There are so many people who are ill or hurting that I don't know where to start. So, I'll start w/good wishes for everyone.
Tonight dh will just want his Lipton noodle soup and steamed rice. So, ds can have rechauffe chicken tortilla soup. Dh is much better, but doesn't have much of an appetite. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for a cancellation at my surgeon's office. Open. Open. Open.
What's on your menu?
Again, I want to send everyone good wishes and may you get whatever you need right now.

I'm having the most boring day ever today! It's moving so sloooooooow. I'm off tomorrow and Monday. I plan to paint DD's old room for DS. We are supposed to have a big snow storm. So I will be cozy inside.
Tonight is dinner at Mom's house. She is making steak and smoked salmon. I guess there will be baked potatoes and broccoli as well.

I have no idea. Just me since dh will be working late and dd has a team supper for gymnastics. Tomorrow is their last home meet and also parents' night. Kinda bummed I'll miss it since I need to stay up at hospital with weather coming in.
I'm planning on staying overnight at the hospital all weekend so I can work my 12 hr. day shifts with the blizzard coming tomorrow into Saturday. I have a 45 mile commute and it totally sucks in the winter time. There's a clinic opening in my town I applied for but not sure if it makes financial sense at this stage in my life. Maybe in five years. We'll see how big of a pay cut it is if I'm offered the job. I like my floor nursing but so hard on the body. The physical demands and the commute are the only downsides. I don't even mind the hours and weekends since I have a fair amount of week days off. Pros and cons, like anything.
So, I need to plan so I don't stress eat. Thinking tomato soup and egg salad sandwich would be tasty. There, it's settled. Lol.

smcast, nurses rock. I'm a huge fan. Yet, I also understand that it's hard, hard work. Plus a hard drive in addition to 3/12's is punishing. See what the clinic has to offer and then you can make the choice that's best for you and your family. Thank you for being a nurse.

We ended up having flank steak last night because we got home from the movie at 5:30. So, tonight I will make the Chicken Divan. A huge storm is coming in sometime today. The other day they had gusts up at Lake Tahoe up to 137 MPH. Stay warm and safe everyone!

We got 3-4 inches of snow and I just shoveled our driveway. We have a snowblower but I just prefer to shovel - I get some exercise that way and dh doesn't have to come home and deal with it.
I started corned beef in the crockpot last night and it's still going. So we'll have that and carrots and cabbage boiled in the water from the crockpot(but on the stovetop). And I'll make oven roasted new potatoes since no one likes the boiled potatoes.

I may be out for most of the day, but won’t know till my brother calls me in an hour and settles things. ugh, not a good day to drive into town ... it’s rainy and soooo gloomy/dark here right now. Anyway, if I get to stay home today, I’ll finish making chicken soup with veggies and matzoh balls. Since practically the only veggie the 10yo saw yesterday was salsa he needs lots of veggies today. If I’m going to be out all day, honestly maybe I’ll just pick up Panda Express. At least there’s lots of veggies in it. Wishing everyone with medical problems, family issues, and work annoyances very well today. Stay safe with this ICK weather, too!

You can strain that corned beef cooking water (even after cooking the veggies) and use it to make a bean soup or split pea soup. I love split pea soup with corned beef even better than with ham, but I have to make two entire corned beefs to have some left to add to soup, because these people are total vultures about corned beef.

these people are total vultures about corned beef. DS in a nutshell. Bowling tonight and we need to eat out of the freezer because we have an Omaha Steaks order coming on Saturday. Taquitos before bowling and something better at bowling. Tomorrow, off to the grocery store right after work before the weekend snow storm hits. Dinner tomorrow will be Grilled Chicken Sandwiches or Filet and Lobster Tail, Saturday, Beef Stew, and Sunday, Chili.

