Hee hee....I HAD to start a thread about this! I can't WAIT to hear your stories! (this was a few minutes ago) My Dad asked me that if the next time I go to the store, if I can grab him "some of those pens in different colors".... We happened to be standing right next to my scrapbook room which is full of about a million pens.... I stopped to think of a silly / witty answer....
He took my pause as me not understanding him, so then said " you know....those different colors of felt-tip pens that you can MAYBE find in the OFFICE SUPPLY area....they MIGHT have them there....would you mind checking for me next time you go?" --------------------------------------- Hee hee.....he is now having a BLAST going through my many, MANYYY different containers of colored pens! He wants to start writing things in different colors in his daily calendar, to make certain things stand out, etc.
.....OMG, is my Dad becoming a PLANNER? Should I show him allllll the websites for that? The STICKERS !??!
I can't wait to hear your funniest/ weirdest scrapbook questions!

Just remembered a gem from many years ago! Best friend's husband heard about my trip to CKU, annnd my two trips to GASC (Dallas, TX) and Virginia. * (did any of you go to GASC in Northern Virginia? I was THRILLED that they had one there, because my Dad and baby brother lived there, so I got a double-fun visit!) He said " ummm....are you in a CULT?" (the sad thing is, he was SERIOUSLY concerned! OMG, this paper/ photo/ sticker thing was causing me to TRAVEL and go to CONVENTIONS....it MUST be something horrible!)

My husband walked into my scraproom and said he needed a 1 inch circle. "Do you have anything that would make a 1" hole in a paper?" "Hmm...Yes, I think I can handle that!"

I recently redid my scrapbook room for my birthday and I lovingly made color bins and tucked them in my IKEA drawers separating my enamel dots into the bins. I keep the door shut, but sometimes my older kids wander in and leave the door open when they wander out. Just this week I went downstairs and saw the open door only to discover my two year old had gotten in my drawers. My new beautiful room was covered in my collection of enamel dots. She could tell from my expression that I wasn't pleased and she asked me, "Do you wanna sticker, mommy?" I started to laugh (but only becuase I really wanted to cry) and started taking pictures of her and the room. My 17 year old walked by and said, "Are you really going to scrapbook this?" I said,"Yes, when I'm not so mad about it." His reply, "You are so weird, mom."

Years ago when we were looking to buy a new car, as we were going through the car dealership lot looking at the different models, dh would rate them as "can fit your scrap crap in here" or "can't fit your scrap crap in here." I purchased an SUV!

I have been scrapbooking for almost 20 years and my parents have been very supportive of my hobby. My dad, always the tease, calls my scrapbooking/stamping hobby “scramping”... combining the two words. He makes me smile.

This isn't really funny, but my SIL used to scrapbook, and my brother called it "crapbooking." He would give her a lot of grief about getting together with me to go "crapbooking" and always tried to get my DH to join in when we were at a family gathering, etc, which he would not. He values his life too much, and is pretty supportive of me, even tells other people "I always know where to find my pictures." I would tell my brother to put a cork in it and stop but he never listens. My SIL doesn't scrapbook anymore, she says she is just not interested and is too busy, etc..but I always kind of felt that is was because he likened it to crap.
Edited to add a funnier thing I just thought about, I told someone once that I scrapbook and they said no way, I was much to young to have such a senior citizen hobby. That was when I was 24 lol. I am now 46 and still going strong! I told her scrapbooking was for people of any age!

When I started scrapping, way back when, I showed DH one of my pages.
His big question for me was, "What are the stars for?"
me: "What?"
DH: "The stars? Why are they there? Do they mean something?"
me: "No. They're just stars. They don't mean anything."
DH, unimpressed: "oh."
me: " ? ? ? ... !!! "
He can be so freaking literal sometimes. Just look at the pretty paper and the photo of the cute baby!

