Same thing happened to my sister in law and she received the same diagnosis. Hope you’re feeling okay - sending my best! Damn I'm sorry. When was that? How is she now? I'm recovering. A few bumps in the road, but improving. Thank you! She was diagnosed about a year ago. Her chemo and then a medication trial have really improved her quality of life and she feels really good right now!

I forget how many years it had been since she’d had a period, but my mom was firmly post meno. Also, she hadn’t flown in 20 years and is always afraid (serious anxiety.) She flew out for my son’s birth, and had a period start a few days after arrival. Never did again, and her return flight was 6 weeks later.
Have you done something stressful? Also; when I say stress, she flew out for my son’s birth, on Sept 10, 2001, from Pittsburgh. So not “normal” stress levels - at all.
ETA- sorry, I didn’t read the responses first, or the date. But I’ll leave the an anecdotal story here.

I have also had bleeding about 18 months post menopause. I didn't really think a lot of it at the time. It was more annoying than anything. It was actually a post here on 2Peas that convinced me to go and get it checked out in early June last year. I had a scan done and was then referred to a specialist (gynaecological oncologist). She did a a Hysteroscopy and D&C that same month. All was fine but she wanted to monitor. A further scan in December showed that the uterine lining was too thick but at that stage they still decided to just monitor it and I was booked in for another scan last month. During this time there was spotting every couple of months. They didn't say much during the last scan but I could tell there was a concern as they called in the gynaecologist and i picked up on some of their conversation. She asked me when my next appointment (which was the following Monday) and said that my Doctor would book me in for another Hysteroscopy and D&C. As I was leaving she said, 'Don't worry, its all contained to the uterus'. So I think she expected me to know what their concerns were without actually saying it. A couple of days later I was hit with what seemed to be the period from hell. It was so heavy and so painful. My doctor gave me medication to stop the bleeding, which did minimise it, but didn't stop it. I had the Hysteroscopy and D&C a couple of days later. I've had a follow up visit. No cancer but she still has concerns due to the uterine lining continuing to thicken and says it shouldn't be happening. Her recommendation is a hysterectomy. She did blood tests while i was there and I have a follow up on Monday for results and to possibly make arrangements for the surgery. Unfortunately it will have to be done surgically as it is too swollen to remove any other way.
