I had a whole post typed out and the board ate it. So, here goes. Tonight dh is going to pick up Chipotle. He wants it for dinner. Fine by me. He's installing new lighting in our kitchen and family room. Much of my weekend will be dedicated to that project.
What's on your menu?
How is everyone today? We have a few tribal sisters who are sick or have sick loved ones and peas who are grieving.
destined2bmom, how are you feeling? Did your swab come back, yet?
Wishing everyone a calm and relaxing weekend.

Cold and rainy here which calls for a nice Friday night at home. We didn't eat salmon last night as planned, so that will be tonight's dinner.
Wishing everyone a weekend to relax and get well!

Good morning! scrapmaven I just got a call that I do not have Type B of the flu. So they are going to treat me for a very nasty sinus infection. They think the chills have been from the fevers. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I will be back to my old self. Last night the boys wanted pizza, so DH bought them it. There are leftovers. And tonight, I am sticking to old faithful...Homemade Chicken soup. I pray that all of you are having a blessed day.

Since dd#2 is at her dad's tonight and I'm assuming dd#1 is working I am probably on my own ... I'm certainly not cooking so I'll probably eat my obsession of brie, procuitto on melba rounds ... easy peasy Hugs to everyone who needs them

Heading home so Iโm picking up pizza from my favorite place and pierogies from the Slovak church. Every Friday here the different nationality churches sell food for carry out only. They donโt do that in my city. My dad is his normal self. No bleeding. Heโs talking to me and following all my orders. Hahahahaha. My brother has moved in here so 2 nights on the couch do not appeal to me. I can go home and come back soon. Got an update on my job. Itโs approved through February so far. I hope everyone has a good weekend. jeremysgirl I didnโt post on your atv thread. A couple months back my dh wanted an rv. I even went looking at them. Just pointed out all the hidden costs- storage, gas, remodeling... it lost its appeal. With an atv thereโs probably some license fee, a trailer to get it to trails, fees to use the trails, eye wear, helmet, appropriate clothing. So maybe the cost of all that will deter him.

I have a craving for butternut squash soup but have to go to the grocery store in order to make that happen. I have a man here fixing my bathtub and a 1:00 phone appointment with Social Security so hopefully after that I can run to the store. I also took out some ground beef and may grill burgers.
I had a Whole 30 chicken salad from Chipotle last night. It was good but it had too much of some seasoning for my taste, ironically, I think it was chipotle. It was filling and satisfying but I donโt think Iโd get it again.

BFF and I are going to the Keg for dinner and then the kids will get home. How excited am I??? I am so relieved they will be here. I will finally get to sleep soundly.
I am going to the Japanese grocery store to buy snacks like onigiri, yam tempura, takoyaki, Oicha tea, spring rolls and then ingredients for sukiyaki.
I am so happy!!!

I stayed home from bowling and went to bed at 10ish. I barely woke up when dh came home. Still feel rundown and tired today, but other than that, I don't feel terrible unless I am actively coughing. Hopefully this eases up over the weekend - one person sick at work has bronchitis, which I would say is what I have right now, the other person has pneumonia.
I'm phoning it in for dinner tonight - Smoked sausages that should be made on the grill, but it is raining, so I will make them indoors, along with leftover baked beans from last night.

DH managed to get off work early this evening, so he drove down to visit me. He arrived just as dinner was starting, so we ditched the dining room and had pizza in the cafe. We even had a glass of wine each - my first since I went into hospital. Everything is moving along nicely here - I saw my doctor again today and he is happy with my progress. I also had a chat with my physio during our session about some concerns, but she told me that things are progressing, and that is the important thing, and not to compare what I can do to others, as we are all at different points in our recovery. I have another session with her in the morning, then a massage session just after lunch, then I am free for the rest of the weekend.

We are celebrating DD's birthday tonight since she had dinner out with friends last night. She has requested spaghetti, so I'm making a pot of sauce this afternoon. Cake will be a GF German Chocolate Cake. I just use the recipe from the Baker's website, but switch out Cup4Cup gf flour for the flour. It works great and the taste really isn't that different.

