I had a haircut scheduled, but I think I'm coming down w/a cold. My plans have changed. I don't want to spread the joy to my nice hairdresser and her family. So, I'll stay home and rest. I think dh wants oyakudon for dinner. He likes it on the weekend.
What's on your menu?
Wishing my lovely tribe a weekend filled w/fun, healing and relaxation.

Good Friday morning! scrapmaven I hope that you are not getting a cold. Sending healing prayers and hugs to you! Today is going to be a crazy day for me. My ODS is having eye and ear issues. So I am talking to doctor after doctor and trying to make appointments. I am also planning on finishing my Christmas village and sending out family gifts. The cards will go later this weekend. Tonight, YDS would like to have homemade chicken soup. So that’s on my menu and I will probably make cornbread to go with it.

Unfortunately he has had an eye issue for years and now he has lost hearing in his ear on the same side as his eye. We have been seeing doctors at CHOP. They think it might be an autoimmune disease that hasn’t been discovered.

Today, the family center where I work and take German classes had some good news! For many years, we have been embroiled in a legal battle with a couple who live in an apartment above the center, firstly over noise, and then over whether our usage of the space was legally allowed. We took the case to the Federal Court, and this morning they ruled in our favour. They have knocked back both objections. On noise, the declared that a Family Center had the same protection under the law as a creche, kindergarten or school regarding the noise children make, that is - children are allowed to make noise, and you can’t have them shut down for that reason. They even considered the objection that the noise at our center was also adults, not only children, by saying that this was ‘a petty application of the noise law’ As to the issue that our space was originally zoned as a store - though we did get a revision on that before we moved in - they said that people living over a store would expect a certain level of public foot traffic, and our center was no different in that regard.
So, after 10 years, it is all over. We can stay in our space and contiune to offer programs to cater for children up to school age, who come from many different national and cultural backgrounds. It also means we can now spend our money on upgrades to the facilities and programs, and our time and energy on meeting the needs of our local community. We already had our end of year drinks organised for this afternoon, as it is the last Friday we are open before Christmas. It was quite a joyful occasion!
Dinner here tonight will be tuna/sweetcorn casserole - I wasn't sure when I'd get home from the party, so wanted something simple and quick to make.

destined2bmom , you are in such a frustrating loop. Autoimmune diseases are so complicated and diagnosis is not easy. I'll pray that they find answers and treatment. ((((HUGS))).
sueg, that's wonderful news. You have every reason to celebrate. Woohoo!

Happy Friyay ladies!!
I've been out grocery shopping this morning. I'm waiting for 2 of the 3 kids to come home and 15 mins later, I have to go pick up Crutch-y, as we've been calling her (it makes her laugh). We brainstormed the best way to pick her up from school in bad weather. It's too long for her to get from the school to where ds parks in the student lot. And because there are so many carpoolers and people right in front of the school, we decided that she'd hang out in the chairs by the welcome center for 15 mins so I can drive right up to the building to get her.
Both girls have appts tonight for brows and haircuts. When dh gets home, he'll officially be on vacation until 2020. I'm so excited.
I feel like for the first time in a very long time, I'm having a hard time coming out of this weird funk I'm in. I really hope dh being on vacation is enough to do that.
Dinner tonight is YOYO. The are a few things leftover in the refrigerator or people can order out or make something on their own. But I'm not cooking.
Have a great day ladies!!

I'm going to see the movie "Last Christmas" tonight with a friend and we're going out for dinner afterward ... I'm not sure what I'll eat ... maybe a steak since I haven't had one in quite some time I'm not sure what I'll feed dd#2 ... takeout of some sort or rotisserie chicken ... I'll ask her what she wants Hugs to everyone who needs them ... I've been a total bitch to my students this week because my emotions have been all over the place ... I felt guilty so I brought them treats yesterday ... granola bars and rice krispie squares ... now they love me again

I drove an hour after work to pick up marinated steak tips for dinner. I also bought Mac and cheese and loaded mashed potatoes that I’ll pop into the oven. Dh and I used to go to this restaurant sometimes on Friday afternoons for lunch. The food is delicious ( brandy327 can attest to the yumminess that is Tuckaway Tavern). I have to figure out if it’s worth unburying the grill or if they will be just as good cooked in a cast iron pan on the stove. Apparently I offered to babysit while dd works OT tomorrow as well as picking dgd up a few days next week to allow dd to work late. I am awfully agreeable for someone who really just wants to be left alone.

