This may be a bit left field, but I recently found my hobby colliding with my work. I've posted on my blog about how I helped out with some film stuff. I just wondered for those of us not lucky enough to work in the craft industry have you ended up using crafty skills for something other than your hobby at any point?

For sure. I've had my Cameo at work before many times! I love it when that happens. I feel like I'm getting paid to have fun lol.

Always! I'm the librarian at my school and I run a Makerspace option class as well. I even bought an extra Cameo for our space so I don't have to use my own. Bulletin boards, signs, Grad stuff, I do a ton!

for many years my Cricut was used more for Girl Scouts than it was for scrapbooking. I'm less involved with GS now so it's more of a scrapbooking tool now

I used to be an activities director at an assisted living center. I made names on the doors for new residents, big wall calendars for both buildings, quite a few crafty projects with the residents, cards to troops, name places in the dining areas, and themed days were always fun! I added a lot of my scrappy stuff to the job.

I talked our print shop into buying a silhouette at work. We contracted out stuff that could have been done in-house.

When I worked on a long term care spinal cord unit I made a scrapbook of the various activities offered so new admissions could see what is offered. Later I helped several residents start their own scrapbooks.

As a teacher with a Cricut and Silhouette, I had the best bulletin boards and my last year I made all of my kids a scrapbook of the year.

I too used my cameo for Girl Scouts. I also cut vinyl and make display items for DDs job.

I work as a paralegal in a law firm. I'm a digital scrapbooker and use my photoshop skills to help crop and enlarge trial exhibits. I've also taken pictures of client injuries. I also help design our law firm Christmas card every year.

I turned our office graduate assistants loose with my Crichton’s Explore and a bunch of cartridges. They used 50 States to make a map of the US—two copies of each state, one blue and one gold. They made a bulletin board with the states, and now they change out the state when we admit a student from that state so we have a map of where everyone is from. They used my laminator on them So we don’t have to keep making new states.
They have had a ball making all kinds of crafty things for the recruiters—even handmade thank you cards. One GA liked it so much she bought one of the new Cricuts. She is going to be her sister’s maid-of-honor and is excited to use it for wedding stuff.

Well, we scrapbook in class with our kids (they make an album to take home at the end of the year) and then I have a “scrapbook club” once a week after school. So, I don’t know that my talent gets used too much, but my extra supplies sure do! I do get called on to make the signs and random bulletin board display at times though and my weekly activity list is always extra decorated since I can draw simple pictures if I can copy from a book. My co teacher can’t or won’t draw, so I am the only one who illustrates our weekly signs.
I love that the kids get very excited about scrapbooking, both in class and on Tuesday afternoons. I get asked a lot in the hallway at school if today is .tuesday, and when I answer yes it is super sweet to hear a happy squeal or see the big smile on their faces!

My boss was officiating a wedding and wanted something to hold the service he wrote in. I used a Tim Holtz Folio and a Graphic 45 collection to make a full out folio with pockets and such. It was able to hold their marriage certificate, the vows that they wrote to each other and letters that they wrote to open on their first anniversary. I had no idea that they'd have all that stuff, so it is one time I'm glad I went overboard.
