Lately I have been inspired to use vertical 4x6 photos, but putting them on the page/page design has me running into a few road blocks, even when I go looking online it seems like most of the designs are horizontal photos or multiple photos with the vertical one.
Is there a particular size photo that you find challenging?

I find it hard to scrap 4x6's when I have 1 that's vertical & 1 that's horizontal. That's when I rely on a sketch by Susan Stringfellow! She's awesome when it comes to different sizes together. Actually, I think she's just awesome period!!

I'm having a hard time scrapping anything bigger than a 4x4 right now.

I struggle with 8x10s - probably because I scrap 8.5x11 layouts and once I put the photo on...there's no real estate left.
I do find odd numbers of photos easier to scrap than even (the exception being 4...if I can cut them into equal squares)

I'm the opposite - I struggle with horizontal photos...lol I take way more vertical photos than horizontal ones so maybe it's just how my brain works... I usually do 8x8 layouts so I work with 3x4 photos... I don't mind using multiple photos on a layout, but if they're small (like 2x2), I start feeling anxious - like there's too much going on all over... If I use multiple photos, I print them as big as I can and still fit them into my design...

I'm solely a scraplifter, so I page thru all my books looking for a layout that will work w/the size & orientation of the photos I have. It never fails, when I've got vertical photos, every layout I see has horizontal. And when I've got horizontal . . .

If anyone else is interested in Susan Stringfellows stetches: sketchsavvy.blogspot.com/I have a trip to scrap and I find my favorite pages are the ones with 1 5x7. I'm considering making this one with nothing else. It will be hard. Not sure I can leave all those little incidental photos out. Maybe I'll try putting them in the back of the book with all the journaling.

I don't struggle with a certain size but with using 2 pictures or more than 5 pictures on a page. I either have too much empty space or not enough.
I'm currently working on a (rare for me) two page layout with a 5 by 7 and 4 smaller photos and I can't fit everything in... you would think a 2 page layout would have plenty of room.

I find myself picking my favourite photo or two for 12x12 layouts and then i put the incidental photos into divided protectors with my journaling. I find the little incidental photos are things we often end up laughing over and they often really help to tell the story.

I struggle with really tiny photos - smaller than 2x3. I scrap 8.5x11 mostly, so I have been printing my pics as 2 pics on 1 4x6 to avoid using so many pages for one event. But if I have something smaller than that, like a school pic for example, it just seems to get lost on the page and I don't know where to put it. So it gets kind of stuck on - maybe on a tag or something.
I also struggle with 8x10 for the same reason as above - I scrap 8.5 x 11 and there is no room to do anything, although I usually think of something....

I would love to give them a try, but don't even know where to get them done. Wish Snapfish did it. Funny you should mention school pics. When I'm ordering, I always plan on 1 5x7 for each of the grandfathers. Since they come 2 to a sheet, I am conveniently left with one, which I scrap. Is that an option for you? Of course, this is going on the premise that I'm going to frame the 8x10s, which I never do. Guess I should start scrapping them instead, lol.

I use Picasa (free download) and go to create, choose picture collage, then choose 4x6. Then I drag 2 photos over to it. Sometimes I have to edit the photo a bit to make sure the image is all on there. I've gotten where it takes no time at all. Then I upload them to where ever I'm getting my photos printed. I cut them apart when I get them. It does have a slight learning curve but once you play around a little bit it is easy. I have on occasion printed 3 or 4 on one 4x6 if I had a whole lot of photos I wanted to use and nothing was lost by decreasing the size. I did this for example when I had a bunch of animal pics from the zoo and just wanted to use the pics as little accents.

I can't seem to get it to balance out against a suitable sized title, journaling and embellies combo, I guess mainly because I like edge-to-edge scrapping and don't work with a lot of white space on my pages
