If you want a compact SUV, I have a VW Tiguan that I love. Small yet roomy. Drives smooth, like a car. Great gas mileage.

I drive an Acura MDX and love it. One of my favorite things is how high up you ride. When I have to rent a car on vacation or for work, I hate being so low to the ground.
Other than that...I like the space, the color (white with tan interior) and just in general how well it drives and rides. I imagine when it's time to replace it, I'll get another.

I like my Subaru Outback. DH drives it more than I do because I love my old Ford Escape. She probably only has a few more good years in her and I want to enjoy every bit of it as I can. She’s 17 years old this month.
My favorite feature of the Outback is the heated seats. The sound system sucks, which truly does matter to me.

Heated seats and a backup camera. Doesn’t matter what kind of vehicle ... I want those in every vehicle I own from now on 😁 Wait until you get a heated steering wheel. That will be added to the list. I didn't think I would ever use it until I did this morning. Now I can't imagine going back.

Do any of you regret going from a SUV to a sedan? I haven't gone from an SUV to a sedan but, DH drives a Mercedes which is a nice car but I hate driving or riding in it for any length of time. The seats in an SUV are more like a chair ~ does that make sense? ~ which is great for my back. Driving in a sedan, my legs are more straight out which is terrible on my back. JMHO ~ but you asked. That is why I traded my Chevy Malibu for a Ford Edge. I could barely walk by the time I got to work after a 25 mile commute in my sedan. I love my Ford Edge. My DD, my sister-in-law, my sister, and my nephew all have them, too.

Love my Audi Q5. Heated seats, backup camera, sky roof, fab sound system, very comfy seats with plenty of legroom. Drives like a dream. And has all-wheel drive, which is a requirement for my driveway in the winter.

Love my Subaru Forester! all wheel drive, lots of safety features, it's a beautiful blue color with a moon roof! Great gas mileage too!

I am in the Subaru camp, we have an Outback and a Forester. We both prefer to drive the Forester, but the Outback is more comfortable for longer trips and has more cargo room.
A minor thing (dh insisted on getting and at the time I didn’t have a strong opinion on) is lights on my side mirrors that illuminate the sides of my car when I remote unlock it. No more walking up to a dark car at night.

I had never had that fun feature before my Pathfinder. Amazing. And cooled seats. Makes a world of difference with leather seats in the summer. In addition to the backup camera, the around view camera is life changing.

Another one for Subaru. We have had several over the years. I currently drive a 2019 Crosstrek and I love it! I've had it about a year and I don't see me getting rid of it for a long time. It's perfect for me and the AWD is definitely a selling point. I live in the south so we don't get much snow at all but we get some pretty bad rain. I've had other AWD vehicles but none compare to the Subaru. Have fun and can't wait to see what you pick!

I have a Nissan Rogue and like it a lot. Even my nephew - who runs a GM and Mazda car dealership and says he’s never liked Nissans - has driven it enough to say he really likes it.

We have an Audi S5 (i think it's a 2016) and a 2019 Tucson. The Audi is fun to drive, but i think it's a PITA to get in and out of. This is my 2nd Tucson and I love this one. It's the Ultimate package with AWD. It has everything you could ever want in a car. With all the features, it can practically drive itself. It is a small SUV though. My 100lb dog can fit in the cargo area, but for longer drives, i put the seats down so he can spread out.

I had a 2012 GMC Acadia and LOVED IT. Then when my lease was up, they had changed the style and size of them and I did not care for it. So I got a GMC Terrain (the old style square one) and it was very nice. That lease was just up and I searched and searched for 5 months. Finally got .... you won't believe it... a Cadillac XT5. The lease is only $25 a month more than my Terrain was and this car is loaded. And it is SOOOO easy to drive and comfortable! We have taken it on a few trips already and it is GREAT. I love my car again!!

When you buy your car go to Costco. It'll make the entire purchase easy and you'll get a great deal.
I'm sorry that had such a sad accident. Take it easy for a couple days.

I have a Honda Odyssey and once fit 22 dogs in it for a transport. That’s my standard- how many dogs fit?
Two thumbs up for the Odyssey, and if you want to run transports let me know, I’ll hook you up. Best feeling!

So sorry about the deer incident.
Let me just say one more vote for Subaru. I have a 2019 Forester Sport and ODS has a 2018 Outback. I would buy either again in a heartbeat. I wanted a moonroof, heated seats, back-up camera and a serious sound system. I got it all! My seats are fabric/leather and ODS is all leather. I have dogs in and out of mine so the fabric is good to me. Oh and the gas mileage is out of this world. I have a 6 hour drive to get to my DD in Birmingham. I can fill up before I leave and not have to stop for gas on the way.
And then add all of the above plus comments upthread on Subarus!

And one more vote for Subaru! I have a 2018 Crosstrek - my first Subaru - and I love it. Great gas mileage, very comfortable, sporty, dependable and reliable.

I just got a new Honda CRV, downsizing from a Honda Pilot. I love the CRV! It's the one that can basically drive itself, but I'm too chicken to use that feature! It's a comfortable car to drive and I'm glad to have made the change.

I drive a Buick Encore, nicely loaded. It is comfortable, easy to drive, gets decent gas mileage, fits so nicely in almost any parking space, and reasonably priced. Good luck in your search!

I have a fully loaded 2012 Charger SXT. I ADORE my car. Heated seats both front and back, leather seats, heated and cooled cup holders on the front, HUGE trunk, sun roof, heated side mirrors, ummmm... have I said that I love my car? I’m sure there are other things I love about it but I’ve forgotten them because I just love my car. I hit a deer last year and did $7k in damage to the front of it. I was totally fine. Car is repaired and perfect. While it was in the shop, I drove a Toyota Corolla. OMG! SO TINY! I felt like I was driving a tin can! We also have a 2005 Toyota Sequoia Limited. It’s a beast. Heated front seats, sun roof, all leather. I used to LOVE driving it.... until I got my Charger! When we were looking for my car, it was down to a Subaru Outback and the Dodge Charger. The Charger won out because it’s more of a “car” than an SUV. I have never once regretted it.

I have a 20 year old Honda Civic LX that I adore I love it so much I don't want a new car. I got it brand new and it has about 120,000 miles on it. Yeah, I don't drive a lot. When we bought it I made sure it was made in Japan. That was important to me. I've taken excellent care of it and expect it to last several more years. I love it because of the way it drives. It's a manual (which I prefer and is getting almost impossible to find these days) and it has wishbone suspension so it takes the corners like a race car. In 20 years it's only left me stuck once and that was at a gas station near home. I forgot what the problem was but it was an easy fix. Hondas just keep going and going. I know you are looking for something much larger with more cargo space than a Honda Civic obviously, but I thought I'd give you my history with my car. I think if you are looking for a new vehicle Honda's and Toyota's have the best track record.

Getting an SUV doesn't mean it can't be fun. Look at a Porsche Macan or Cayenne. The Macan is quite a bit cheaper and smaller but both are tons of fun--sporty, tons of pickup, you name it.

I have gone from an SUV to a sedan and quickly went back to a SUV. I currently have a 2017 Toyota RAV4. I like the car but it has a scary blind spot in the front that has caused me some angst. My lease is up in April and I am either going to buy it (I only have 20,000 miles) or my next choice would be the Subaru Crosstrek.
I have hit deer and it is so frustrating. Just remember, if you see one deer, there are likely more to come. Good luck with your car search.
