My scrap room is wide open to a hallway and has a large window. I am also close to the front door that is 1/2 glass. For lighting, I have one of those close to the ceiling “boob” lights. LOL It gives off very low light. I have a floor lamp, as well as a desk OTTlite, but I still have to turn on the overhead light in the room, as well as the main hallway to get enough lighting.
I like my desk light, but would like something else that hangs down from the ceiling that actually gives off good light without having to turn on every light in the house.
If you have good ceiling light in your scraproom, do you mind sharing a pic, or a store link? I’d really appreciate it!

Following since I am looking for a light. Day time is great since it’s all windows but evening I only have a floor lamp since there’s no other lighting in this room! It’s like they forgot to do any ceiling lighting on our first floor at all!

I have a ceiling fan in my room. I recently switched the bulbs to daylight LEDs which was a game changer for me. My craft room is in the finished attic, with only 2 windows, one on each end and only 1 in the craft room. During the day, the overhead light is sufficient. At night, I have 3 ott lights that I also turn on, one floor lamp and 2 desk lamps

Following- I have 2 of those long overhead fluorescent things. I’d love to find an affordable solution

Not a ceiling light but I got this for Xmas from DH. I like it way better than my Ott light. It is very wide and floods my entire counter depth desktop with light. You can choose from multiple light temperatures. It is also very slim, unobtrusive and comes in white. The brand is PHIVE. Some of his co-workers have them at work (they work on engineering plans). Highly recommend for other scrappers! Runs about $60-70 he said. Phive LED Task Lamp, 20 Watt Super Bright Desk Lamp with Clamp, Dimmable Gooseneck Monitor Lamp(4 Color Modes, 5-Level Dimmer, Memory Function, Highly Adjustable Office Light/Workbench Lamp) Silver www.smile.amazon.com/dp/B078N2HS5D/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_0h8aEbDCX0XCJ

My room’s lighting fixture is 100 years old so I can’t help, sorry. All our lighting is pretty terrible. Maybe look for something with more than one bulb?

Is having recessed lights installed an option? I have four can lights in my small craft room- they help so much! I still use an Ott light on my desktop but having uniform lighting throughout the rest of the room helps tremendously. Can’t speak to the cost as I had them added in when our house was being built and it was pretty cheap to do it that way.

I hate 'regular' overhead lights, and I never use the light that's in the ceiling fan-- blech. My DH installed track lighting with super-bright halogen bulbs both in my craft room and in his music room. They're not hard-wired, or anything like that. There's a track that's about 4 or 5 feet long, and the lights snap into the track where ever you want them to go. The lights swivel so you can aim individual lights wherever you want. We installed them originally because I have high shelves for displaying some of my vintage collectibles, but I do have a couple of the lights aimed at my work surface. The power cord goes across the ceiling and down the wall to the outlet, where I have them on a dimmer switch. (they're super-bright and it can get warm-- it's a small room and a lot of lights). I think we got them at either Lowes or Home Depot. The lights in my room are on two pieces of track that fit together with an L-connector so the lights aim at two walls and at the desk, which I have in the middle of the room. I don't remember if this is them exactly, but they're similar to this: Mini Cylinder Halogen track lighting.
eta: I also have a floor Ott light at my desk, too. (I originally got it for cross-stitching, so I bought a floor one that I can move from room to room)

Nothing special for lighting in my scrapbook room. I have a very large east facing window, (maybe 5 ft x 5 ft), and then justa normal ceiling fan with 4 down facing bulbs. It’s enough light even at night, that I don’t need anything else

Can’t speak to the cost as I had them added in when our house was being built and it was pretty cheap to do it that way. My studio is in the basement with only two north facing windows on one end. I replaced the can lights in my studio because they were dim, spotty and horrible. DH put in fluorescent cloud fixtures with 4’ daylight bulbs and it was a total game changer. Now instead of being lit with dim yellow spots, I have a lot of broadly cast overall white light. I love it. I can be working on stuff in the middle of the night in the dead of winter and it’s bright as day down there.

I love this option for light over my dual monitor. Thanks for sharing. And it works great in my new spacel

In my regular overhead light fixture, I replaced all the bulbs with Edison-style Ott light bulbs. It’s made quite a difference - the lighting isn’t yellow now!

I also have a "boob" light ceiling fixture (LOL, never heard them called that before, but the description fits). But I never use the ceiling light - in general I hate that type of overhead lighting. I have double east-facing windows adjacent to my craft desk, so I get plenty of natural light (my favorite) but I also have this directly next to the desk: Floor Lamp. I'd really like to have track lighting installed in here. DH & I looked into getting those for our living room (pre-pandemic) and I would have had some installed in the scrap room at the same time, but that project is on hold for now. I think I'd use the overheard light more if I had that type. For now, though, my windows and my floor lamp provide plenty of light. I also have a tabletop task light that I can add if needed, but I rarely ever need it for scrapping - currently that one is downstairs where I do my cross-stitching.

In my current space, I have overhead recessed lights over my whole studio apt, as well as the dining and kitchen areas have it's own single lights that can be turned on as well. Those provided enough light when I was scrapbooking.
In a past living space, my scrapbook area was in a corner and didn't receive as much light from the overhead lights. I bought a lamp similar to this one, that provided extra light over my scrapbook table.
Edited....oops, someone messaged me, seems my link wouldn't work. Anyways I bought a floor lamp, that had arm on it, so it could extend over my table.