Another round of cold wet air moved in last night so I’m craving comfort and hibernation food. I have some Pillsbury pie crusts in the freezer so I think I’ll make some chicken pot pie for dinner. Which I will eat on the couch in my pjs in a Cocker cuddle puddle while watching Evil. 😊❤️🐶 scrapmaven you’re so good to always think of us all. smcast nurses rock! Two of my besties are night shift RNs, ones in the ED and the other is L&D. They are badass. Plus the one is the ED has the best “you put what up your where” stories. 😂😂😂😂

It’s storming out right now and I’m working from home. Lights keep flickering and the town next to us lost power so fingers crossed.
I’m eating last night leftovers which were so good - red coconut curry with tofu, onions, spinach and tomatoes.
I wanted to do a chicken braise tonight so the house would smell delicious all afternoon but that would mean going to the store - so I might make a lentil soup instead...

Tonight we will have the Cowboy Skillet (cottage pie type thing) from EveryPlate as I ran out of time last night to make it. So I made the Thyme Lemon Chicken Linguine. This recipe has made me realize I'm not a fan of thymne! I think I like it mixed in with other spices/herbs but as the main flavor, no thanks. The rest of the meal was good but I probably wouldn't order that option again.

Well, my lunch in the city got cancelled, so while I’m glad I don’t have to go out in this messy weather, I’m also worried. My brother and I were going to have lunch with my late dad’s 90yo cousin, who has no other family besides his wife. He and his wife are both very reliable and still have all their faculties, but my brother hasn’t been able to reach them for the past couple of days, so we’re worried. He’s going to stop by their senior residence place later on and see if he can find out anything. these people are total vultures about corned beef. DS in a nutshell. I kid you not, I can cook a 3.5 lb corned beef, and then four adults later, there’s maybe a tiny scrap left, enough for half a sandwich. IF I hide it before the boys realize there’s still a tiny scrap left. And the reason there are four adults eating it? Because if my sister and BIL get wind there’s corned beef, they. are. right. here. Ready and waiting. I really should cook it more often.

I can't think of anything good for dinner tonight. It may be frozen pizza! I should get chicken pot pie cups on my menu (who am I kidding, I never have a menu!!). But it's an easy meal and good. I don't have anything in the cupboard/pantry/fridge/freezer to even attempt to make it.

Today unfortunately I am dumb as rocks. Not enough sleep last night. I don't know what happened. Anyway...
Dinner tonight will not be chicken but maybe some steak. I want beef stroganoff tonight. Dad isn't so sure.
I wish my brain would wake up soon.

She has to get several hundred health care hours working as a PCT or CNA to apply to PA school. So she is working 12.5 hr. shifts, both day and night and they are brutal she says! My middle daughter is a junior in college with a nursing major, so she will be on that schedule too very soon. I never appreciated how hard those in health care work but now I know!

I'm kind of hoping a guy I was texting last night asks me out tonight but it's already noon ... I did hear from him this morning but it was just to say "Hi!" Regardless, I need to feed dd#2 ... and possibly dd#1 ... and possibly dd#1's boyfriend I'm thinking I'll pick up a frozen lasagna and garlic bread on the way home ... easy peasy It's still eleventy below zero here in Calgary ... no snow at least but minus 40 degrees celcius with the windchill ... school never closes though so I still have to work ... good thing I drive a car that starts in the cold weather without being plugged in Hugs to everyone who needs them

Finally got out of the house today (snow) and went to a yoga class. Felt good to get out. Making sheet pan Fajitas tonight - always a crowd pleaser with plenty of leftovers.

I've got 5lbs of pork crock potting away. Now if I can get someone to pick up some buns, pulled pork sandwiches, cole slaw, etc. are what's for dinner. Otherwise, we'll have pulled pork tomorrow and something else tonight.

Sorry so many are experiencing nasty weather. I'm enjoying a sunny 70 degree day here, but our weather is due to change this weekend. I'm feeling much better today and have a bounce in my step again thanks to the 11 hours of sleep I got last night. Dinner will be salmon for DH and fruit for me. Did you all see that our very own Montannie was once on Jeopardy? I'm in awe.
