I guess my answer is a hybrid.
I don’t mind music intros
I do mind long music intros and then a long intro intro.
But mostly if I don’t like something a YouTuber does, but generally like their content, I’ll fast forward through the beginning.

I'm impatient. I watch at 1.5 or 1.75 depending on the content creator. If I need to I'll turn on captioning.
And I love chapters/time stamps.

I just made a very short (exactly 5 seconds) intro. for my newest video. It's a beach scene with beach sounds. It sets the mood for my videos because they are mostly jewelry making videos with beachy themes. No music, and no long introductory explanation. I checked it out. It's perfect! Thanks so much!

I have issues with that too…another issue…I completely understand that this is a ME issue…
I started a video the other day with what looked like a great layout….until she said Exspecially and Patterin paper. We are adults and it’s 2025…this is our NATIVE language…as least as far as I could tell it’s her native tongue. Is anyone else irrationally irritated by mispronounced words? ESPECIALLY easy and often used words?

My pet peeve is when the VOLUME LEVEL of the intro music is so much different than the rest of the video. The number of times my ears have been assaulted because I'm listening with my airpods in and have the volume cranked for a soft video, then BLAM! The intro plays. Pleeeeease level out the volume on your entire video!!

I do make exceptions for people who are not native English speakers, because I hope that native Spanish and Italian speakers do the same for me.

I know to whom you are referring. I’ve just gotten used to it. YouTube videos are created free of charge. I watch the ones I like and keep it moving.

I haven’t made a video in a hot minute but this is good to know!!I think we all sound like an impatient bunch. Haha. Maybe because we scrap a lot or want to get ideas quickly, we seem to want similar things. But I also think there are a lot of people out there who might be much more into chatty presenters or love the music, the fluff, the apologies etc. I was kind of shocked at the fan base of a recently "retired" scrapper. They needed her. They loved her. They lived for her to put out content each day and considered her part of their mornings. While I do love certain presenters as well, people have to take care of their mental health and family as well. They did not let her go quietly into the sunset. All that to say that I think you should be yourself and do what sits well with you. If you are chatty, be chatty. If you want an intro to kind of remind people who you are or what channel they are watching, do that. I watch different creators and whether they chat, have a snoring dog in the background, or just use papers I love, I'll watch them if I need entertainment that day, need fresh ideas, or whatever. Let us know if you make a new video. I do like to support the Peas. Aww, thank you, Nancy!!

I miss the days of step-out photos and a good list of steps.
I tried to watch the craftroom tour posted on another thread to see if things have changed. I couldn't do it. It was thorough and I assume thoughtfully planned but I still dont know why I'd watch that. Nothing against the creator.
ETA because that sounds harsh, do you use these for background noise? Treadmill watching? Help me understand.

I don’t want to watch other people organize or talk about organizing. But I understand that organizing doesn’t come easily to everyone so they want inspiration from others. Also, home decor, specifically craft room decor, is an inspiring and fun part of the hobby for some.

The word mispronunciation won't necessarily bother me. I have lived in a lot of different states, and pronunciation can be severely ingrained in certain regions. It's no different than regional accent to me.
I don't watch intros, I double tap to get to the good stuff. I do notice with creators I've been following for a while, I've been muting the sound. Most people say the same thing in each video. I don't require narration of what I can see you doing. New to me creators I am listening for something I may not know.

It's no different than regional accent to me. As someone who moved quite a bit I appreciate this being said. It's taken me awhile to get back to the thread. I've been away and unable to post, even when I had a chance to read. I've been in the same place for several decades now and still fall back on a pronunciation from other states with some little used words. I have a friend who's lived in the same place most of her sixty something years. She corrects my pronunciation as if I am a toddler - every single time. The petty side of me would love to point out she's the ignorant, less knowledgeable one. Sorry for the hijack and thanks for a moment to vent. ![]()

ESPECIALLY easy and often used words? Word pronunciations can vary wildly even across relatively small stretches of space in the US. In 2025 we all have so many more ways to hear the speech patterns, accents, and regional dialects of different places that you're bound to hear things that sound different from what you're used to hearing. I mean off the top of my head, try asking people across the US how they say any of the following easy and often used words: Pecan Wash Water Creek Internet Park New York You're going to get all different answers. Heck, we don't always even use the same words to mean the same things from one place to another. Hoagie/sub/grinder/gyro? Soda/pop/coke? I watch a couple on YouTube who live a few states south of me and it always amazes me that even the places in which they put the accent on multi-syllable words is different from how I learned to say those same words. In some cases the difference is slight, but in others it makes the word sound very, very different. ![]()

I’m irritated by many who don’t pronounce the letter L correctly or at all. But exspecially? Patterin? Those are just wrong in any region. But honestly…it’s the letter L that gets under my skin the most.

Admittedly I can't unhear Ali Edwards saying "al-blum" in every video she makes and, even as a bit of a fangirl, it drives me up the wall. hahaha

I’ve heard expecially but not patterin. That’s a new one at least for me. I don’t think anyone I watch says that and I want to know who it is.
The pronunciation discussion reminds me of Janet saying yella.
ETA I do enjoy when Aussie scrappers say patton paipuh.

2 things irrationally irritate me- huge false eyelashes that look like caterpillars and brightly coloured painted fingernails, especially if they are pointy and so long that the person has to use their hands weirdly to accomodate the length .

I cannot say the words pattern or modern for the life of me. I don't know what it is. I avoid those words like the plague.
Anyways, I already commented on what bugs me.. like long intros, long songs, introductions, pets, kids.. all that.. but another thing that gets me and I probably won't watch is
the long pointy fingernails with lots of stuff on them. Lots of hand tattoos (not just one or two, but there are some their whole hands are full of tattoos and I can't concentrate). Dirty fingernails. I get so distracted that I am not watching the videos.
