I still use my original AOL email for all of my personal things. I have a work email through Outlook that doesn't offer any more functionality than my trusty AOL. If someone wants to judge me, that's on them.

Yes. I use it when I'm forced to sign up for stuff I don't want, and I send all my junk mail there and never look at it - haha!

If someone wants to judge me, that's on them. AOL still uses their own servers and has an active web portal. You can still sign up for AOL. "Hotmail" is only a name now. You can't get a new Hotmail account, and behind the scene you are actually on Outlook. AOL was kind of fun back in the beginning. It was it's own private network, and there were groups that you could join. I made a lot of rubber stamping "friends" back then from the different craft groups.

I have hotmail, multiple gmail, yahoo, aol. I don't ever use the aol one anymore but it does still exist. LOL. Thankfully I have all my accounts in the mail on my iPad and phone. I could never keep track of all of them if I didn't!

I'm one of those who still uses AOL. The problem is that I have a lot of folders-such as vacations where I have confirmations of all of my hotels, flights, excursions, etc. So if someone says what was that great hotel you stayed at in such and such city in 2014, I can whip it out in no time. I've never been able to get a straight answer if I could move entire folders over to gmail, etc or if it would have to be one-by-one email??? And I remember back when it was found that Mike Pence had an AOL email. All the millenials and younger made fun of him. Not a political thing, it was just because he still used AOL. I have a gmail account but I don't use it much. I could have written this exact post.

I use yahoo and get crap all the time. I'm not switching. It's bad enough having to remember a gajillion passwords, my brain can't handle having to remember another email.

In my ebay days, scammers and spammers most often used Hotmail or Yahoo addresses so it still carries that connotation for me at first glance when i open my mail and see that. I just got a PayPal request from a Rocketmail address, and though it was legit, it felt a little off at first.

I have a hotmail and a yahoo (for yahoo sports stuff) account. The hotmail account is like a shopping/junk account and includes my handle in the name.
I have a gmail acct, bc I use @mail and everyone thought I forgot to add the g to my own stupid email account - that was for professional things, I though bridget@mail would be more professional than hotmail. So I quickly nabbed gmail too since I guess people thought I was too dumb to know my own email address and were sending to the wrong freaking address.
However, I am worried my gmail is getting full, I swear I have only 5g left - that seems like a lot but it's really not. and it's exhausting to clear out my gmail.

So if you don’t use hotmail, yahoo or aol what do people use? Is it all gmail? Gmail is at the top, but lot of people still use Yahoo and AOL. Others on the top list are Outlook, Zoho, and ProtonMail. I don’t know anything about Zoho and Proton.

My first email address was an MSN address that I still have. I don't have any important accounts attached to it now, but I still check it occassionally and find a notification from some website I had forgotten all about LOL.
DH still uses AOL as his primary account. Why not? I don't get the AOL hate.

So if you don’t use hotmail, yahoo or aol what do people use? Is it all gmail? I have switched everything to gmail, and I have multiple addresses to help keep my life sorted. Twinsmomrewards@gmail is the address I use for all those loyalty programs that want you to provide an address so they can send you "offers." Twinsmomretail@gmail is reserved for online shopping, including Amazon, Costco, Sam's Club, Kroger, etc. Twinsmomkids@gmail was the one I used when my kids were in school. I most recently used it for their college graduation photos when I ordered them from the vendor that took the pictures. I didn't want those adds cluttering my retail account since it was a one-off. While they were in school, I used it for teams, band, access to grades, etc. Twinsmomonline@gmail is the one I use for social media and websites. I don't think I ever updated 2peas, though, since I created that account many years ago under MSN.com. I rarely check that account anyway, so updates on threads I have bookmarked or responses to threads I created don't worry me. Twinsmomhousehold@gmail is reserved for important household correspondance and accounts--utilities, banking, insurance, taxes, financial accounts, etc. all have this as the primary email account. Firstname.lastname@gmail was created when I was looking for a job. I don't think it has ever been used for anything else. Twinsmomplussomenumbers@gmail is my spam account. When I have to provide an email address to get into a website but I don't want bothered by a thousand emails trying to sell me something, I will use this one, the MSN account, or the Yahoo account (created around the same time as MSN and I forgot to list in the other thread). While it sounds like a lot to keep track of, it really isn't bad. The Gmail app allows you to "pin" the accounts you want to receive notifications for, and right now, I only receive notifications for household. I got notifications for the kids account when they were in high school with schedule changes and permission slips that I needed to track.

I have my original Yahoo mail that I’ve had since 1995 - my brother and someone else recently was like “who has a Yahoo email these days??” Lol. I can beat that. I use an address that was bought out by Yahoo, but I did not have to change so I didn't. It is from about 1992, I think.

I really like the idea of having separate accounts for things. My yahoo mail is a mess even with all its folders as I get so much spam. Well most I keep in case I need a coupon. Part of me would like to start fresh.

Part of me would like to start fresh. We also did this recently. We set up a separate gmail account for financial stuff (banks, credit card, utilities). We don't give this address out to anyone, not even family. We then set up a separate gmail address for account recovery emails. So, we basically have three accounts - personal, financial, recovery.

I must admit it does give me pause when I receive an email from someone using a hotmail address. DSO had a hotmail address for a while, but what a PITA it was! For every legitimate email he received, he would have 99 spam or phishing emails in his inbox. I set him up with an email address through our ISP after that. I can understand why you don't want to change, it is a nuisance having to change everything over. I had to change everything over when we changed ISPs. I thought at the time that it would have been better to use gmail instead, so I could keep it forever. But it's too hard to find a decent name now. I would have to be Aussie_Meg654920347273486234362834234794652@gmail.com What's wrong with hotmail? It isn't out of date or anything - I still use it. My work blocks anything that comes through with a hotmail address, because it assumes it's spam or phishing.

We have a client who uses junk.mailerbox@generic free service provider as their personal email. I thought for sure the email address was wrong. Once we found out that was right I questioned the intelligence of this guy who's a lawyer.