Yay for Friday!!! Dd#1 decided to go to school this morning, despite me reminding her that I do groceries on Friday. So if she goes, she's stuck there until 11-12. She went anyway - 30 minutes into my trip for groceries(45 mins away), she texts me and tells me she feels like crap and wants to come home. Sorry Charlie. I picked her up at noon and her migraine was at a 5-6, where yesterday it was a 4-5. And even though I'd texted her and told her she could just go to the nurse to lay down until I got there, she stayed in classes. But while I was out, I got a call from the children's hospital about the appt request. It took 20 mins to give them all her info just to get to scheduling. Imagine my surprise when they offered her an appt for Monday!!!! They had a cancellation so I snatched it up. And we don't even have to go into the city - it's at one of their satellite offices. So yay on that front. I hurried through all my shopping this morning because I kind of felt bad making her wait but hey, she was warned ahead of time. Tonight dd#2 and a couple of friends are going to a place 15 mins away to grab dinner. Dd#1 is bummed because she just doesn't feel well enough to go. So I offered to order her something and bring it home for her. She was a little bratty when I told her about the appt being Monday, and it not being in the big city. But stuff like this is why I'm pushing and taking her to see someone else. For the 8-10 days she's out with a migraine she misses out on SO much. She skips outings with friends, she's missed reward trips to fun places, etc. She spends the entire 8-10 days laying in our oversized chair, covered with a blanket, literally doing nothing. At first I let her watch movies all day but this time I won't even let her do that. She does nothing. She's tried sleeping during the day and that only makes it where she doesn't sleep at night Ann's then when she gets up in the morning, her migraine is just that much worse. Here's hoping children's hospital can give us some hope. So anyway, ds is working until 10pm, dd's are eating out, so I bought some chicken, homemade gnocchi, and green beans for dinner for me and dh. Yum!!

Happy Saturday Eve, everyone! (( hugs )) and prayers are said as I read for anyone who needs them! jeremysgirl....Love that meme! Hope your weekend is great, and only wish it was LONGER for you and all our other Mon-Friday peeps!!!! scrapmaven ..... Of COURSE I realize that not everybully ooohs and ahhhs and loves seeing videos of adora-bull bulldogs annnd, I'm actually not usually a huge video watcher myself......BUT......last night on youtube, I found REUBEN .....anddd, I binge-watched MANY of his vids!!! I literally could NOT stop watching !!! I even told his hooman that I have TWO bulldogs of my own, yet.....here I was, watching Reuben! (Although, as I also told him---mine were sound asleep, so I "NEEDED" a bulldog fix!) The other reason I got "hooked" is the way his hooman TALKS about him.....sooo funny and cute!...... "Get a bulldog they said....it'll be fun they said" With alll that said, since I know you love Meaty and Sophie and doggies in general, I kept thinking "I have GOT to share this with scrapmaven !!! She will justtt LOL!" (and of course, I'd love it if any other members of your pawsome dinner tribe would enjoy this, too). Of course I know we have some peeps who do NOT care for doggies at all, and it's cool----I totes understand! .....Anddd, just when I thought the video couldn't get ANY more adora-bull, he puts on a UPS COSTUME!!!!!!!! I am going to find that for Meaty if it's the last thing I do !!!!!!!!!!! Without further ado (and verbosity!!!), I give you REUBEN the BULLDOG Without further ado..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lQVB2Tt4YE&t=704sI'm certainly not cooking so I'll probably eat my obsession of brie, procuitto on melba rounds You mentioned that yesterday, and now I am VERY intrigued and must try 'em! I don't think I've ever had procuitto. I've known for years that wrapping it around cantalope is a very popular appetizer. Sidebar....gurrrrrrl, you know from my post on the "single ladies" thread that I enjoy reading it. I'm surprized you don't have a big date tonight! On a selfish note, that means I don't get to read about it! And just to be sure you know I'm just being silly about you not having a date---I was single a long time, and I think staying home and chillin' by ourselves is a GOOD thing! You know what they say----you have to be best friends with YOURSELF first! That is SO true! I was a verrry independent gal who honestly thought I'd NEVER get married! Just found out from the Birthday thread that Today is akathyโs Birthday. What a wonderful legacy this thread is to her. I hope that she knows how much joy she brought to us. ๐๐๐ Awww....I remember her dinner posts SO well, I loved reading them! How many years has it been since she died (P.S....I hope you start feeling better ASAP!!!) My dad is his normal self. No bleeding. Heโs talking to me and following all my orders. Hahahahaha Hee hee! Taking orders, eh? Maybe THAT'S what I need to do with my Dad! I'm happy to hear he's better! kids will get home. How excited am I??? I am so relieved they will be here. I will finally get to sleep soundly. Oh wow, are you saying you NEVER