I love that your DH was thinking about that! she says she is just not interested and is too busy, etc..but I always kind of felt that is was because he likened it to crap. That's very sad if it's the REAL reason she stopped I was much to young to have such a senior citizen hobby. Hee hee....I haven't heard that one yet! ETA: I have a bad habit of being of ramblinggg and/or going off topic, so I'll share that I started typing out all the NEGATIVE comments we've all heard about this awesome hobby, but I deleted and realized that's NOT what my OP was about! 1. I have another thing that's not a funny QUESTION like my OP asked, but, if y'all don't mind, I'm gonna slightly highjack my own thread? Years back, when I was reallly REALLLLLLLY into scrapbooking, my cute nephews and nieces would actually say they wanted to buy me certain stickers and/or papers with an activity/ food/ etc. and then they looked forward to doing that activity/ eating that food with me so that I could scrapbook it! Annnd, we totally did that! Sooo much fun! 2. Also, like craftymom101 said about her Dad making her smile. Back in those times when I scrapped EVERY. SINGLE. MINUTE. of our lives, ( including the "manufactured" events done to go with my new stickers ), my Dad used his most dramatic, sounded like a movie premiere voice to say: " If Toee didn't scrap it, it DIDN'T HAPPEN!" Ohhh, my family and I just latched onto that, and it became a thing. Fun times !!!

I just barely told my husband about two peas this year and even then it was kind of vague. It's a message board that has scrapbookers.
I met a pea this summer when we were in her town and he was confused. How do you know her?
My mom infrequently scrapbooks but knows I have a Cricut. She asked if it would be too much to ask if I could cut out a yellow butterfly for a family reunion thing. I asked her what size?
ETA: Forgot about the squirrel. It was a butterfly and a squirrel.

(((Hugs))) That reminds me of when my now 15 years old was two years old and my then-husband was "watching" them while I was taking our oldest to a doctor's appointment. I come home, husband is on the couch, no two year old to be seen. All is quiet. I knew there was a mess being made somewhere, and discovered it when I walked into my bedroom to find my desk drawer open, toddler in the chair, and my wood mounted alphabet stamps stained with the turquoise ink pad. I was so angry (with husband) because I was so careful to not stain my wood stamps, and then because he was lazy parenting, they are forever stained. (And of course because my kid could've hurt themself. But since they hadn't, i was able to be pissed about my stamps).

Not really a question, more a tidbit, but...
I started scrapbooking before any of my kids started school, so when they started school, they were familiar with my tools and consumables like cardstock.
Imagine their surprise when they discovered that not every mom has a fully stocked craft stash, along with paper trimmer, paper punches, die cut machine & dies, and a full range of adhesives that they could pull from for projects and book reports.
My oldest came home from kindy one day and with wide eyes said, "Mom! Suzy didn't even know what a trimmer is!"
She had thought all my scrapping stuff was common household fare, like a toaster might be.

He can be so freaking literal sometimes. Just look at the pretty paper and the photo of the cute baby! MY DH is an engineer and I can TOTALLLLY imagine him saying something like that---BUT, the truth is, I think his eye ONLY focuses on the photos--which is actually a GOOD thing, right? I would actually LOVE it if he commented on my "artwork", etc.....BUT....I had to accept yearrrrs ago that NON-scrapbookers usually do NOT notice the embellies, the different hues of the 3 layers of gorgeous cardstock used to frame the photo and really make it "POP", etc. [tr][td class="content"][article] She had thought all my scrapping stuff was common household fare, like a toaster might be. LOVE that !!! if it would be too much to ask if I could cut out a yellow butterfly for a family reunion thing How DARE she ask you to do something like that !! I love that she was so polite, asking if it was "too much" to ask. She could tell from my expression that I wasn't pleased and she asked me, "Do you wanna sticker, mommy?" I started to laugh (but only becuase I really wanted to cry) and started taking pictures of her and the room Awww, I can totalllly imagine that scene! A sweet wittle tot offering you something, having NO idea how upset you are. What a sweet girl ! I mean, she COULD have just said "I'm having a blast, Mommy....I love these stickers!", etc....but she actually offered YOU some---that is just too sweet! And THEN, to make the story even BETTER---you took piks! Of COURSE you did !!! That's what we scrapbookers DO! Please tell me there's a layout of this! I'd LOVE to see it! hop2 .....Yes, I do need to do that for my Dad! Ugh, I hope he doesn't ask my advice about what TYPE of planner to get, because I have NO clue...hee hee! I'll advise him to visit some of those Facebook planner groups---oh wait----he doesn't need that kind of drama!

