’T ready to do the work.

I always believe in giving people 2nd chances. But this? this just seems like a train wreck, and it's fairly obvious he hasn't learned anything. I thought the whole dropping him from CMT, and the radio, was a huge step, and so fast! it makes me wonder if something has been brewing? I could see his label putting a halt on his contract. I get that part. A lot of people are saying he'll just sign with another label. I would think they have a solid contract with him that would prevent that. I think he needs to go away for like 5 yrs. Out of the spotlight, out of Nashville.

He's trash and a POS with a drinking problem. And he doesn't care to try to do better. Last week photos were going around with him covered in vomit, passed out on a couch. People were saying "we've all been there at one point." No, no we haven't.

I follow the 'news' group that posted it. I think they took it down. But man... 1. Go to rehab 2. Get better friends that wouldn't take that photo then leak it, sell it, whatever.

has he released a statement? Not that it matters, just curious. Never mind, just found it. It would have been nice if he said what steps he was taking to "do better". Empty words.

Just read an article that said his song sales quadrupled. Ugh. Not surprised. I have seen numerous people on FB talking about how he is getting the shaft, he was on his own property talking to friends and the person who filmed him should be sued for violation of privacy, etc., black people say things like that to each other, why haven't rappers been treated the way his for the things they say and sing. Once again, I am disgusted by people.

His statement to TMZ kind of sucked. I don't think he was expecting the backlash to the degree it came. But maybe he should look at Kyle Larson to see how it was going to go over. That said, I'd rather he have some time to figure out what steps he needs to do rather than just spew a bunch of BS to make people happy. Maybe (hopefully) he's doing things behind the scenes like Kyle did.

I don't like country music and hadn't heard of him before this. I'm sure his career will carry on in the hearts of all his Trump loving supporters.
I normally don't like when celebrities are called out harshly over silly or thoughtless young, immature things they said or did, like the treatment the Biebs or Brit got so often. But this asshole has showed who he is at his core, let's believe him. Trash.