Kind of a mixed up day today. Ran errands with DH for the place he works. Went off the clock and got Subway for lunch. I ate 1/2 of a chicken Cesar wrap and Iโll really not hungry.
I made an instant pot full of rice for my DD for her familyโs dinner (I have no idea what sheโs making). My DH asked if he could have some of it for his dinner, so heโll eat that. I doubt Iโll be hungry for much else.
I got my 1st Shingrex shingles shot this morning and my arm is starting to feel sore. The technician warned me that everyone seems to get at least a pretty sore arm from the shot with the pain lasting 2-3 days. I think Iโll snuggle up with my dogs and watch TV tonight. Itโs been rainy and cold all day. It will be another good night to stay inside. Iโll have a bowl of cereal or maybe popcorn later if Iโm motivated enough to get up and get it. Ha.

Just found out from the Birthday thread that Today is akathy โs Birthday. What a wonderful legacy this thread is to her. I hope that she knows how much joy she brought to us. ๐๐๐ Thank you for sharing this. Happy Birthday to kathy . She gave us this gift and because of her we have formed some wonderful bonds, here. Thank you kathy .
Glad to hear that you don't have the flu. Sinus infections aren't fun. Hopefully, the antibiotics will kick in quickly and you'll feel much better.
teddyw , I'm glad that you're dad is doing better. Will he need ongoing full time care? Have you had time to figure out what you want to do after February? Is there a particular part of nursing that you prefer?
brandy327 , I'm so happy to hear that your dd has a Monday appt. That's great news. Hopefully, this specialist will be able to offer some strong relief.
My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. Can I please ask some of you to start the thread Wed-Friday next week? It's likely outpatient, but my doctor thinks there's a chance that it's going to be a bigger surgery than we have planned. In order to keep my mind from dwelling, I'm going bake a few things over the next few days. I'm going to have 2 babysitters the day after surgery(2 friends), so I will provide some yummy snacks for them.
sueg , I'm glad that your dh and you were able to have a little "date" while at rehab. Have you been able to take any photos, yet?
scrappintoee , I can't get sound from youtube until dh fixes this issue, but I watched the video. He's so cute. Man, did he NOT want to be a cow. That was very funny. I just wanted to snuggle w/Reuben. Thank you for sharing and thinking of me.
Restless Spirit , The Shingrix vaccine packs a punch. Don't be surprised if you feel fluish for a day or two. The 2nd round is unfortunately, harder. Still, it really beats getting shingles. This is an occasion where it's OK to really pamper yourself and rest if needed.

I always wonder if it tastes a lot different, so you answered my question. By the way, I MIGHT have told you this before, but in case I haven't.....Whenever you post about HEB, it makes my heart happy!!! We used to live in San Antonioooo, and omg---we LOVED it there and miss it, plus, all our families are there (But we'll go back afer DH retires!!!) Anyhoooo..... EVERYONE I know agrees that there is just something special about HEB !!! Even our nephews that moved to Los Angeles years ago have said that they REALLY miss HEB! I find that SO interesting, because I'm sure they have a LOT of cool grocery stores to choose from there!

Costco chicken for dinner tonight. Tomorrow I will make chicken noodle soup.
I was given a date for my upcoming surgery so I am starting to make some meals to put in the freezer for me to use while I am recuperating.
So I will start with soup and then maybe make a beef barley vegetable soup. I will need to be on a liquid type diet for about 2 weeks afterwards as is a urology related surgery.
The unicorn of this whole medical thing is that I was having a ct scan for something else and then this popped up! The ct scan was to see if my ribs were broken after a severe fall. No, the ribs were bruised, not broken but the radiologist picked up that the urinary tract had an abnormality and it wasn't working properly, bulges at both ends where I had the replacement ureter surgery. Another specific ct scan with contrast really showed the abnormality and surgery is booked.
I've had pain in my lower left quadrant for over 20+ years, sometimes really bad and other times just annoying pain. I had urology surgery when I was 13 (many years ago) and along with c-sections and hysterectomy, I ended up with scar tissue. What doctor is going to order a ct scan when a person simply says, this part of me hurts, especially when there are no significant organs in the said area. Thank goodness for an excellent radiologist who read the entire scan and for the ER doctor who ordered both x-rays and a ct scan.
