This same person (he has a very distinctive voice) calls several times a day from different numbers and different caller ID's and asks for money for various different charities I've never heard of. Every time he calls I try to tell him to take us off the list and the asshole hangs up before I can finish the sentence. I can't just not answer the phone because my husband gets business calls and I don't always know where they're going to come from. I'm seriously considering blowing one of those canned air horns when I hear this guy's voice.
🤬😠😡😤😖😫

I would air horn him. It's a scam. They never take you off the list.

It sounds like you're going to have to air horn him to get him to stop. What a pain!

I have my phone set to accept only calls from my contact list. Everyone else gets voice mail. I just looked at my call list this morning and there are several unknown callers that didn’t leave a message. Honestly, it has saved my sanity.

I somehow ended up the National Kidney Foundation call list and they call all the time! Last night they called three times in a five minute span and when I picked up to bitch at them about removing my name from their list, no one there. I'm convinced they are connected to "Charity Pickup" because those fools call at least once a day, some days we even get three calls. Can't block because they use a different number every time and when you call, there is no one to talk to.

I'm seriously considering blowing one of those canned air horns when I hear this guy's voice. 🤬😠😡😤😖😫 This has worked for me in the past... I listen to the caller's spiel. I tell them that I need to have information in print in front of me and NEVER give money or a promise of money over the phone. Then I tell them that after I read the information they send, I will Google the charity and the address and decide. Only one breast cancer charity called me back to ask where their money was. I told them I Googled their charity and only 5% of the money actually went to the charity and the rest was for resources. This has also worked when "the fraternal order of police" calls. Give me your stats and I'll make an informed decision. Now if they don't have my address, I don't give it out. Funny enough, I seem to have been taken off of plenty of lists because after I started asking for paperwork, I got dropped from lots of lists.

I don’t answer if I don’t know who it is. If I miss their call they can leave a message and I’ll call them back.
I also don’t block calls. Why? Because then they just call from a different number.
Yes, I let it just ring. I’m fine with it and so is my daughter. My husband on the other hand will pick up and chat with them. He figures he takes their time they won’t have time to bug others.

One guy named "Mike" who sounded like he could have been from Bangladesh told me I made him laugh and he'd stop calling. It was over the sheriff coming to arrest me. Most of the time they get huffy and rude, but Mike was fun. We talked a good 30 minutes before he gave. Sheriff never came. Surprise. Surprise.

I have an old fashioned answering machine on my landline. I never, ever answer my phone until I hear who it is. I have thought of changing my outgoing message to say “If you don't say your name and state your business it will be a cold day in hell before a human will ever pick up this phone.”
I get up to fifteen calls some days and total silence when my machine picks up.

If they want me, they'll leave a vm.

Our phone doesn't have the ability to block calls. Are there any landline phones that can? Or is it something the phone company would do (ours won't - I already asked).

Air horn. DH has a cell line for work and was getting dozens of spam/scam calls a day. As noted, blocking does nothing because they just call from a different number and he doesn’t have the luxury of just not answering because he also gets calls from new clients who don’t know the drill for making their appointments online. We tried using NoMoRobo but even that was letting too many of those calls through. He was at his wits’ end and about ready to hire an answering service when I discovered for a minimal cost (comparatively, to us) we could set up an auto attendant on the main numbers which would direct all incoming callers to one of four mailboxes with different messages (set appointment online, submit a quote request online, leave a message (clients only), or send an email (vendors and partners). OMG. Best.money.spent.EVER. His phone never rings now and he never gets any of those kinds of calls anymore because they’re all weeded out.
