It was too short. I really like James. But I feel that he is holding back because he doesn’t want to beat ken. This! When my kids and I first heard about the GOAT shows we joked about who would win and if James would want Ken to keep his title.

I would like to read that article. I find it extremely unlikely that it would be true, it's probably more of a conspiracy theory than an informed article. Standards and practices scrutiny of game shows is very rigorous. No, it seemed legitimate to me. Turns out it is a video, and I found it. I'll link it below. The first minute and a half is not relevant, but then he gets into the statistics. He talks about Ken's loss too. I shouldn't say he was definitely screwed over by producers. But I do believe there was effort made to end both winning streaks. Watch the video; it's very interesting. Oh, and standards and practices wouldn't be able to do anything about these changes, btw. Here's the video: JeopardyI watched the video, which was made by someone called "the film theorists.". So, a theory. All the theories presented and then debunked were interesting, and I had heard of them. The final theroy, that producers made a special game to oust both players, ignores a glaring problem. The show producers don't pick which game is played on a certain day, and they don't pick which players play on any given day. There is no way they could guarantee that Emma played the game with the Shakespeare final jeopardy question.

It was a fun watch last night... How close James and Ken got. I don't think James got a single Double last night and that Brad guy kept blowing it. I did warm up to Ken last night though.. but still rooting for James. I don't know how Brad usually is, but at this point I am counting him out.
Is this a 3 night special?? Wasn't quite sure how it played out..

Is this a 3 night special?? Wasn't quite sure how it played out.. It depends. Each night they play 2 sets. The combined score of the 2 sets wins that round The first player to win 3 rounds wins the million. So...since Ken won last night, if he wins tonight and tomorrow, then it would be over. However, if another player wins tonight (or tomorrow), they will have to go at least one more extra night...it continues until someone has won 3 rounds, so it could possibly go on anywhere between 3 nights to 7 nights.

We’re excited to watch these. We let the older kids stay up till 8:30 to watch the first set. So fun.
I do not love the music they are using for final jeopardy. It makes me feel really nervous.

dang it I taped the wrong show! I love James, rooting for him. Such a good guy, I love how he's so charitable with his earnings.

Even as I was watching that game I thought something was "off." Getting every single question right is very unusual which is part of what seemed weird to me, I guess.

Yes, it's just the luck of the draw, the categories that pop up. Which reminded me... does anyone remember the Cheers episode when Cliff Clavin got on Jeopardy? The categories were all in his wheelhouse: Civil Servants, Stamps From Around the World, Mothers and Sons, Beer, Bar Trivia, and Celibacy. His amazing run ended in Final Jeopardy, when he blew $22,000, on a not Cliff Clavin dream board subject.

The person who beat James made it to the finals of the tournament of Champions and got 2nd to James, so it makes sense to me that two great players would get most of the questions right. The video was basing the entire idea on the fact that the game was “easy” because basically the contestants were getting all the questions right, but when you have two exceptional players they are going to get all the questions. In last nights first Jeopardy round they didn’t miss a single question and I think that has more to do with the quality of the players than the game being easy.

Here's the video: JeopardyThank you for the link. I watched the whole video and found it interesting. I kind of get what he is saying - except it didn't take into account that a high "coryat" score would happen if all the contestants were super amazing and answered a lot of questions. The score would assume the questions were easy instead of the contestants were great. I think Emma is a really great contestant with wide knowledge and good buzzer skills. Although Final Jeopardy being in her area of expertise was a little coincidental. But James got it anyway. I'll be watching tonight!

Great game tonight! I love how much fun they are having and all the insights they are giving.
Loved Ken’s comment tonight on how his game had changed to compete with James.

It is fun to watch and seems like regular Jeopardy on steriods! They are so fast on the buzzer. I have enjoyed watching all of them on champion tournaments, but am pulling for James in this GOAT

I'm surprised that Brad is struggling. I wonder if being on the end could cause you to do worse?
James grew on me some during his reign but I still would like to see Ken win it all...however, James will be extremely hard to beat!

Watching 3 white guys play trivia using questions likely predominantly written by white guys has less fascination than I expected. It does make me want to do a statistical analysis of the demographics of the writers over the years and whether there is a correlation between the questions and response rates of the contestants based on all the demographics.

I love James!
I think Brad's biggest problem is not being able to buzz in. James is super fast. I was excited that Brad finally got his daily doubles right.

What does being a white man have to do with it? These players were selected based on their merits as players and the records they hold. The questions cover a variety of subjects, every category is not titled "stuff white dudes like".

Here's an interesting observation from a poster on a Jeopardy message board I belong to.
Ken has adopted James's (objectively correct) betting strategy with full success, while James has adopted Ken's risky buzzing with far less success. Now, I'm on record saying that James may have buzzed too conservatively in his regular run (too many games with 0 incorrect suggest he probably didn't buzz in on some clues he knew), but Ken's "what the hell, I'll buzz in and figure it out" approach has been kind of the opposite extreme. It may not be bad for Ken with his specific recall pattern, but is doubtful as a general recommendation. I have a feeling that James did not systematically prepare to modify his trigger level, but only decided to be more aggressive when he saw that Ken was outbuzzing him (AND did not leave money on the table). But then he hasn't gauged it to his optimal comfort as he's done with other aspects of the game.
In other words, if Ken wins the GOAT title, it will be because Ken outjamesed James and James couldn't outken Ken.
My thanks to member "gnash" for the insight.

It was too short. I really like James. But I feel that he is holding back because he doesn’t want to beat ken. From the very first when James first came on Jeopardy I got the feeling that he idolized Ken. When James finally lost I felt like it was on purpose so that he wouldn't break Ken's record. I am basing that on nothing except a feeling. I feel the same way now. It is almost like he has dumbed himself down in deference to Ken or is intimidated/in awe. eta I am loving the games and really like how much fun they are having together.
