The funniest thing to me was I saw the thread: "Whatever happened to colored toilet paper" and thought "that has to be Sharlag" and it was - she has not changed one bit! The date that came up for me had you as one of the top ten posters!Threads included peeing on toilet seat and calling co-worker out. Big brother thread Non Disney holiday Breast cancer

The youth I wasted. *sigh* I could have been out getting drunk 🥴 and instead I spent hours upon hours chatting with women who, turns out, have very little in common with me.
My liver thanks yall I suppose hahah! Even scrolling through the threads I could remember the “outcomes” or most vocal responses....that’s how much time I spent here! What a trip with the decade wrapping up! A diary of sorts.
When I joined 2peas I was married to a white man! It cracks me up when someone says something racist or talks out of turn only to reveal that they’ve dated a black guy so 1. They can’t be racist 2. They know all about black issues so I don’t think I’ve ever brought that up when someone accuses me of being a bitter black woman haha.
Imagine 10 years from now checking the way back machine and seeing the social commentary from say 2016-2019. Could you still stand behind everything you’ve said?

The YaYa thing--there was a site where you'd enter your name and it would give you yours. This was way before Facebook quizzes made that sort of thing mainstream, so everyone went crazy doing it.

I sure talked a lot back then. Not only 1 thread started by me on the first page, but 2. My kids were young then and DH traveled a lot. 2ps was my sanity saver.

From time to time I wonder how Sue/Kolkamtay is these days - I think of her every time we see a Star Wars film with Hayden Christensen.

I never realize how many peas are no longer with us (gone due to death or just have moved on) until I read through old posts like that. It makes you wonder what happened to sooooo many people.
I do miss the speed at which the board moved back then and the huge variety of topics discussed. I don't miss a lot of the ugliness and the pile-ons. I'm glad we are a kinder, gentler place now.

I was 6 months pregnant with my son in June 2004. Wow, how time flies! I'm sure that I was on the board back then, but I don't think I was very active. I've opened a couple of threads that I think I'd have been likely to post on, but so far nothing from me. (I was sure I'd have posted on the coloured toilet paper thread, to mention the hideous bright green toilet paper that my mum used to buy circa 1982.) TFS The Great Carpezio!

Anyone who forgot how conservative the board was should check out some of those threads. Wow. So true. As a Jewish Democrat I felt like an outsider. That said, I really wish that we had more conservative women here now. I miss hearing from those with differing opinions and beliefs.

Wow! Look how many posts there were in such a short time frame! I was a lurker back then! I have really noticed how slowly the board moves now. I wish we had more activity. I have also noticed that our lives have changed so much. I don't even remember the last time someone posted about being pregnant or baby related threads, unless it was in relation to a grandchild. It looks like I joined 2peas in April of 2004 but I think it took awhile before I ventured over to the NSBR.

Anyone who forgot how conservative the board was should check out some of those threads. Wow. No SHIT! I was just reading the thread on Page 2 about how “One nation, under God” was being left in the Pledge. The vast majority of Peas were happy about it, and were praising God. I would LOVE to know how that thread would go now. And the funniest thing in the thread…. One person said that it should never have been added as it wasn’t traditionally part of the pledge. Then someone else said “Gay marriage isn’t traditional either. Are you for that?” And then the first Pea said “I am NOT going to discuss this here, please stick to the OP, that is the POLITE thing to do.” Hahahahahahaha hahahahahahaha! When do we EVER stick to the OP? You know what would be fun? We should start the exact same threads on today's board and see what happens!

When did the message board first appear. I know I started reading pretty close to the beginning but I was scared to post much. I think I got piled on my very first post and backed way off. I do wish many of the old (nice) Peas would return. I’m feeling quite nostalgic.

So, I teach a Mass Comm class and I am putting together an interactive activity about the old days of the internet to show GenZ what they missed (lol), and I ran across the Way Back Machine (again....forgot about it). Anyway, I picked a random date from 2peas of old: June 2004 Two Peas In a Bucket
Gosh Lauren was a miserable person. Boy our demographics have AGED so much (pg peas, TTC peas, breastfeeding...) Not a Old Person thread in sight. We still get LIVID... Only see a couple of recognizable names.... Oh, the days when some thought Bush was the worst we could do.... Have fun.... If you find a gem, post it. What is the Way Back Machine and do you have a link to it?

That said, I really wish that we had more conservative women here now. I miss hearing from those with differing opinions and beliefs. There are conservative members, we just don't participate in political threads. There are a few that do, but it's usually the same small handful. I don't have any desire to defend my politics, defend if I did or did not vote for Trump, try to explain that just because I'm a conservative doesn't mean I'm racist, anti-feminist, pro life, anti LGBTQ, complicit, super religious, stupid, uneducated or just plain ignorant, etc, etc, etc. I must live in the south or some rural hick town, or I'm rich keeping down the poor. I'm sure if I was on the other end and this board was mostly conservative I would feel the same way going the opposite direction. As a matter of fact, based on comments since I joined the peas, it seems like that's the way it used to be. It's really too bad that when the political make-up of this board swung the other way, nothing really changed.

However I am interested in different viewpoints (including the conservative viewpoint) about life and its issues in general. Well, in that case, I'm pretty prolific on the threads I find interesting! But, I guess other than political threads, I don't know that my being conservative or liberal has much to do with my thoughts and I don't declare my position as being from a conservative or liberal standpoint. I'd say that my views regarding some social issues are pretty darn liberal. However, I think that where I veer into conservative territory is my belief in personal responsibility. Thanks for clarifying your intent in asking about stance. I'm definitely a live and let live person in most cases, which is why most of the political threads hold no interest for me. It's usually assimilate or die. I think this is where we go wrong, trying to pigeonhole people into one side or the other, as if there is no independent thought or position for any subject. If you're A you must think B. That's what I find disheartening.
