Joe Biden was the one responsible for picking what dates the gas reserves were to be released in Ukraine. Rep Mike Rodgers (R-LA) is the one talking oops!!

I guess as with anything, I want to know what the distinction between "who can afford it" and "who can't" is. Probably would end up being another situation where the middle class gets screwed. That’s exactly what I was thinking. Looking at our income and number of people in our household, DH and I are considered comparitively wealthy. But our medical costs completely tank that. If we had a child to put through college I feel like we would be screwed, or have to take on tons of loans if they didn’t get any scholarships. Barring catostrophic medical expenses, I have no problem with the obviously super wealthy not getting their children’s higher education paid for, but I have concerns about the rest of it. As with almost anything, I don’t think the idea should be completely tanked because I don’t agree with all of it. It’s frustrating for me when someone presents an idea and because it is not a complete (almost perfect) solution it is dismissed out of hand. The homeless situation is an example. I remember reading what I considered some pretty good ideas that would address a decent part of the population, but they were dismissed because they didn’t address everything. . I don’t mind some of these “pie in the sky” propositions because it isn’t expected that everything would be implemented and paid for all at once. But rather, it’s an ideal we strive meet to the best of our abilities (and budget) in layers. Of course there will always need to be modifications once things are implemented, and as needs change in the future. One of the reasons given by Obama voters who voted for trump was Obama didn’t deliver on what he promised. They felt 4 years with Hillary would be more of the same. In 2016, I think it was 46.9% of registered voters didn’t bother to show up at the ballot box. Another 4% voted for a third party candidate in a two candidate race. That is 50% of registered voters did not vote for one of the two candidates that would become president. 50%. Taking into consideration the reasons given by some of the Obama voters who voted for trump, it’s logical to believe that a chunk of those who didn’t show up in 2016 are tired of empty promises made by politicians. That they didn’t deliver. Why is this important? As a reminder, trump won three states by a total margin of roughly 75,000 split between these three states. The reality is, even if the Democrats somehow manage to get a Democratic President and a super majority in the House and Senate, a lot of what is being promised by Warren & Sanders won’t happen. One of disappointments I have had with this primary “season” is Warren and Sanders sucking all the air out of the arena ,for lack of a better word, with promises of free stuff. Who doesn’t like free stuff? I mean really. Because of that potentially good candidates had to drop out. There has been no real debate between the merits of the very progressive agenda and the moderate agenda. Biden is an idiot, Mayor Pete keeps getting sidelined for silly things like wine caves, and for whatever reason Amy Klobuchar can’t seem to find her voice. The debates themselves are a joke because anytime you only have 90 seconds to answer a question, or there are 10 people on the stage, or a in a single debate there are a wide range of questions, there is no real debate. Especially when two are offering free stuff. Someone suggested to the DNC they have “topic” debates. That got a big no. How dumb was that? Health care, climate change, jobs/affordable housing, infrastructure, education, and foreign policy are all very important topics that deserve answers from candidates of longer than 90 seconds. Single topic debates would have generated real debates among the candidates about the individual policies instead of 90 second sound bites. IMO the top three, Biden, Warren, Sanders, are the worst three to be sitting on top right now. Based on who is left and who dropped out, we could do so much better than these 3. With these 3 we will be lucky if we get trump out never mind keeping the majority in the House and getting the majority in the Senate. This is probably more than you wanted to “hear”. 😀

Pompeo blew off Congress today. We are losing our country piece by piece. ** Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is receiving heat after the State Department stood-up Congress one day after damning text messages showed associates of Rudy Giuliani targeted an American ambassador, according to a new report.“The State Department abruptly canceled a classified congressional briefing Wednesday that was supposed to focus on embassy security, a House aide said, infuriating Capitol Hill staffers seeking answers on alleged Iranian threats to U.S. missions overseas,” Politico reported Wednesday. ** “Staff are furious,” the aide said. “This briefing is required by law every month, and today’s was the most important we’ve had scheduled in a long time. The State Department has given us no explanation whatsoever.”** www.rawstory.com/2020/01/capitol-hill-is-furious-after-trumps-state-department-abruptly-cancelled-briefing-required-by-law/?utm_source=&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=3489&recip_id=304309&list_id=1

Yes, why is he so calm? I understand that he is determined to speak out, and to be effective he must be calm and clear, but still... I mean, I'd be scared to be out there sharing these documents and saying these things. Excellent command of English! I sure would be scared, but SDNY has all the info. I do believe he is telling the truth.

