I'm going to tackle the last remnants of Christmas shopping this morning. I never shop after Thanksgiving, but I need to do so. It'll be a fast shop and then back home. Dinner will be chicken picatta, rice pilaf and mixed veggies. Thank you for the veggies Trader Joes.
What's on your menu?
This season holds a lot of emotion, both joy and sorrow for many people. So, feel free to share your sadness. Don't feel like you have to be festive on the thread if the truth is that you can't wait for it to be over. Whatever you feel is appropriate and normal. We're a tribe and tribes surround eachother w/support and ((((HUGS)))).
.
If Santa were to sit you in his lap, aside from the lawsuits and jail time for Santa, what would you ask for? This is total fluff. World peace, good health, great job is a given. This is about material and mundane stuff. This year I'm asking for the fitbit hr as my big gift. It's for monitoring heart rate and sleep. A real fitbit would just make me feel bad. If I could ask for anything, I would ask for a cruise w/dh. I love experiences vs. stuff. So, our big gift to eachother will likely be a musical or concert. My fitbit is a big ask for me.

My dinner tonight will be one of the packets of leftovers in the fridge, probably the spaghetti squash.
Today was a really good day at school - the rules our new carer has implemented are beginning to bear fruit. I am still really tired and glad I am only doing two days this week.
DH and I have decided against gifts for each other this year, but we have ordered a new bed which will hopefully be here before Christmas. If I could wish for anything, it would be to spend Christmas with both my boys, my DiL and my granddaughter.

sueg, Glad to hear that things are looking up at school. It must be so hard to be away from your children and little Sophia this time of year. ((((HUGS)))).

We are having shepherds pie that I made yesterday and just have to warm up so super quick and easy
From the department of totally mundane LOL... I was in Marks Work Wearhouse with DH on Saturday as he was getting some work clothes and I felt these SUPER soft but not to heavy pj's that I would love. I am not sure if DH caught my hint or not. We shall see. We are going to Cuba in February otherwise I would have asked for a trip to Vegas for DH and . I think that will be next years gift.

psiluvu, I have a friend who worked for airlines for years. He traveled all over the world, but one of his favorite trips was his trip to Cuba. He said the island is beautiful, the food is delicious and the people were so welcoming and warm. You have something to look forward to, indeed.

My Christmas photo cards will be ready this morning at Costco so I'll go pick them up as well as run a few errands. I need to go to the gym too because I slacked off because of the rain.
Pot roast for dinner with potatoes, carrots, onions and a green salad for me.

I am having trouble sleeping. I cut back on what I was using and replaced it with Seroquel which is strong. Now I cry every couple of hours. I assure you there is nothing wrong with me.
Tonight’s dinner will change obviously. I will keep my expectations low and suggest ramen noodles then anything will be better right?

In the mundane category, all I want for Christmas is for my son to hang some pictures and curtain rods in our bedroom that he's been saying he'll do for months! It requires some drilling and such that DH isn't quite able to handle anymore and I'm no better! lol
We're having leftover stir-fried shrimp, chicken, veggies, and rice from our Saturday birthday celebration.

Delta Dawn please call your doc. I've been worried about you now for some time. I think it's time for a reevaluation. I want you to get help, honey. Rest. I want all the yarn. That's right all the yarn. I want a whole wall of cubbies in my pending craft room to display all the yarn. Because scrapbook products aren't pretty. I want to hide those. But yarn is beautiful and I want to display it. And tonight will be potato soup. Perfect cold, rainy weather (well it's not too cold) food. I started the last round on my blanket last night. Thank goodness for the kindness of Elaine. There was a stitch I couldn't make heads or tails of but she explained it to me and I am happily on my way to finishing.

I am doing another crockpot meal for dinner tonight. Chicken, cream of broccoli soup, broccoli, cauliflour, carrots and rice. It's so nice getting to know all of you on this thread! I don't know why I waited so long to join. This is such a fun group, reminds me of the old board and The Pub! There was a daily thread that a group of us checked in on and it was so much fun.
I would love a new vacuum or steam mop for Christmas! That's all I can think of at the moment. I'm weird, but I love cleaning supplies!

Oh, jeremysgirl, the yarn is mine! Alllll miiiineee!! I love, not just looking at it, but touching it, petting it, sniffing it.... sigh! The addiction is real! Dinner? Smoked salmon with garlic and zucchini, mostly because I’m on a mission to empty the freezer.

I can have all the US yarn and you can have yarn for all of Europe minus Stylecraft Special DK because I can't find any US companies that sell it.

We are far superior to the Pub as there is no competition here....well, except scrapmaven thrown down to make the best pie crusts.

We have so much food in the fridge right now that we will be having leftovers for a few days - maybe all week since it’s just Dh and I. We have taco soup, pot roast with potatoes and carrots, chicken wings, taco meat... This year I already know my gifts from Dh - he just got me a nespresso machine as an early gift and yesterday told me to order the spin bike I wanted from amazon since there were only 3 left and it was a sale. I told him it should be my gift instead of just “getting it.” I am planning to use the peloton app with it. I’m super excited. This has been a big transformation year for me with health and fitness and I’m looking forward to another way to exercise. With my girls I asked for some smaller things so I’ll still be getting some surprises and I’m sure Dh will grab me something small, too.

I actually love cleaning supplies, too, so I feel you! Lol. I’m glad I joined in as well. It’s nice being a little more connected. Can you guys remind me how to tag? I thought it was a @ in front of the name but it doesn’t seem to work - is there a trick? I remember something about it not working if it’s not their real name...

I made a broccoli quiche and we have a few pieces of rechauffe shrimp.
I am having an eye exam today because my lenses are not strong enough on the bottom. They aren’t but 2 years old 🤨. After the exam, I have to go to get a new battery for my phone. It’s a busy day for me.
We are also doing a bit of decorating. Just the mantle. We’ll be with dd and fiancé for Christmas, but we decided to get into the holiday spirit here at home, too.
Thanks for the thread.

I made stuffed peppers Saturday, so I'm going to use the left over stuffing for burritos. We have a variety of leftover slaws, and I can make a green salad if that is desired.

Dinner is linguine with a lemon artichoke sauce and sauted asparagus, kale and broccoli. I'll pull out grilled chicken from the freezer for the kids. No one answered my request for cookie suggestions yesterday so I'm taking a day off from Christmas prep. I think DD is planning to bake with me tomorrow so hopefully we have the ingredients. The sleep and heart rate tracking are my favorite features of the Fitbit, scrapmaven. My fantasy gift would be a European riverboat cruise with DH. Honestly, any vacation with DH is a treat.

Let’s discuss condiments shall we? There is no room in my fridge for food at this point. There are so many Costco sized jars of whatever there is no room for chicken, or other protein. I am not sure how to tackle this. That said all the Japanese condiments stay. The two large jars of Dijon mustard have to be dealt with. Two people don’t need Costco sized anything!

Hi I need to recreate a recipe. It was a paprika and vermouth sauce. It had flour and butter and you cover chicken thighs in it and bake at 325°. I don’t know how much of anything to make. The two people who knew the recipe are either dead or have brain trauma (very sad). Can someone suggest something here? Maybe a 1/4 c butter melted flour to make a roux, vermouth and paprika and coat the chicken pieces one by one? It is delicious.
ETA forget this he wants to buy wings.

I am making white chicken chili and maybe corn bread, but I doubt it!
I finally tackled that damn Christmas tree and got it mostly finished. The hubs came in and commented on how nice it looked. I think he was trying to give me brownie point because he knew how much I didn't want to do it!
My dream gift would be a new stove. Not because there is anything wrong with my current one it just doesn't match my other appliances.