This is a big party weekend for us so dinner might be appetizers & finger food. If I can't find enough to eat, I'll fill up when we get home. Such great news to have the legal battle over, sueg. destined2bmom, I hope you get answers for your DS.

Happy Friday everyone! The quilts were finished and are in NYC right now. DD will take the train to her friend's home tomorrow morning and give them to the boys. I spent yesterday having my hair done and then lunch/catch up with a friend who lives in Thailand most of the year now. Haven't seen her since August so that was nice. Today I've slept half the morning, paid bills, done a bit of laundry and am now moving back to the sewing room to finish off my sister's wall hanging. I really want this last project out of here tomorrow so that I can finally relax! Will take my machine in for servicing next week and don't plan to sew again until January. Still haven't done any Christmas shopping, still don't have any decorations up and still looking for my holiday spirit. Guess that will be priority this weekend.
Dinner tonight will most likely be DH bringing home some Shake Shack burgers. I have a pizza dough and toppings I need to use up so will probably make that for myself (though I'm sure he'll try some of that as well).

brandy327, I absolutely love to go bowling, though I can't anymore. I'm such a good bowler that my top bowling score w/bumpers is 79. One friend told me that I bowl like Fred Flinstone w/the twinkle toes and hands in the air. Another friend told me that she could never bowl w/me again, because she had 2 children and her bladder couldn't take it. My career as a pro-bowler was pretty much cut short at birth. hehe.
PolarGreen12, is it my imagination or are you missing this week? Hope all is well. Please check in.

ETA I typed all the messages to everyone first (leaving space at the top to come back and post my dinner plans) and then forgot to go back! After I posted, I saw the big gap at the top of my post! d’ohh) SO, dinner: the tuscano soup I didn’t make yesterday. It will probably feed me AND the neighbors all weekend. sueg , fabulous news for your family center. What a waste of everyone’s resources to have to fight that battle for so many years. jeremysgirl , that photo looks like lots of fun waiting to happen. scrapmaven , I hope you feel better fast. destined2bmom , I hope your son can get the diagnosis and treatment he needs. brandy327 , I hope you feel better fast, too. About picking up your DD at school: I had a similar situation with the 10yo when he was in freakin’ kindergarten ... he had surgery to remove the nails in his leg from a bad break the year before and was in a cast for a couple of weeks afterwards. I had to park and help him get to his classroom each morning, but it’s super crowded at the school and I couldn’t park close enough unless I arrived at least half an hour early, and even then, it would be a hike. I asked the principal if we could park at the curb in the teacher’s lot (where the daycare vans park for pickup and drop off) for five minutes so I could get him inside. She not only said no, but she added that we should just come half an hour early and wait in the car. Snottily. And he wasn’t old enough to leave unattended either before or after school. I solved the problem by taking him to school 15 minutes late every day, after everyone else was gone. And I told her that was what I’d be doing. Screw that bitch. (She’s gone now. I like the current principal just fine.)

DS was having a mate over for the night, so I said I'd pick them up an HSP on the way home. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before that an HSP is chips (fries) covered with cheese then lamb from the spit then bbq, chilli and garlic sauces over the top. I got home and saw DD's car in the driveway and thought "Oh shit, I forgot about my daughter!" In my defence..... she's been away for 7 weeks, and for the 4 years prior to that she worked every Friday night so was never home for dinner. But still. What kind of a mother forgets her child? She ended up having leftovers from her birthday dinner. As for me..... I made myself a dish of cheesy creamy scalloped potatoes and ate the whole lot. jeremysgirl I can't wait to see the end result of all that baking!

I got home and saw DD's car in the driveway and thought "Oh shit, I forgot about my daughter!" LOL - I thought you were going to be in trouble for no vegetables on the menu.

Finally Friday!
Dinner will be very simple, but you have a choice: Ramen noodles or tortilla chips and cheese or biscuits and gravy.
FIL has been doing ok at home, but had a set back this morning. He's in the hospital and getting ready for surgery for a possible bowel obstruction. Not good, when you are 89 years old and feeble. There is several family members there tonight, so DH and I will go visit tomorrow.
Good wishes to all and hopes for a nice weekend.