More on Mr Hyde!! There is a video in the article with him introducing a Chinese National, big donor too, to dt at Mar-A-Lago A New Figure in the Ukraine Scandal Worked for a Mysterious Chinese Trump DonorRobert Hyde introduced this donor to Trump at Mar-a-Lago. David Corn Jan 15, 2020 ** Since Donald Trump’s election, Robert F. Hyde, a former landscape company owner and the latest oddball figure to enter the Trump-Ukraine scandal, has attempted to ride the Trump presidency into a new career as a lobbyist, public affairs operative, and all-around GOP player. A Marine veteran and Trump mega-fan who is currently running for Congress in Connecticut, he has donated tens of thousands of dollars to Trump and a bevy of Republican candidates and entities. His largesse has earned him invites to the White House (for a bowling night) and exclusive Republican events. A fixture at Trump’s Washington, DC, hotel and Mar-a-Lago club, Hyde has collected and posted scores of photos of himself mingling with Republican luminaries, including Trump and his adult children, as well as Vice President Mike Pence, Sen. Ted Cruz, Rep. Matt Gaetz, and many others. Hyde, now 40, remained mostly a wannabe, though he managed to hook up with Lev Parnas, the now-indicted associate of Rudy Giuliani, and apparently tried to become part of the Giuliani operation in Ukraine that targeted US Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, as it sought dirt on Joe Biden to help Trump. But as Hyde endeavored to leverage his political contributions into access and influence without great success, there was one real connection Hyde did make—and it was with a mysterious Chinese immigrant named Cheng Gao who donated almost a quarter of a million dollars to Trump and the GOP and who also sought a place in Trumpworld. Last March, Mother Jones revealed Gao’s curious backstory. Gao, who contributed $237,000 to the Trump campaign and other Republican groups, attended an inaugural dinner for Trump in January 2017. He has identified himself as a “Buddhist artist” who lives in New York City. But Gao only recently relocated to the United States from China, and he and and his wife, Qingqing Qiu, moved into an apartment in Trump Tower several months after Trump entered the White House. It is unclear how Gao amassed his wealth. Several businesses linked to Gao and Qiu showed little sign of activity. ** We asked Hyde about his connection to Gao, and if he knew anything about Gao’s contributions to Trump and the GOP. Hyde insisted that he barely knew Gao and possessed no information about him. He claimed he had merely once shared a car with Gao on a ride to Mar-a-Lago. Yet on a financial disclosure form Hyde filed last year in connection with his long-shot congressional bid, Hyde noted that he has been a public relations consultant for Gao. And a former business associate of Hyde tells Mother Jones that Hyde met Gao at a Trump fundraiser in New York City during the campaign. So it appears that Hyde, for some reason, was concealing his relationship with Gao. (Hyde did not respond to a Mother Jones interview request on Tuesday.) But in November, Hyde told the world about his tie to Gao. Hyde posted a video on his Twitter feed showing how in April 2019 he managed to introduce Gao to Trump at Mar-a-Lago, noting that Gao had become a member at the club under Hyde’s sponsorship. In the clip, Hyde orchestrates a handshake between Gao and Trump. ** www.motherjones.com/politics/2020/01/new-figure-in-ukraine-scandal-worked-for-a-mysterious-chinese-trump-donor/

Call me crazy, but with tensions what they are in the Middle East, Morocco while not at the center of the quagmire, they do weigh in at times, but you would want to send someone with at least some experience.. Not to mention, that Morocco has it's own issues with the Western Sahara.
What I am hearing from a friend that works there that has knowledge of the incoming guy....this is their first trip to Morocco.
Seriously W.T.F.!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will this person testify under oath? Others have said it even one of the ones in the emails from OMB(?) etc. ETA: GAO non-partisian: Budget office violated law in withholding Ukraine Aid. Eight page decision. Unfortunately, after the report is filed there is no penalty from DOJ! ETA2: CNN: it was Mark Sandy from OMB who questioned the legality and has since left.

”The reason for this impeachment is the same reason it has taken Democrats 30 days to send the articles to the Senate—SPITE. They want to stain President Trump’s record without giving him a fair chance to clear his name.”
As much as Maine needs to dump Susan Collins, California needs to get rid of this guy.
The only person standing in trump’s way of “giving him a fair chance of clearing his name” is trump.

IF his name can be cleared, then why will he not allow those closest to him to testify? If his name could be cleared, then one would logically think that he would want every single one of them to testify and clear his name. If I was accused of something I didn't do, I would want everyone who knew I didn't do it to testify for my defense.

Or until Trump starts throwing THEM under the bus. I doubt even that would wake them up. I don't know how any person who is a part of this can continue to say it is a hoax. It is mindboggling.