DH used to call my Friday night crops cult meetings . That's funny! I'm pretty sure a few of my friend's DH and/or kids said the same and/or very similar things. I have the BEST memories of Friday night crops at our fave lss! We met no matter WHAT the weather was, and/or ANY other thing going on in our lives----we would do ANYthing to make it on Friday nights! We still laugh about the time we all COMPLETELY ignored the dire weather coming in. It was a HUGE mistake that we all regretted. I lived the furthest away, and it took me foreverrrrrr to get home, because the highway were not only COVERED in ice, but the main one I needed to get home was CLOSED! I ALMOST stopped to stay at a hotel, it was SO bad and the driving was wayyy too scary for me. The thing that made DH laugh was when I told him I would have been TOTALLY content staying in a hotel all weekend by myself, because I had SO MUCH scrapbooking stuff with me!!!! Who needs fresh clothes? And it was a MAJOR ice storm, too! The kind that shut the city down for a few days. When I fiiinally got home, I told DH I literally wanted to "kiss the ground" as the saying goes. Or.... more accurately....kiss the floor of my scrapbook room and thank God I made it home safely and had an excuse to not go anywhere, which meant scrapbooking uninterrupted for dayyyys !!! )

When I switched from a sedan to a minivan I called it my newest scrapbooking tool because I could now haul all of my stuff to a crop... An acquaintance (who dabbled in scrapbooking at the time) asked me what people do at a crop...do you just sit there all weekend and crop photos? Yes...nothing else is allowed...just cropping photos at a crop...

huskermom98 .....LOL---"NOTHING else is allowed!! We have RULES!" .I can TOTALLY understand that "sitting all weekend" would be very boring to some people. LOL, my niece used to visit and we'd scrapbook SO SO much in the few days she was here, we barely slept. We both just LOVED it...such fun times! Speaking of not doing anything else at a crop, whenever I'd see ads for Scrapbooking Cruises, I'd always think that YES---a cruise would be a BLAST, BUT----if it involved SCRAPBOOKING, I'm prettttty sure that's ALL I'd want to do! Excursions to gorgeous beaches, amazing sightseeing, shopping, etc....On a regular cruise---YES!!! But on a scrapbooking cruise----NOPE, I'll just stay on the ship and scrapbook the whole time.

Every once in a while he needs a tool or certain size pieces of paper and he’ll ask me if I have if it my “paper doll stuff”. He’s a mechanical engineer and is completely fascinated with my Cameo and what it can do. When I explained what it was I had to tell him it’s a mini CNC machine. That’s when my “paper doll stuff” became cool.

This thread was so cute! In kindergarten my DD had an alphabet project. Most kids just cut pictures out of magazines and mounted them on a piece of posterboard. Some kids drew pictures. But she was hell-bent on taking pictures with the camera and scrapbooking them. And she carefully wrote out every single word and put it all in a 6x6 album. She was so proud of herself. She came right home and said, I had the best project in the whole class!

Here's my favorite because it makes me laugh with incredulity. "Will you make me a scrapbook?" asked by no one I gave birth to or am even related to. I was at a crop yesterday with a woman who had made small scrapbooks for the grandmother of newborn twins. The babies' mother asked her to make her the same books, but 'bigger.' So my friend is making 12x12 albums for this woman, for FREE! I told her go to Michaels and get the $5 12x12 albums. She was going to use some CM albums. She said she was flabbergasted and just didn't say anything until it became obvious she was agreeing to do it.
You just have to laugh at the audacity of some people.

Fun thread!
Years ago, when my daughter’s jumper clashed with other colors in a photo, I used Photoshop to tweak the color of her jumper. My kids accused me of “changing history” and for a long time when they saw me scrapbooking, they would ask me, “Are you changing history again?”
I only did it once, but it took years for me to live down.
